If you challenge someone for cutting in front of you in line, you have to be ready to throw down to back up your challenge. If it's a senior citizen, are you really willing to get in a fist fight to take your stand on line-cutting? I've had senior citizens cut in front of me in line in Japan, and I just say something in Japanese to my companion in a stage whisper like, "Why do fogies in Japan cut in line?' while the geezer in front of me studiously pretends not to hear what I just said. Then, I let it go.

But, apparently line cutting isn't that bad of a problem in Taiwan. So, who knows what really happened?

Was the victim a naturalised Namibian then? I saw his arm grabbing his leg and it looked as pale as the other Taiwanese..even to account for him being mixed race...his arm was unusually pale..

Nah mate, my girlfriend is Namibian and she's blonde. In reality, Namibia is very similar to South Africa in that there is a substantial white minority. According to the Namibian Government, 8% of the population is white.

There's no point in chest beating when it comes to old folks. Most old people anywhere are crotchety curmudgeons for a reason.

They are at the tail end of their life and probably the only thing they have to look forward to is the daily paper, a cup of tea/coffee, and the morning ride to and from the breakfast joint. If they act a little shitty just let them be. Maybe their grown children haven't been to visit them or maybe they have a sore back that day or any number of mental or physical ailments.

Hopefully when we're at that age we'll be a lot more content with our station in life but let's be real, most people aren't happy being old.

Surprised this stuff doesn't happen more in Asia. Once in Japan I saw some white guy and his Asian GF walking in front of me in the Tokyo subway during rush hour. The staredowns he got from Japanese men was intense, particularly 40 y.o. and above guys. Seriously thought someone might at least spit in his face.

Let's face it, if a bunch of foreign dudes came to America or whatever your country is and started throwing down on your women you would eventually become bitter about it. It's amazing guys in Asia generally don't.

They don't get bitter, because foreigners usually end with the undesirables. That's what they expect you to be, drunk and sleazing it up with low class slut. Try getting with a girl they consider hot and from good 'breeding' and watch their jealousy and bitterness turn into homicidal rage in an instant. It's perfectly understandable of course, everyone reacts like that when there's a foreign intruder, it's primal biology. Unless you're dealing with people used to the global world, which fortunately is increasing in most places in Asia.

This is true in Japan. If you're out with a hot, classy-looking woman, you'll get mean-mugged a lot more than if you're with a less-attractive or slutty-looking girl (although bar or restaurant staff might treat you better if your date is good looking and classy because you're helping improve the image of their establishment). I assume that most countries are like that, not just in Asia.

This. Basic human nature, lizard brain stuff that we can't rationalize away. If you look at 95% of cultures and monkey/lion/wolves, they all have the same instinctual hostility to foreign male intruders.

Saying "get your game up to speed," - while the most practical advice in a globalized world, is completely ignorant of evolutionary psychology.

Luckily the numbers of foreigners is still not that high to have a significant impact on the dating market for the average local guy in Asia (white/black/arab/indian guys in Asia - still probably less than 1% of the total population) - otherwise the mate guarding would skyrocket. Will be interested to see how the rise of China will impact attitudes towards foreigners.

These kinds of incidents happen all the time in Greater China, and I know of some happening in Vietnam too.

I'm not as into the China scene anymore, but in the 3 or so years I lived in China (Changchun/Tianjin/HK) I remember reading about these silly foreigner incidents frequently. Just read the 'look I'm in China blogs' like Chinasmack or Shanghaiist for some of the funny stories.

There was one (which many said was fake) of a British guy trying to rape a girl on the side of the road a couple of years ago. The Chinese fucked him up.

But yes, usually the foreigners are dating the less-desirable girls. Asian guys like tall and white and foreigners like short and dark.

If she is fcuking within her race, you feel (if you are part of her race and the race of her fcuker) that you have a chance. If she is fcuking someone of another race, you know that most likely it's her preference to the other race and you will not get a shot simply because you are of a different race.
