Kanye West is an interesting case for sure.

He is fucking successful. He has made many, many great songs. With many great albums he's not just some one hit wonder. He really does have a unique and innovative artistic vision. He's excellent at keeping the spotlight on himself and his hustle, whether you respect the form or not, has made him unbelievably much cash.

Now, the thing about Kanye is that he seems so beta. He reminds me of my younger self: He was raised by his mom and is pretty feminized, I'm sure he used to pee while sitting down. He was always so uncomfortable with his masculinity that now his ego is in overdrive, proving to the world but mostly to himself that he's a man. The top dog, the biggest and baddest. Kanye still feels like that soft spoken, sensitive boy inside.

It's classical arrogance versus self-confidence. He desperately craves the external validation because he didn't grow up with the belief in his own power, he only got that when he became famous and admired. For me personally, it took me a while to realize my deep-down psychology and grow out of that. Because I have to if I want to become successful. Kanye doesn't and so won't.

David Banner got in trouble for rocking that damn flag in a music video many years ago. He was serious about it too. Thing is, he is from Mississippi, unlike Kanye. Kanye wearing that is doing it 100% as a publicity stunt, like a little girl pissed off he is not getting attention. He is so effeminate it's frustrating to even look at him. He should have been in the How the mighty have fallen thread, by his own damn self.

Thank God Kanye is not a great Wide Receiver in the NFL. He would be worse than Terrell Owens and Randy Moss times 100.

I liked this guy's music in about 2007. Since then he's basically become an occasionally amusing spectacle, but now he's repeating his own jokes. And wifing up a pro athlete and another rapper's sloppy seconds? The fuck? Plastic badman.

Have you listened to Dark Fantasy or Yeezus? Those two are easily his best albums, and some of the best albums to have come out in the last 5 years period, Kanye isn't the greatest rapper in the world but he is one of the best producers for sure. Don't get me wrong Kanye is a dipshit personally and a moron for marrying Kim, but I'm pretty keen for his new album out this year. Though I doubt he'll be able to top what Kendrick's got in the works.

Kanye used to be a relatively unknown producer making beats for Jay-z, Camron, and other artists under Jay-z's label, at a time when JZ was building solidly upon his initial success in the music industry. I don't think it is wild to suggest he(Kanye) might have been envious of the rappers he was working for, particularly JZ.

He has always been in Jay-Z's shadow, and this clearly bothers his ego. JZ has nothing to prove musically or in terms of success. Kanye is constantly trying to prove his worth in very brash, immature ways. JZ married Beyonce, so Kanye had to wife up an 'apex female'.

I don't hate him, or begrudge him his success and fame, but as a person he comes across as a dick who would probably be OK if he wasn't so egotistic.

If you're to ask anyone outside hollywood to name a black artist who churns out good music, Kanye would not be at the forefront of their minds.

He is a true example of needing to do ever-more outrageous stunts to keep up with his wife and make sure he doesn't end up on the scrapheap.

If anything it's the opposite. The only reason anybody in the music world tolerates him is because of his output. He's put out half a dozen solo albums so far and has yet to drop the ball, even 808's was pretty decent as a pop record. That level of consistency is pretty damn rare even for acclaimed artists, Jay-Z being a good example. If Kanye wasn't putting out good music his peers would be treating him like they treat Justin Bieber.

I really have a hard time understanding how people take Kanye West seriously. Everything about him screams circus clown. The fact that he is actually a role model to millions of people, including men on this board who should know better, is flabbergasting, depressing, and an indicator of how pathetic our culture has become. Everything about the guy is a joke, from the way he dresses (like an idiot), to how he conducts himself in the media (like a child), to his penchant for drama (like a woman) to his marriage to fellow media whore Kim Kardashian (a fitting match). The fact that he is constantly putting himself over as a genius musician also shows what a total buffoon he is compared to other greats, who let their art speak for itself and don't have to go around tooting their own horns. Anyone who looks at Kanye West with admiration and respect has about as much good sense as people who go to professional wrestling matches to see a real fight. Both are total marks. Utterly delusional and out of touch with reality.

And I don't say all this as a cranky old man who hates rap music. I like some old school rap by guys like Big L, Tupac, Bone Thugs and Wu Tang. Kanye West is a fucking clown and a nitwit compared to them. He would have been laughed out of the rap game back then with his histrionic, insecure, feminine behavior. The fact that he's an icon today just shows you how feminized our culture has become in the past twenty years.

Yes, because the nature of the game, which is mostly played online via social media, is that the most outrageous and outspoken are noticed and rewarded.

Think about how many recording artists/hollywood personalities who owe their careers to social media buzz directly generated from Youtube videos. There are no more Motown's willing to recruit & groom upcoming acts. Before a company will put money behind you, they want to know that you have a dedicated audience. Obviously, this leads to more attention whoring even more so for an established artist who's trying to keep their spot.

Talent and merit are an afterthought, companies and sponsors want to know how many fucking hits your website has gotten in the last 24 hours.

Everyone in the industry give's Kanye high marks as an artist..Its harder to find an artist that is against Kanye...especially black artist.
Considering he has sampled, been influenced and influenced music for the last ten plus years.

Hell..He even has work with annd or acknowledges well known artist outside of hiphop
Bob Dilon, Adele,Sergio Pizzorno,Led Zepplin and even recently Paul McCartney
