I'm trying to scape the freaking Nordic winter for a week and of course the closet place to get some sunshine is southern Europe. I've read most of the forum articles on this region but almost all of them pertain to summer time. Any suggestions for winter time?

I was originally thinking of going to Lisbon but read in a post that it's not a good place for game. Barcelona is an old time favorite but I'm open to a new experience. Is Ibiza worth visiting at this time? What about Sicily?

Not a lot of good choices in Europe. The Canary Islands are the only place outside the Middle East with decent weather at this time. Even southern Spain is only chilly and not warm. Most Scandis would go to Thailand or Egypt (when it was safe) at this time. The problem with the Canaries in the winter is that it's mostly couples. Most northerners go on ski vacation in the alps this time of year instead. Week 6-8 is winter holiday in Scandiland and the hordes descend upon Prague. It will be cold there but lots of high school girls. I'd embrace the cold to be honest if I was in Norway or Sweden. Learn to ski, ride a sleigh, build a snowman. Get some mates and go to a ski resort and rent an apartment, do afterskiing at high altitude and invite girls over later that night.

I understand your predicament with the Nordic winters though, but there really aren't a lot of good options even in Southern Europe. You might find sun or you might find girls, rarely both.

Don't think anything's happening in Ibiza this time of year, certainly nothing like in the summer.

Could try Malta (Paceville), although the nightlife is probably significantly below summer levels.

'Game' during winter in Europe without the snow? Besides Carnies and Egypt, the bargains are likely bet in Turkey - lots of Russians favor them!

And with the currency beat down in Turkey and Russia, the prospective Med towns may be bargains with socially favorables conditions for exercising our kind of opportunism.

i went through this a while back.

conclusion - there are no great places. Probably the best warm weather to gaming ratio would be Nice or Barcelona.

Weather is actually great in Seville and the Spanish/Portuguese Atlantic islands but pickings are slim.

Yea, or right now the new exchange semester started in Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Valencia all have around 13 degrees on a bad day and 17 on a good day. With more sunshine than in the Nordics. But don't expect 20+ degrees celsius anywhere now, even not on the Canary Islands (it's 18-19 there).

The closest warm places are Taghazout, Marrakech (reasonably warm now in southern Morocco), Cape Verde, Gambia, United Arab Emirates, Israel a little bit.

I even think it is a misconception that the nordics are necessarily so cold. It is true they lack daylight and sunshine but it's pretty much all the same weather whether you are in Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki, Trondheim or Paris. In the south is just a little bit warmer (maybe 10 degrees warmer).

Ski resorts or somewhere in the tropics is what would be best for me.

it may be mid teens in the shade, but out in the sun, it feels much warmer
