I've been to probably 75 comedy shows since moving to NYC (I used to get free tix). In all that time, I have never once seen a patron or heckler get the better of a comedian. Partly it's because they have the mic and you don't, but more than that it's because being funnier than you is their job. Even if you're a naturally hilarious guy, these dudes have 1,001 comebacks and putdowns on queue just by virtue of having to use them on a nightly basis. Also, the crowd generally wants to see hecklers get owned. Personally I'd just laugh off any remark and enjoy the show. If you're supremely confident, maybe trade one good-natured barb then try give the guy props and end it like Tuth suggested, but even that is a seriously risky proposition. Some of these dudes want you to talk back, so they can destroy you as part of their set. And saying anything along the lines of "I pay you to tell jokes, not insult me" is going to get you fucking demolished.

A disclaimer, I was seeing relatively high-level standups. On amateur night all bets are off, although I'd still play it cool.

I really can't believe some of you guys are recommending variants of "Yo momma" jokes.

The best rebuff I've ever seen, bar none.

Guy responds to comedian: "You got a belly" with a halfway cocky smile. And points at it. Comedian looks pissed. Leaves it at that.

I wouldn't risk it; those guys are paid to tell jokes and to be funnier than you. It seems like a battle you're destined to lose.

Just listened a bit to the podcast - more of a talk with Mike Young:



It's interesting for Game perspective, because Mike Young tells about his pulling ability. He is an unconscious Natural because he grew up in a mixed neighborhood and learnt from the "brothers" around to be unafraid and approach without any shred of trepidation. Also he learnt to escalate quickly. He makes a bit fun of Ari who usually gets a girl's number while he is already banging her in the back. That's what happens when you grow up in such a neighborhood and steal car radios and bang chicks as a 14 year old.

Ari talks about how he banged this chick that came with a guest, but it was not such a big deal. The guest was a wealthy friend and he came with 2 models in tow once again. He managed to fuck one of the models in the back. The guy was cool with that.

Also Mike tells how conducive the comedy club atmosphere is - it's dark, it's dingy, it's essentially a sex place by default, a comedian has an automatic DHV and all he has to do is approach, speak to her and ask her if she wants a "tour of the club." Mike tells of one legendary night where he managed to give 6 girls "a tour in the back." They usually blow him or fuck sometimes within seconds.

A side note - if a girl goes with their friends to a comedy club or leaves with the comedian for a few minutes you better assume that she is having sex. You are essentially sending your girlfriend to a swinger club - if any comedian with a modicum of Game approaches her she is ready to go, because such places are so sex-conducive.

We need bars like that - best with some big private toilets with chaise longue furniture in them.

I get why men bring their dates to such clubs - it leaves them sexually charged, if you can whisper some things in her year it's even possible that you can manage a bathroom pull yourself - never mind lubricating the way for the bang afterwards.
