Family/friends who don't cooperate: death penatly or hard labor somewhere. Problem solved. I walk around here occasionally with 10-20k US when moving around. Not a care in the world.

For there differences, I'm glad to see Taiwan rolls just like other Chinese people.

Hang out in the Zhongxiao area between 5-8pm and you'll see plenty of smoking finance chicks in their heels and high skirts walking through. I'm pretty sure they're mostly So Cal transplants as all the ones I hit up spoke perfect English and said they were from some LA/OC area. If you dig the Irvine/Anaheim Asian chicks then Taipei is the perfect spot. But when I asked these girls what clubs they go to, they said they don't hit the clubs because of the raids. They all talked about bars and lounges, but I wasn't there long enough to hit those up.

Several in this thread mentioned Luxy as the place to be, but it seems to have turned into a fag club. Especially frustrating since I dropped $250/nt for a hotel room in the same building as Luxy. This is what I got to see as I got out of the elevator:



That was the line for table service at around 7pm. All the dudes had pastel colored mid-thigh shorts. Notice the banner to the right of the entrance of some gay Taiwanese pop group.

Fellas spare yourself the money and don't go to Luxy. And as long as Taipei has these cockblocking police raids, stay away from the city altogether.

Sorry to be such a downer but I wish someone had alerted me of this before I went so I could've saved $1500.

I was never a slob, but developed very good dressing habits after living in Spain and Latin America for years. It would never occur to me to go around in shorts unless I was at the beach.

Actually I don't really know what is going on in that picture. Most big clubs in Taipei are known for not allowing guys going in with shorts, specially Luxy.

Looking for some information about free language courses from the Taiwan government or free Master's degrees from the Taiwan government.

Anyone have some information about that? I looked through forums search for a while with 'Taiwan Master's" etc but didnt find anything.

Sadly a lot of Taiwan websites are blocked here in the PRC, bastards. So its not as easy as I hoped to search around for the info. I remember some years ago looking at some scholarships available to everyone to go there and study Chinese. My Chinese is already rocking so it would be free room and classes with young girls, just take a year off, get good at traditional characters.

I found a lot more info but the gist of most of it: need to be "a current student or recent graduate". That ship passed a while ago. It was a good idea though!

No matter how much game you have or how little approach anxiety you've got, the most important thing in an Asian club is to dress well. Look clean. Look cool. Look like you were a catch in England, but now you live in Asia. THEN, do the rest (i.e game/social circle formation/ditching your weird work friends).

They'll get their panties wet for a foreigner if you remind them of an attractive part of Western culture. E.g. Girls like me in Bangkok because I remind them of Harry Potter. Girls like RioNomad because he reminds them of Vin Diesel.

So yeah, in my opinion, a foreigner may be just a wardrobe away from an astronomical change in how he is received in Asia.

I thought I was the only one implementing this type of game.

My 'Will Smith' game is a hit with the Asians here in America

I've frequently adopted a "cowboy" wardrobe in China with very good reactions. Have not tried it in Beijing yet, but in Tianjin, some girls would be immediately overwhelmed by how "cool" I was.

Food. Taiwan has the second best food out of any country I've been to. So much variety, very accessible, cheap, and delicious... Japan is the best for food though.

Anyone with any recent experience in Taipei? I'm particularly interested in:

*daygame
*what it's like for guys with no Chinese (zero except what I can pick up in a few weeks, like a few phrases to pull out to show the locals I'm not completely uninterested in their culture)
*how it compares to Japan in terms of the potential with women.

Since I'm an Asiaphile with experience in Japan, I'm wondering whether it will be worth trying Taiwan, or whether lack of language and other factors will leave me pining for the women of Tokyo.

Do you mean for a short trip or long term? Do you speak Japanese and do well in Japan? If so there is no real reason for you to come to Taiwan. You can live here with English just fine and get decent girls without Chinese but if you already speak Japanese there's no point to start from scratch really, since Taiwan is like a low-rent version of Japan.

I don't do daygame myself. I have a buddy who gets results with it. But generally I guess the reaction will be similar to Japan.

Taiwanese girls can be sweet, feminine and pleasant but also very childish and as dull as a brick personality wise (and I speak Chinese); which I guess is what happens when you grow up on a small, sheltered island that has little relevance to the rest of the world.

I like mainland (and HK) girls more overall. Their intellectual horizon seems a bit wider. I wrote some of this in the Shenzhen thread already, but basically when these girls leave their homes for the big cities, it means that they have at least some sense of independence and drive. Most girls in Taiwan have never left the island when they hit 25 and you notice. Then they go hard on the whole cutesy thing, and then you add to that all the classical idiosyncrasies of Taiwanese culture - be as indirect and non-confrontational as possible at all times even if it actually worsens the situation. Chinese share some of those traits especially in the south but the Taiwanese have perfected it thanks to the Japanese influence.

I always feel that in Taiwan I'm dating teenage girls that never grew up, and in China I'm dating women. Both can be fun but as I get older I find myself increasingly more drawn to the latter.

Though when it comes to marriage etc. Taiwanese is probably the best way to go since her family likely won't try to fuck you over quite as hard.

It's hard to plan a future when the positives and negatives of each region are so evenly balanced.

My current level of Chinese (while by no means fluent) is functional and not that far off from fluency. Like it or not, I'm at an advantage in a country where I speak a common local language and for me that means a place where either English or Chinese is spoken by most people.

I absolutely love Hong Kong as a city. The requirement to attain permanent residency is only 7 years and there is an investment visa option. However, absurd housing prices and increased political influence from the mainland make it a less compelling choice.

I do OK in mainland China. I really like the women and I feel somewhat at home in Beijing. However, the asshole drivers, the challenges of starting a legit business as a foreigner and the general lack of rule of law (both in the legal system and how people treat others) really grate on me and I don't think the mainland is a good long term choice for me.

Taiwan is very compelling. I'm concerned that the drivers are still Chinese, but everyone I've met from Taiwan has always been super nice. However, there is a big difference between your average local person and those who feel compelled to travel. I really need to visit and see for myself (and I will), but I'm concerned that I'm ultimately be disappointed. I do not like boring people and I do not like dealing with people who make problems worse by refusing to deal with challenges head-on.

Taiwan's 5 year PR/citizenship options are very compelling, however, and probably with some trade-offs.

To add to this, and I might get roasted a bit here, but one thing that Taiwan has over the mainland is the influx of Taiwanese from the west. This demographic is one of my favorites, not the least of which is having something in common so I can actually enjoy my time with these girls.

Mainland Chinese are extremely pleasant and love to take care of me. This is nice, but not necessarily make for good trips or multiple nights out.

Taiwanese Canadian girls have enough cultural similarities to me and when I spend time with them its often good, even outside of the bedroom.

This goes for Hong Kong too, but without the expense. Local HK girls are often more difficult personalities without the looks to match the effort.

In simple terms, in Shenzhen I would date a 22 year old and be fine. Hong Kong too. But for a local born and raised Taiwanese I would be in the late 20's early 30's. So more history, more baggage etc. But keep in mind I am not looking for any long term relationships.

Seems like Taiwanese date more in their age group, where in China a 50yo guy is often seen with 20yo girls. Probably sponsored, but who gives a shit.

Taiwan is just much more western, but in a weird Taiwanese way.
