Just quit. I, uhh, "have a friend" who quit around 27. He's in his 50s now and memory is shit.
Also you can't learn new things because you can't remember anything.

I heard some sober rock star put it well years ago, something to the effect of "drugs don't give you any information."

You don't learn anything, outside of a couple times to get a new angle on things.

Smoking is fun but unimportant. You know this.
It's hard to stop, sure. Fear of draconian punishments in a foreign country helped me quit, but I don't really miss it. I am in the US at the moment and could easily get some, but nah.

Are you looking for a career where it's acceptable to smoke after work is done or wake 'n bake and then get high every 2 hours from then on? There are plenty of good options for the former, many less so for the latter. I find it amusing in a hypocritcal sort of way how many pot smokers will wake up and get high first thing in the morning but still rightly look down on anyone who can't start their day off without three shots of JD. If a person's reality is so intolerable that they can't live the majority of their life in the state which human evolution intended existence to be experienced then they need to work on changing that reality, not just their chemical perception of it. When career choice follows drug use, priorities need to be reevaluated.

I should also say that I am still a fan of very occasional drug use. They can provide an experience of a fuller/different range of emotions, and new perspective on issues a person may be going through. If this is your default state you miss these benefits, and because of tolerance you will actually not experience many of the potential effects regardless. I took a couple rips of oil the other night for the first time in a long time and was reflecting about how different and superior the experience was compared to when I was a regular user - introspective self-reflection from an outsider's perspective so to speak... It was in no way superior to the sober (maybe a little hung over) reality I'm experiencing now, but it was useful.

Possibly the truest words on constant pot smoking came from South Park in my opinion.

Horticulture comes to mind. If it's a passion then you'll be more likely to put in the effort to succeed. You could also get into the hydroponics busines. You could also work at a fast food joint or the movie theatre.

I agree with most people- don't choose a career based on weed. That's ridiculous. Maybee one day you'll find yourself in a job or career you don't even like. I smoked daily for about 15 years and I'm really happy I quit. I'm in touch with my emotions, I'm more confident, I lost weight, I dont snap on people like I did as a stoner, I sleep better, and I am able to think clearly. I also get laid more than I did. It was hard to quit for me but I did it. Replace it with a healthy habit, I do jiu jitsu but whatever works for you. The first week or ten days I didn't sleep and I had cold sweats and vivid nightmares. It sucked and made me want to smoke, but tough it out... You probably need to take some time away from your stoner friends too. Good luck in whatever you do!

I used to smoke fairly heavily, but I am unusually in that I have basically zero dependence. <--- No delusions here. But I did notice increased moodiness when I wasn't smoking

What I had was a shitty life. I was stressed all the time. I self-medicated and tried to keep my depression in check.

When I started having a more positive future, the weed just naturally cut itself out. I still smoke on a regular basis (CA here), but mostly with friends or girls. Couple joints or blunts between peeps. Social smoking....

Rule #1- No smoking until you are finished w/all task at hand (including work)
Rule #2 - If smoking solo, only smoke enough to get moderately high. No need to get blasted out of your mind
Rule #3 - Don't buy weed in bulk. It sounds like you are saving $ by getting volume discount, but you just end up smoking way more
Suggestion #4- Try to stick to daytime weed (mostly sativas or early bloom indicas). This sleepy weed shit is killer. Its a total suck of life. Wacks out your circadian rhythm.
Suggestion #5- Work out, eat healthy and realize that your shitty life will pass if you make effort. Smoking weed and doing nothing will only continue that cycle

- I've learned PLENTY from taking psychedelics over the years.

- I'll be 60 this year, have been using cannabis since 1967. I have an impeccable memory; I've been in finance for 35 years...there's no way I could have had a successful career if my memory wasn't tack-sharp, and there's no way I could sit down at the piano and literally play HUNDREDS of songs from memory.

- My balance sheet speaks for itself...the stereotype of the forgetful loser living in his mom's basement is bullshit. My friends who use cannabis include all the usual suspects: doctors, attorneys, business owners, etc. Don't buy into the prohibitionist generalizations...it's all they have left. Cannabis will soon be legal, hand the prohibitionists a fucking hankie...they've ruined FAR more lives than cannabis ever could.

- As for the inability to "learn new things"? Among a myriad of other things, I've learned to play a new instrument every year for the past 30 years, and I can play more instruments well than ANYONE I know - straight or not.

- Want to fuck your life up with "a drug?" Alcohol... Want to ruin your mind? Alcohol... Want to tear your organs up? Alcohol...Take it from someone who's been around the block 60 times.

When I smoked heavier, my short-term memory was SH-T. I would always be forgetting something. Its not even close.

My long-term recall was roughly the same, but I "heard" music better and "tasted" food differently.

There is no something for nothing. Its a trade-off. For me, I function best on no more than 3x/week smoking.

So smoke less than. I found my memory was shit because I wasn't getting the proper amount of vitamins into my system. I could "sense" my mental faculties were all there, it just wasn't firing. Supplementing copper helped massively. You should be taking 2mg of copper in the AM if you're taking zinc at night anywho.

Aim for one bowl a day and try not to go to the Looney bin. Alcohol will not only dehydrate you, it will age you as well. Just look at wine guzzling women in their 40s.

As for the original question, most employers don't drug test anymore outside of retail jobs and government positions. Drug testing is very expensive and most people these days fall back on the, "If you're not doing a good job, we'll fire you." instead of some BS metabolite.

If you're looking for a new job, it would behoove you to not smoke. A potential employer will let you know if random drug tests are part of the job.
