I wear a lot of nice oxford type button downs or long sleeve collared shirts. I don't button the top button unless I'm wearing a tie. It's my "business casual' look during the week while working

Is it fashionably okay to wear a visible t shirt under the long sleeve ....or should nothing but skin be visible when wearing these types of shirts?

I was wearing crew necks....which were visible...but now, I'm planning on switching to v necks....but they will still probably be visible unless they're deep V's.

Tips?

If you wear a white shirt put a light grey t-shirt under it not a white one, the grey will be invisible.

Also, I wear a scarf when I wear a shirt, makes you stand out in a good way (girls love small things like this) and also will cover the neckline of the undershirt. Two birds with one stone.

something like this: (do not overdo the scarf, just keep it small and simple, less is more if you want to dress well)

Maybe my style game just isn't up to point, but I would never leave the house dressed like that. One piece too many I'd say. Just screams overkill and try-hard to me, but your mileage may vary.

To be fair, I usually wear a suit to work, so out of the office I'm a v-neck, jeans, and boots sort of guy.

OP: I never wear undershirts, I just don't think it's a good look. If it's a sweat/temperature issue, you can get away with a very deep V

You could do what i use to do under uniform..cut the V out to make it fit your exposure.

BTW light Grey is better for concealment under white shirts.

id say its about congruency. if you come off as a dandy and very flamboyant and fashionable (but straight) guy, its expected for you to go over the top with many pieces.

if your more of the laid back, casual, dont give a fuck type and you go out dressed like that it's going to look odd.

Deep V's. I'd recommend this site. Guy that started it couldn't find what he was looking for at a reasonable price so he started making his own.

Just wear a vneck. Definitely looks better then the crew. No need to go overboard though, and I always found the deep V's to be uncomfortable.

Pretty boring, and what every person who gets into game leans toward.

It just doesn't square with international game, day game, or night club/dance club game. Ideal for tinder/okcupid though, given you have to pass the smell test when you actually meet.

This is an interesting take.

So I'm assuming you think a more flamboyant and peacocking style is the way to go for night/day/international game? If that's the case, why would it not be ideal for online dating as well?

My theory is that if you have a well built body, the simpler your style the better. Wear a v-neck and let them see your muscles, leave the jacket at home. I'll splash it up with a bracelet or watch, but that's about it.

But I'd be the first to admit that I don't think much about style, so maybe I'm leaving something on the table.

That's very close to my ideal look. I haven't tried scarves or waistcoats yet, but I'm working up to it.

Right now it's usually jeans, button down shirt and a blazer.

I wouldn't call that guy's look "hipster" per se, more like "prepster", a sort of more GQ'd, fashion-forward hipster. I don't even think hipsters wear watches, it's against everything their lifestyle stands for.

That look may seem try-hard at some dive bar in Zanesville, Ohio, but if you're hitting a gallery opening or modeling event in Manhattan, that's the way you wanna look.

It depends on the context.
- what is customary
- what is in style
- what are other people wearing
- weather
- time

RVF will have you in Union Square (NYC) running game custom suited down with a cigarette.

Proper attire for that venue is a smart pair of sneakers or casual shoes, well fitting jeans, a simple t-shirt, and some accessories.

You learn style by watching other people, and then modeling what they do. Even if it's out of your comfort zone.

These Don Draper wannabes can't pull that off everywhere there are women. Hell, watch enough Mad Men, and he finds himself a fish out of water when dealing with young broads ALL THE TIME. His fuddy duddy ways are called into question during the whole series.

I'm not sure if you got the answer you were looking for for your question. I think it's better to show skin under your long-sleeve button up than a t-shirt. A visible t-shirt looks like you're showing your underwear. It especially looks like underwear if it's white. A grey t-shirt under a shirt looks like you're wearing a dirty t-shirt if it shows at the collar. If you show skin, I think it helps to better frame your face.

That being said, when I wear a v-neck sweater, I usually wear a crew neck t-shirt underneath. For some reason, I think wearing a v-neck sweater without a visible t-shirt looks a little weird.
