I have been noticing something about the way I communicate with women that I feel puts me at a disadvantage with them. For example, when a girl says, "I love it when guys play sports." I then relate by saying something like, "You know, I played footbal in college and was the best." But it feels like I'm seeking approval to a certain extent when I say something like that.

What verbal maneuvers do you guys recommend I use after she says something like that?

"I love it when guys play sports" - completely ignoring it - I love women who can cook a good meal! And wait...wait...then she'll qualify herself to you!

I always turn this kind of shit test into a joke:
Her: "I love it when guys play sports".
Me: "Does street fighting count? I was in one last night, almost won but this grandma was hitting really hard".
Works even better if you're muscular and practice a self defense sport.

TL;DR: don't peacock when a woman asks you to, show you know your own value and are not thristy.

Stop proving yourself. Turn it on her everytime. Never brag she isn't inportant enough if you dislike the question glance like your bored especially at other hot chicks around if there any.

My responses would be:

"so are you any good at sports?"

"were you one of those ditzy cheerleader groupie types in high school? those girls were always fun to hang with..."

Always make her defend herself. Try to paint her into a corner as the social deviant. Always be on offense.

It's called bulldozing shit tests.

Don't go tit for tat with her like she's on your level.

Fucking steamroll her into the ground.

I've dealt with too many of these types in college. If a girl says that I usually just screen her out.

My response would depend on my mood, and I agree with the sentiment of the posts that do NOT really answer the question - unless you, the guy, are interested in the topic. If you are interested in the topic, then surely you can take it to the next level to see her response to your interests in that area.

Maybe: Hm? interesting? or just use her topic to transition into any topic that is of interest to you. If you are just met the girl and are building comfort, then it can be a good tactic to be able to bounce around a bit to see whether you click on any level with the girl.

I find it a positive that the girl is asking you questions that seem personal in nature, or you could turn the question personal, and say "are you asking about me, or about guys in general? we should.....______ "

It really depends

There's not really enough context for a good answer

If you're jacked, she might be trying to build rapport
If you're not, she might be dissing you.
She might be fishing to see if you're a punk who will fall for obvious rapport seeking, which means orbiter status

She might be drunk or high, so her words mean nothing but your reaction does.

She's playing her game, conscious or not.

You make her play your game.

Ignore
Agree and amplify
Accuse
Flex, with a shit eating grin, and then pull it away

There are dozens if not hundreds of things you can say when a girl makes a statement

She's trying to make you buy into her frame, that she is the one who knocks.

Say this to yourself,
