If someone really applies themself it's not hard to save up and move out.

Look I'm a white dude that didn't grow up in the ghetto, so it's easy to write me off as talking out of my ass here...

But lets look at this from a Red Pill/Blue Pill perspective:

Is it hard to change? Yes

Is it hard to break bad habits? Yes

Do most people change? No

I can only take the word of people that grew up or were involved in ghetto or gang culture, that once you're in, it's hard to get out. Well, I've heard that from a lot of different walks of life. To me, it sounds like this is less social mobility and more human resistance to change.

In LA, anyone, and I mean ANYONE can work 2 dead end jobs and rent a studio in a semi-decent neighborhood. Is it a great existence? No, but it's not the ghetto. It's a step towards independence. The opportunity is there, available to absolutely everyone, but that is dependent on a willingness and a desire to change.

I know it's easy for me to say that with an outsider's perspective, but this is about taking personal responsibility. Everyone meets challenges in life; some are harder than others. Fucking own up to it and get it done.

Also as someone who grew up in a very poor neighborhood I can confirm what Le Chinito loco posted. Most people don't get out because ether they don't want to or they are not willing to do do basic things like not hanging out with a gang, doing grugs and get a job.
The few that make that decision and stick to it get out and make something of their life.

That's because statistically-speaking in the U.S., parental IQ and SES are highly correlated, and IQ is highly heritable. i.e. Higher "class" parents tend to be smarter and pass their genes onto their kids, and lower "class" parents tend to be dumber and similarly pass their genes onto their kids.

Yes, the police and other forms of law enforcement have levels of profiling that may or may not include a particular minority group or groups.

Despite being the most universally persecuted ethnic group in human history, Jews are the last to blame whites for their shortcomings and the last to promote the idea of "white privilege". Nigerians in America seem to be doing very well, despite being black. They have good education are seem to have higher incomes than most other ethnic groups. Evidently racism doesn't hold them back.

That being said America still has quite a bit of anti black racism in its everyday fabric. Just reading what people think of blacks and mixed race people on anonymous forums gives a good sense people still cling to tribal traditions. The good news is, the real racial oppression apparatus has been completely defanged and declawed in the West. There seems to be very few real vestiges left of it.

Overcoming history is tough for black Americans, they did get fucked hard (300years slavery, 100 years of segregation). But things are getting better and the constant stream of black immigrants without the vile history and animosity are changing black - everyone else relations. I do not disagree with MidWest, but then, I do not disagree with others either.

My issue with the privilege argument however, is that people look at this binary as a set in stone type prospect, and do not understand that no matter your lot in life, you can work to overcome these adversities.

Privilege arguments seem to result in people making "that's the way it is" sort of arguments, and that it is everyone elses fault, and that those who are below this privilege are not able to overcome it without those who are privileged doing something about it first.

Humans, and evolution as a whole, have favoured privilege in a lot of ways, because without it we would not have the large cultural structures we have. Now I am not saying it is right, but what I am saying is that this is what we have been dealt in North America because privilege and large cultural structures need to co-exist in order for mass cultural structures to thrive. A truly equal society would collapse on itself, because you need to have someone at the bottom to have others on the top. Some proprietors of this train of thought argue that equality will eventually become achieved amongst the races, and it will not longer be a black and white issue, but it will become a class issue; that is an argument for another day.

Now that I have my privilege as a necessity point out of the way, part of me wants to say that it is by no means a justification for continued oppression, but then I would argue that the red-pill ideology asserts that we: "see things as they are, not what you think they are" and with this knowledge of red-pill wisdom, we should move beyond what we have been dealt socially and better ourselves outside of that spectrum.

This is tricky to say, but maybe it's because Canada in some places feels more progressive, but I have never felt privilege as a result of my race, only from class. I grew up dirt poor, and have seen my fair share of hardships, but instead of blaming the oppressors, I've always strived to overcome my situation, and that is why the red pill ideology has been most appealing to me. While I realize that statistically I should be committing crimes right now, I also realize that I have agency to change my outcome by force of will, and for the most part, I have.

I have to work hard physical labour in order to attend University, unlike the pumpkin-spice sipping girls who have had their tuition and living expenses paid by rich parents, and only really have to worry about whether or not they contracted an STD from that dude they fucked at the bar last night. I used to resent my lot in life, but I also realize these are variables I will never have any control over, and resultantly I can only do for myself.

So, to sum up my thoughts, I agree with the privilege argument, but I also believe that some people feel threatened by it on here because it presupposes that you shouldn't have any agency to change your situation. I'm not sure that's what you're suggesting, but I can see why some people would feel that way.

With that being said, I feel like the privilege argument goes against a lot of red pill beliefs, because it assumes compliance instead of adapting to your situation to move beyond it.

Complaining is not red pill, doing something about your situation is.

To call Tim Wise a race hustler is to let him off easy.
