I've done a bit of pipelining on Tinder and FC and had a couple of questions for people who've actually been there...

1) What is online dating girls' obsession with being "simple"? Does it translate into something with a slightly different meaning in one of their languages? I just read a girl's profile and her bio is "being simply make me simply the best !!!" haha.

2) What's the difference between the DTFness of the westernised girls and the more traditional husband hunting ones? The girls on Tinder seem to be pretty much the same as Western girls, respond to the same things, have iPhones and I seem to have more in common with them whereas the FilipinoCupid cupid girls seem poorer, more "simple" as they like to put it, all after a husband, way more obsessed with you but if they weren't so obsessed with you then you probably wouldn't have anything interesting to talk about with them. How does this translate into the actual dates and getting laid?

I feel like 'simple' means down-to-earth, chill, laid-back, or something along those lines.

Obviously they would say no if you told them that simple meant boring, predictable, and just like every other girl out there.

As for the other stuff - I'm no expert on Filipinas but I'd imagine that, along with most other developing countries, the prettier girls will have higher standards and won't just throw yourself at you because you're white. If you're white and good-looking, that is a completely other story.

It would be interesting to know if girls in the Philippines know the guys are all there for sex, or if they prefer being lied to a la 'I'm working here' to make them feel slightly less slutty. I feel like the richer girls know what's up, but of course that's all speculation.

"Simple" means that they want the basic good things in life: husband, family, kids & home. When they say they are simple they mean they are low ambition, have unsophisticated interests, they have an unexciting job which is probably not what you would think of as a career.

Yes, they know that guys really want sex, but they typically really do believe in love. Also in Philippines most western guys really are there for work and will often get into real relationships or mini-relationships.

Of all the filipinas I've cammed with from Cherry Blossoms, I never met ONE from Manila who said she was "simple". It was always outside that city, in places like Dumaguete and Davao and Palawan. In fact, most filipinas I spoke with in Manila were very ambitious, especially teachers. Most had a streak of feminism in them--constantly needed validation. Equal rights. Ambition. Women are equal to men, yada yada. This one I spoke with for three months had it in her head she was going to be a "teacher superstar"... at 29, but traveling to Thailand and Japan to teach. I agree, the minority who are embracing what they see as feminism are really naive about it and see it as a real solution rather than a way to adjust things a bit to their liking.

I meet all those Filipina single moms in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Cairo, where they are taking care of other people's kids for $500 - 700 dollars a month while the grandparents have her kids at home in the Philippines. Some are stranded abroad for up to 10 years and are prisoners in the employer's home six days a week. The story's the same - father taking off with no support.

Lots of people get disappointed when they get here and figure out that it's not as easy as they thought it would be (it's already happened to posters here), and reports like yours don't help. These days it takes a bit more effort than what you experienced to get a girl to meet you, especially from online, and more often than not, you have to deal with other issues like lateness, flakiness, miscommunication, etc.

I'm just posting this because I don't want people to get mislead into thinking that getting laid here is as easy as sending a girl three messages and having her come over in minutes, because it's generally not like that at all.

bally, both in absolute terms, due to the larger population, and also in per capita terms, due to many factors, Manila has hotter girls than Davao.

I'm no Philippines expert, but Manila was too much of a shithole for me. Even if there are more hot girls in Manila, I don't think I could live there beyond a couple of weeks and that would be pushing it!

I don't think you can get an accurate impression online.

The dating prospects have got to be shit for the women there, considering any man with even a little money is going to steer clear for fear of being kidnapped and ransomed.

You see the same thing, albeit to a lesser extent, in any of the provinces or more remote areas. I'll always run across girls that are much higher than the average online yet very receptive. Then you find out they live 5 hours from the city and don't have money for the bus. There are tons and tons of girls online who set their location as Davao City, for instance, but they're actually from Toril, Panabo, GenSan, even as far out as Illigan or CDO, just because they know they have a better chance of coming up in a search and getting some guy's attention.

They don't have much going for them, they can't just hang out at the club and wait for some upper class guy to roll through and sweep them off their feet, so they go online and jump at the first opportunity they see.
