The same fare can be lowered by $100 with an open-jaw returning from SGN.

I had JFK-CEB/SGN-JFK for $739. Not a bad option for someone planning on visiting Vietnam as well. Some of these open-jaw combinations (try different city pairs returning always from SGN) are upgrade eligible with GPU's but the second I post that on Flyertalk it will die in a minute (I'm hoping there aren't 500,000 travel addicts on here).

Guys looking a cheap and no frills way to get to Europe need to check out Wow airlines site.

You can fly to London for under 400 RT in June! No idea how long it will last. That includes taxes, 1 check in bag, seat fees, but no food.

I would def check out the site right now!

I flew from Milano, Italy to Fortaleza, Brazil for $542 in July 2014. I am looking to fly again in December (going Brazil to Italy) and the same price is available from Air Italy, on Skyscanner.

Sure Fortaleza sucks, but on any domestic carrier in Brasil you can get to SP or RJ for $150.

Given the revenue requirement, can you explain this a little more. When you say doing it for miles, I am assuming the routing you took, not the trip. Is that correct?

I'm a UA PP, so I'll get the 22k or so miles, as well as bonus miles to push it up to around 40k.

The only spending requirement for elite qualifying is for 1K since I have one of the branded CCs and run enough cash through it to waive the spending requirement. Not a big United fan though and usually bank miles to DL and AA - Just see this as a great deal and the best bang for buck miles wise out there. I've also always wanted to go to GUM and never get to because I rarely fly United these days.

Skyscanner is a good website for cheap deals as you can just search for 'Everywhere' on the 'To' field, from any particular airport on any date. It will search all airlines for the cheapest deals. Bear in mind once you are in Europe you can fly to most European countries for around £50 ($75) if you book early enough.
