Bad genetics?
I am not inciting anything, but you go to a place like a South America, the women and men are good-looking and they have a culture that somehow supports and plays up to that; they are not that rich. But the Indian subcontinent? heck even China, other asian countries seem to be have better looking, healthier looking people, not to mention people w/ better hygiene/better fashion sense then people from places like the Indian sub-continent. Middle Eastern countries are not hogbeds of economic distribution and gene mixing, yet the men are good looking, usually have good hair/bodies and dress decently, nice skin. Compared that to men and most women in India and they are bad looking, have bad skin, bad fashion sense, badly shaped bodies, not to mention one of the most primitive cultures on the planet. Now I might sound condescending but this was the civilization that invented jiu jitsu, kung fu, chess, zero, yoga, buddhism, karma sutra and lots of other stuff, it has a rich history that's respectable.

But did I say they are bad looking? The men look atrocious usually, not to mention the women are a joke. The men in China/East Asian countries look better, take better care of themselves, and have some fashion/athletic sense of their bodies. I dont see this in the Indian subcontinent. Is this a result of poor genetics/poor culture emphasis?

Nonsense, India has 1 billion people, of course you are going to have all sorts of looks - the sample size is ginormous. I have seen good looking Indian people and I have seen gutter looking Indian cats.

In the same light, I've seen good looking Scandinavians and I've also seen Quasi modi type Scandinavians.

I think good looks is largely to do with diet and also diversified breeding. In-breeding tends to fcuk up a person's looks.

Uh, Indian women tend to be fairly attractive (if not a little too hairy); not upper-crust here (we're talking about India, not Colombia, Spain or Russia), but certainly not horrible.

China has been and still to an extent is a fairly closed society with rigid mores that extend to mating and dating. Inbreeding is indeed the enemy of attractiveness.

I'm with Ohiogang on this one. My non-scientific take is that Indian people have pretty bad genes and are generally much more unattractive than other ethnicities. They have a rapidly growing obesity problem too (b/c of the food they eat).

It's extremely hard to make any broad statements about India due to the extreme genetic variation there.

From a South-Asian perspective, Yes. An average Swede, Colombian, Lebanese or Korean chick does appear more attractive than your average Indian. Two thirds of the world is relatively short with black hair, black eyes and so being tall, blonde and blue eyed is going to be a novelty in most places.

Most households in India, emphasize economic advancement (money)+academic achievement (status) a million times over grooming oneself and being athletic. Everyone's chasing credentials, paper and favors - it's not easy competing in a developing country of 1 billion. You're constantly stressed out in the rat race and conservative values discourage you from impressing the opposite sex. Grooming is only encouraged when a girl/guy is of marriageable age. But fear not! Globalization and women's liberation have arrived, so this is rapidly changing, especially in the cities.

Food-I'm no expert, but your average Indian meal is starchier than it needs to be. It's overkill, in an era of 9-5 office jobs where you sit on your ass all day. Love handles are standard equipment. A generation ago, a paunch was considered a sign of status (well fed) in a man. India has a rich culinary heritage so good food is central to "having a good time."

Indian men tend to be soft spoken and non-confrontational so women are less pressed to maintain their body after marriage - having a baby can make an Indian girl hit the wall so hard you'll be drywalling that shit for years. You will routinely see buxom, fair-skinned girls with love handles being worshipped by sexually frustrated, apologetic, nice-guys, raised on bollywood films while they wait to marry the girl-next-door introduced by their mother.

This environment is counterproductive to raising bold, attractive, manly men. The women follow suit because they don't need to step up their game for their beta-provider husbands.

But, south asians are wealthier (avg. GDP) and younger (avg. age) than before and are presenting themselves to the world on a daily basis. The value of improving appearances is increasing and will improve their attractiveness as time goes by. Combined with the steady growth in women's liberation, the number of attractive females open to sex is only going to go up! They'll still suck at giving head though.

Genetics, upbringing and lifestyle all play a role in determining appearance. You can improve the latter and still outdo any potential negative effects of the first two.

Aside: I know a South Asian "natural" who uses this "bad-genetics" argument to invalidate every single pickup attempt by an Indian dude. He says women wince when they take note of the "bad genes," kwik-e-mart accent and weak voice, so there's no point approaching unless you were born attractive.

I don't think you need good genes to stop bitching, take more showers, eat healthy, exercise regularly, speak boldly, be proud of your roots and flirt with chicks. It's life, some have it easier, others earn their stripes.

Inbreeding can cause hotness-look at Somalis. they've been marrying their fist cousins for thousands of years. The effects are showing in their behaviour;somewhere in their a phd thesis by an evolutionary psychology graduate will be written.
But its mainly negative-health problems, mental issues etc etc.
