When I have been travelling alone I have enjoyed the trips more if I had some business to do which was the reason for travelling, compared to just going someplace just for fun.

Do you fully enjoy to travel alone to someplace where you don't have something specific to do at the destination other than just generally chasing tail and do touristy stuff? Is it any different if you sort of set up a semi permanent base somewhere (think Roosh lifestyle)? I've never tried the latter.

Unless there is a business reason or some friends/family to visit I hate traveling solo, I feel like it detracts from my game especially when approaching sets in clubs.

I usually travel solo in the latter form you mentioned setup shop for a month or longer and just see what happens, for me its great because I work remotely. If you are in a postition to work online traveling solo gives you so much more freedom, opens up so many more doors and makes the experience that much better. The chick you wanted to bang but couldnt because you were there for such a short period of time is now bangable, the smaller cities you wanted to see and really take advantage of your exotic factor is now in your plans. At first obviously its awkward especially as tripleG mentiooned in the club or just out in a social settingv but be outgoing and youll find your way.

I don't mind to roll solo in a club.

I think that you mentioned the key here, to stay in a place long enough to make it a semi home. A month in an apartment instead of a week or two in a hotel.

Do you keep a permanent home and if so do you rent it out while travelling around?

Used to travel with groups (family/friends), with itinerary in hand, activities planned. Strictly touristy

Nowadays, I enjoy solo travel for a few main reasons

- To truly get the lay of the land
- You are on your own time, I like doing my own thing after business hours
- Group travel can be feel cumbersome; especially if you want to veer off an do your own thing (meet a bad chick)

Working remotely is totally the best of both worlds; work during the day and play at night

Gaming abroad without anyone there to help is a test of your will to succeed.

It is a true challenge, but these solo experiences are by far the ones that teach you the most.

The first few hours after you arrive at the new destination when you're there for solo gaming are usually the worst, for me anyway. Some bad, depressing thoughts go through my head, like "what am I doing here", or "i don't think this was a very good idea". It's that uncomfortable feeling of being out of your comfort zone.

I counter this by heading to the nearest liquor store, buying a bottle of alcohol and a couple red bulls, and start pre drinking in my hotel room right away. Alcohol relieves you of that anxiety and puts you in a state of euphoria that makes it easier and more natural to start approaching girls in the new city (a good wingman would have that effect too). And then you start enjoying the process a lot, and will hardly look back, unless you picked a shitty destination.

I find that nowadays it's much easier finding women (because we can always game with tinder, etc) compared to finding decent guys to hang out with. Sometimes I don't want to fuck and want to watch sports or drink and it's never easy, especially in places like China where I go so often.

I like to keep as much time as possible free of commitments. Also, play around with generating some degree of randomness in the things you do. Use a dice, or other randomising tool, to generate places to go or things to do. It's quite liberating. The problem with focus is that you stay in a kind of bubble and experience the same thing over and over again. Left to our own devices most of us are not truly adventurous, even if we do cool things and think we are. We do the same "cool" things far to many times, and far too often. The only way to expand your horizons is to intentionally inject randomness into the places you go or things you do.

For example. Say you decide you want to go to a club tonight in New York. A typical way to go about this would be to get Time Out, or some such publication, look at the listings and choose one on the basis of reviews, music played and so on. Another way would be to ask your friends. But if you do this every time you go out you'll find that you go out to the same type of places every damn time. You may have been in London last week, and Berlin the week before that, but now in New York you'll end up at a club almost no different to the ones you went to in London and Berlin. Left to your own devices you'll be going to, I don't know, trance dub-step, clubs only for the next 10 years. If you know a way to get out of this that doesn't involve true randomness let me know, cause I don't see another solution.

I nearly always travel solo, and don't like to "overplan" my activities or itineraries. It's a matter of personal preference. Some guys are extremely structured about this sort of thing, and will pore over all the travel guides to plan every single day down the last detail.

On the other hand, you can take it too far to the other extreme, also. I think I suffered for this once when I was in Rome. I should have spent more time targeting good restaurants, and ended up missing out on some good places. Like so much else in life, it's about finding that balance between the two extremes.

This reminds me of one of my recent facebook posts about travelling alone in Mexico:

"So yesterday was day four of my trip to Mexico. Sometimes when I travel alone in foreign countries (like I am now) I experience intense bouts of loneliness. It feels at times as if I am testing the very limits of what I can handle…. not knowing anyone…. not knowing the culture…being in a strange new city and then…. In a moment… it all shifts. Like yesterday when I dragged myself to the beach around 4:00. When I got there I sat by myself playing guitar still feeling a little lonely and starting to wonder what the hell exactly I was doing in Mexico in the first place when at that moment two cute Mexican girls, one of which was also playing the guitar, called me over to sit with them. We talked and played for about an hour and they invited me to a party they were having that night. At the party we played more music, drank whiskey and talked and laughed late into the night. They played me popular Mexican songs and I played them popular American music. As we talked late into the night I realized the loneliness I felt earlier in the day was gone and I remembered probably the most important lesson traveling has taught me, which like the zen Buddhist expression is that “this too shall pass”. Feeling down? It will pass. Feeling great? It will probably pass too. Life is fleeting. Enjoy each moment. Embrace the good times. Endure the bad times. Connect. Love. I'm travelling alone at the moment. In conclusion:

While sober = It sucks balls

While drinking = Fucking awesome

People, and in particular girls, don't seem to mind either as long as you have a solid backstory.

Alcohol can be fun, but definitely don't rely on it to enjoy a solo travel experience.

Landing in a new country at night and waking up to no alarm clock, concrete plans, not knowing what I am going to eat or do that day, and walking out of the hotel with a whole new area to and world to discover around you has been one of the most enlightening experiences I've had to date.

I tend to slack off a lot when I travel with no real plans or goals other then having a good time.

I'm doing a lot of slacking off here in Peru. It still beats slacking off in America. And every now and they it just hits me, and I look around and saw "Damn I'm in Peru, this is awesome"

Thanks Roosh, just like the other 4 forum members I had lunch with last month... We all came to the same concussion. If it was not for Roosh we certainly would not be sitting in Peru enjoying lunch.
