Caligula, I'm suspicious about the women who have a lot of member feedback because I think it's a sign of a female who uses the site for attention -- kind of like those match.com women who lurk for years because of the attention they get but have no serious intention of ever hooking up. What do you think? Alternative could be that a lot of feedback is the sign of a woman who gets around.

The most annoying part of online dating is eliminating the girls who are just online for attention. I separate girls who use the online dating sites into two categories: those who are serious (dtf) and those who are not.

I've done online dating on and off since 2006 and it takes experience and some trial and error to figure which ones are serious and which ones are not. I'll give the two quickest things I use screen out the serious ones from those who are not.

The first screen is her profile pictures. This does not apply to sites where nude or provocative pics are the norm since I have not used them. I'm talking like okcupid and match. If she has a lot of AW pictures up(obvious cleavage shots, bending over, pics that look like the just put up to show her ass, etc.) she has a much higher chance of giving the run around. It's more complicated than this, because there is also a subset of girls(usually in the 23-25 range) who you can tell from what they write that their expectations are just way too high..that you have to jump through too many hoops. I don't message either of these girls.

The second screen is her response to your message. It varies from site to site, on match I'd get the 'life story' emails where the girl just goes on and on. This is catch 22 because the positive is she is very interested if she's putting in that much effort, the negative is she probably wants a relationship either way you can probably bang her anyway. A good response is either one that is long(she's putting in effort) or one that is flirty and cool and you can tell her intent is to continue the conversation.
A bad response is something like one word etc.

"haha"

"yeah"

"ah"

I've actually gotten that shit above and usually don't even bother to continue.

Here are some examples of good responses from my massive email archive. I forgot what I sent them but here's what they wrote back.

"Hey, yeah it can be kind of awkward! I've been to London. I lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for 3 months and I (sort of) speak Spanish. I took it for a long time in school, but haven't spoke it in a long time!

This next one is in the middle in my book. The misspellings and shortcuts show she wrote it fast and she didn't ask me a question at the end but I can probably work with it a bit.

So after a few weeks on Ashley Madison I can conclude that it's closer to Adult Friend Finder than a normal dating site. It's very hookup oriented.

It's also high friction and takes up a lot of time since a lot of women on there don't put up pictures. I got one date from it. A lot of the women are older, nasty and have a very inflated view of their value. Over half the married women there are only on there for cyber sex (ie. attention and validation).

Add to that the cost, about 40c per contact attempt, and it doesn't seem worth it.

I've gotten one date out of it after being on there for a couple of weeks.

Maybe I'd be cleaning up if I had a bunch of ab pictures up there and details of my big cock. But for now I'll be sticking to the young girls on OK Cupid for my online dating needs.

I rarely ever use quickmatch. It doesn't base it off your match percentage anyway. A lot of uglies and fatties show up there, not on my other screens.

It's a lot more complicated than that. Look at their personality tab, are they more sex driven? If there's no data, look at their sex questions answered (if any). Do they list 6 more more days before having sex? Move on. Are they cool with one night stands and no strings sex? Their answers reveal a lot, but you can't always read too much into it.

There are just too many girls to wade through to have a "bombard cute girls" strategy. You'll just be wasting your time and getting dates with girls who have no intention of putting out. Now, if your goal is to land a cute girlfriend... ok sure, maybe. For the rest of us looking to get laid, there are better methods. Don't waste your time and money, have a plan.

Depends on your style. It's like poker you can be conservative, aggressive, or massively aggressive. If you have a interesting profile, with good pics, and a style, you can just decide to just message girls that view you or wink at you. You'll have a higher success rate with girls who view/wink, but also missing out on girls who don't browse a lot. I personally browse and message the cute ones who I think are going to be into a guy like myself, it's good to have an overall theme to your profile. Are you a rocker type guy? Traveler? Foreign? Business dude? Whatever it is stick with it and message the cute ones who you think are into that style.

I don't do a lot of PMs, I usually message then if a girl is online and she is into it she'll PM right away.

Here are the type of messages NOT to send. I've saved some from when I created a fake female profile to see how the average guy messages the girls. Most girls are getting hit with shit like this...

Answers to sex questions. There's just way too many. Very prudish.

Personality tab. More conventionally-driven. More romantic/love driven/LTR oriented preferences. Less sex-driven. Stuff like that.

update: chick above re-visited my profile after I messaged her.

Overall, the OKC interface is way better than POF. And the library of sex questions is a fantastic filtering device. The search criteria ain't too bad.
