Been in Kiev for a few days now & liking it. Very interesting time to be here for sure. The Maiden crowd sure are a bunch of derelicts though - seems like there's just a bunch of bums/out of work guys left there now, sort of an eyesore for the city and every girl I've talked to just wishes they would go away.

Daygame has been decent as we've had good weather the past few days and there is a steady flow of ladies around Kreshatik and the center. Other than the Maiden guys and all the military style encampments in the very center it's sort of like business as usual around Kreshatik during the day.

Nightlife just hasn't been all that good though - only have gone out a couple nights but it's not been anything spectacular, especially in the clubs in the center (Sky Bar & Decadence - Vodka bar seems closed or only open on certain nights). Just doesn't feel all that busy really and the pros and sponsor-seeking girls seem to dominate. I'm sure the devalued Hryvnia is not helping - already heard a lot of complaints about that on my dates.

Going to try to hit up the spots away from the center in the coming weeks (e.g. Dali Park, Forsage & Sorry Babushka (which was not good last Thursday but on Saturday was better from what my friend here told me)) but am mostly going to focus on daygame and online (which is not bad, and has given me some good prospects - if anything the girls are down to meet up and interesting to talk to).

In any case, I am much more comfortable gaming here, sorta feels like Russia in many ways with some differences, and at least have some mojo going now. I'm +1 after just a week and had another close call when I got this other girl back to my apt (internet girl I'd pipelined earlier, this was on my 1st night here) but she got so damn drunk on wine at my place she passed out when we were messing around and I had to put her to bed on the couch (I took the bed - slept like a baby))). Also had a couple 'kiss close' dates with ~6.5s who I'm wondering if I should drop or spend more time on (cougar and younger 24 year old). Got a few other internet and daygame opps on the come as well so hopefully can pick up the pace a bit, figure out the ones I need to drop and/or focus on and get the cross-mojinations working.

Yes, I daygamed the Kreshatik area mostly. Only did 6 approaches in 4 days but two days ago hit up the park near the Dinamo stadium which was decent, not great. Got one number up there.

I think it's a bit better on weekends on Kreshatik when there are more girls down there as there's just a bigger flow of weekend traffic. But then again I just did about 3-4 hours walking around with another forum member on Tuesday and we had some decent luck trolling up and down the main streets of the city. I only got 1 number (6 at best) but think there were some decent opportunities out there. My 'wing' got 2 numbers and 1-2 close calls despite speaking no Russian at all.

So it's not 'heaven' per se on Kreshatik generally but if you hang around for a few hours and observe/approach I think you'll be rewarded.

Re the bang well it just all came together and she had sort of the 'deer in the headlights' look when I approached during the day. She's from the provinces and didn't speak much English so my theory on those girls being gold mines continues. She spoke very little English, at best (which was a real pain the last time we met).

If you know a little Russian it's very helpful IMO - at least to get the conversation going/continuing. I'm an intermediate day gamer at best so I think it will only get better here - girls are approachable and fun to talk to.

Akula, what is the language situation in Kiev? A colleague of mine was there recently and he said Ukrainian was the dominant language now. I don't think I could be bothered to learn such a useless sprache.

Even if Ukranian does become the dominant language, it's not like people won't understand you if you start talking Russian to them. People haven't suddenly forgotten how to speak Russian.

people don't get mad in Kiev if you speak Russian. The only exception I've seen was when I tried walking through Maidan at night. The homeless people who sleep in tents and block off the street wouldn't let us walk through. We spoke to them in Russian and they got pissed (I don't speak any Russian, it was another forum member who spoke). It was very obvious that we were foreigners. Fags. Otherwise I don't think anybody cares. Most people get extremely curious when they realize I'm a foreigner, and if I address them with the little bit of Russian that I do know, they don't care whatsoever. Most people seem forgiving of foreigners here.

I've been speaking Russian pretty much to everyone and nobody has gotten pissy about it. The Maiden homeless bums (at least that's what they mostly look like to me) might be a little antsy about the issue I think (as Travolta said) but that's it for the most part. I did have one woman at Puxata Hata (cafeteria restaurant) sort of give me an attitude when I said "spasiba" (she used the Ukrainian word and (I think) corrected me) but that's it..not even sure it was much of an 'incident' really.

None of the official signs are in Russian though - all Ukrainian with some English. Somebody said that it's been like that here for quite awhile. Keep in mind things could change as the situation in the East gets worse - they keep bringing up bills to ban Russian in the duma so who the hell knows.

Sidenote(s): My taxi driver was basically telling me (in Russian)) that he thinks everything wrong with Ukraine is due to Russia, which I don't think anyone outside the country would believe, even most Americans. Also noticed on the way to the airport the other day tons of signs promoting partnership between Ukraine and the EU (big billboards, like 10 of 'em, with the EU and Ukrainian flags side by side). Sort of reminds me of Georgia back under Saakashvili....I just hope Ukraine doesn't decide to invade Russia like Georgia did! Oh yeah, also at the airport I noticed that the passport control lines are split up as "Ukrainian and EU" and then "Other" now - so if you have an EU passport you get to go through the Ukraine (usually shorter) line.

In any event, it seems like Poroshenko's team are really pushing the EU angle and also using some propaganda to support the Ukrainization of the country. It will be interesting to see how far that does. I'm going to try to get a better picture of this as the weeks go on.

really? Then maybe is a recent thing. Last time i was there (6 years ago) the only moment i heard catalan was when i turn on the TV. The rest of the time i spoke in spanish with everyone (english with some foreign tourists).

I know I asked this before but I have a hard time believing that the clubs and night-life would be happening in Kiev with such an unstable political situation and the extreme violence in the east and now coupled with the shooting down of the Malaysian Airlines plane. I would think girls would just stay in and "going out" would mean watching the news and drinking alcohol within social circles. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

TripleG, really that's ridiculous. Granted I haven't been in Kiev the last few months but, the political events have little to no bearing on daily life. Especially this is true in Kiev in terms of nightlife. I can imagine maybe Donetsk might be a bit different but honestly I doubt it. In Russia, everything is normal. The western media is not telling the truth. Kiev is safe and things are going on as normal there. I invite the actual guys there to confirm my words.

There's not a whole lot to update... my experience is very similar to last year. The same spots are still here and they have similar crowds. It's not easy or harder. It's sort of like I didn't leave.
