"Iranian women are ditching their head scarves on Facebook"
[Image: Iranian-Women-Shed-Veil-021035261013.jpg]

In some ways, the social police in Iran have become less suffocating in recent decades. Unmarried men and women now date, and sometimes even live together. Meanwhile, Facebook may be illegal, but the government generally ignores the 4 million Iranians who use it regularly. But one area where the government has been unyielding is with the dress code for women. They are required to dress “modestly,” which includes always wearing a veil. If they remove their veils in public, they can receive 70 lashes or 60 days in prison. Now some Iranian women are challenging that rule in a particularly in-your-face way. They have taken to Facebook to post photos of themselves veil-less. Instead of wearing the veils, they’re wrapping them around their necks, holding them up or flying them like ceremonial flags. The veils are everywhere except where the government says they’re supposed to be—on women’s heads, covering their hair.

Facebook post earlier this month from liberal Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad sparked the movement, which has grown under the hashtag #آزادی‌یواشکی(translation: #stealthfreedom). It has spawned a Facebook page of its own, which gathered over 30,000 likes in its first five days.

Under the guise of human rights Iranian attention whores are being trolled from outside to use Whorebook to provoke the next generation 'like' revolution bc they be mad for missing out on all the state-sponsored cock carousel careers their western sisters are cumguzzling on.

RE: "Iranian women are ditching their head scarves on Facebook"
On facebook maybe yes, but not in public. When I was in Iran and hanging out with girls in a city or in a park, the police almost every time showed and asked her what she's doing.

Questions like:
Are you parents aware that you are seing this man?
Have you had physical contact?
What are you talking about?
Correct your scarf.. Bla bla bla.

In Tehran I was standing on the street and chatting with a Swiss girl and she decided to lit a cigarette. It didn't take 10 seconds before some random guy smacked the cigarette out of her hand and said:" Are you crazy woman? Standing in the street and smoking, if a policemen see you he will throw you in jail!"

I have many friends all over Iran and they keep telling how hard the police are controlling public areas. Inside their homes they can let loose. Or in their cars, which is a common party place when scarfs are coming off.

What a bitter and pathetic reaction. As opposed to Western women with their first world problems, women in countries like Iran are actually oppressed. That they now demand to live hijab-free has not much to do with the West. They simply want to retrieve the rights they had before the Islamic Revolution. Fighting corrupt and hypocritical Muslim mores does not inevitably lead to state-sponsored feminism like in the West, that is just a projection you make from your limited manosphere-viewpoint.

More power to these women. I support every struggle against Islamist fascists.

If there are negative consequences for them, it will be a feminist issue.

Women on Facebook = attention whoring. It's not something to hate them for, it's built into their DNA.

This is closer to Pussy Riot / Femen than the current Ukraine situation.

Attention whoring or not, in the grand scheme of things, I don't see that this would betray their cause.

Femen are bizarre barraters. They get naked in public to criticize either abstract concepts ("patriarchy") or things that lie beyond social/political control (prostitution). Also, they don't enjoy any considerable public support in Russia or Ukraine and not even among feminists. These Iranian women, however, protest against a specific law and large parts of society, both men and women, will agree with them. Therefore, the comparison is flawed.

I'm suspicious of anything on facebook. It's a garbage website. Personally, I like a dress code for women. They need one. Oppressive? Yea maybe. But in the US there is no dress code, and you know what the result is? A bunch of thirsty ass beta mother fuckers giving ass loads of attention to chicks just because they showed some skin on a picture. That shit poisons women completely. Then when I go and swoop in I gotta deal with her hyper inflated idea of her sexual value.

^^^that has less to do with how women dress and more to do with how skewed the dating market is here in the U.S. 70% of the women here are fat, for starters. A number of other factors make it so a very large number of men are chasing a fairly small number of attractive women. And yeah, FaceBook makes it even worse. Go to Brazil, the dating market isn't like that. It's like night and day.

This would have more effect on the streets if they did this in masse.

The Govt looks like tools if they try to crack down on a crowd of women and round them up for lashes <---- Equals a protest

The fact this is taking place on FB is proof of its blatant attention whoring.

Verdict: Persian Pussy Trolling

Even though I think Islam is nonsense, I hope they can keep their women under control or else suffer as the West has suffered.

Samseau, are you trolling here or is that supposed to be serious question?

The headscarf as such is not oppression if a woman wants to wear one. But we are talking about a country where women HAVE to be veiled, otherwise they can get whipped or jailed.

But yeah, human rights are blue-pill, mangina-shit, right?

I wonder if they would think that many women out there in the world are oppressed by having to cover up in public.

It's not about oppressing women. They wear the headscarves to dress "modestly" like 80 year old women because all the men are sexually repressed non-fapping losers. The men are so frustrated that they're on the verge of raping women walking alone in the streets or blow themselves up in order to go their magical poosy paradise in the clouds so they can bang 70 virgins.

Don't see what the big deal is. It's not like they're sex slaves or unable to work because they are women.

Small symbolic gestures that give power to men are beneficial for the society in the long run because it makes the men more attractive to the women.

Being whipped is a bit extreme, but I do not think jail time is unwarranted to enforce such a rule.

It will probably be the case that Islam will be much stronger in the long run because of the harsh conditions they impose on their women.

RE: "Iranian women are ditching their head scarves on Facebook"
I think Iran is more liberal when it comes to headscarves than Arabia. In Levant area, they are already much larger, in Gulf they were full hijab, and in Afghanistan is the fiercest - they have to cover even eyes.

Iran is a mixture of republic and theocracy. Theocratic part of government is parallel to president's position, only he REALLY has power to veto whatever he thinks threatens the state and it's values and ideals. This religious and moral dogma and enforcement is part of that.

Now, mandatory scarves are indeed contrary to value individual liberties, but Iran has gone through enough shit since revolution to be proven as a quite solid and durable society - devastating trench warfare with Iraq, partial occupation, worldwide embargo and diplomatic pressure, brain drain, etc, but they survived. Is it in part thanks to theocracy ? I don't know.
