I'm not sure but I think it's pretty remarkable how smooth things run here. There seems to be a huge middle class on this island, and it's the safest place I've been to in the world. I rarely have seen any poor people in the nearly 3 months I've been here.

I spend way less here than I did anywhere in South or Central America so I would like to see the economics behind all of it.

I tried Taipei last November but only for about 8 days. I failed miserably. I'm going back tomorrow and will spend at least 1 month there. This time my game is a lot better and so is my style. I'm hoping that I have better luck. I'll be staying close by Fuxing MRT so the plan is to do plenty of day game. How is Taipei in mid April - May? Is the weather bearable or is it too humid and rainy?

At this exact time last year, it would absolutely PISS down for like three days solid. Was very relaxing for wanting to get to sleep, but otherwise very annoying.

The clouds will usually cover anything above 25 stories in height.

Weather's just about to become hot. In the day you can rock a shirt, but at night I was wearing an open pea coat. Won't be too hot though like it is from May onwards.

The great thing about Taipei is when it rains, 99% just grab an umbrella and do what they would have done anyway. People typically don't stay in because of the rain.

Is it still possible to get sunny days in Taiwan in May? Going to the beach?

My brother is coming to visit and if the weather is crap, we might go somewhere with better weather, but most of SEA seems to have rainfall at this time of year.

I met a Taiwanese model (or so she claimed) in a bar in Tokyo this past weekend. She did look like a model, tall and leggy. I was thinking of this thread and I asked her what was her favorite club in Taipei, thinking she would say Twiice or Room 18. I'm fairly certain she replied that Luxy was her favorite club, although the music was so loud she might have said something different. I know she didn't say Twiice or 18.

I hardly know anything about Taipei, except for mostly what I read in this thread and what questions I bounce off of some of my Taiwanese friends in the Los Angeles area; however, I tend to think that guys and girls have very different perspectives about what is a good club or a bad club.

The girl will NOT be thinking about how easy it is for a guy to go to the club and to get a bang out of the deal. That is part of the reason that I hardly ever ask girls about where I should go salsa dancing b/c girls are going to tell me to go to some place in which there is a 10:1 guy to girl ratio, and what I am looking for is a 10:1 girl to guy ratio.

Additionally, I will NOT trust guys either with such suggestions about places to go, unless they give me a bit of a description about why the place is good... and usually ratio is important and another thing is whether the place is clicky... or easy to open girls as an outsider.

She probably said Myst. Every hot girl I asked said her favorite club was Myst. And I'd agree that Myst is the hottest (but also the most difficult) club in Taipei.

Yeah. The other day I got into a taxi and asked the driver to take me to "Myst." He said "Mysto???" then took me to the Myst I was looking for. So yes, she likely said Myst.

From the standpoint of a guy who has experience with Chinese and Japanese women, as well as having had several long term Korean girlfriends (one of my white exes called it "my preference" - whatever ), and also as someone whose ltr is from South Taiwan (not Taipei), I'd say the similarity to J-girls is strongest with Taiwanese girls if they don't have the alleged Taipei bitchshield (which is actually not something I've encountered firsthand, all Taiwan girls I've known have been, at minimum, polite and sweet).

Taiwanese girls act much cuter than the standard Chinese girls, emphasize being feminine much more, and tend to be more "girlie" in other ways than most Chinese girls. They send to angle towards more feminized appearance in hair, etc. but not necessarily the feminized high fashion appearance of wealthier Chinese girls. Rather, its more similar to the younger style appreciated, in my experience, by many Japanese girls.

A girl I banged lived 2 minutes from Luxy Club. She had a studio very similar to Apartment 1 for 16K

A white guy I knew had a studio apartment in Zongxiao Dunhua very similar to Apartment 2 for 10,000NT a month (He was like 5 minutes from Luxy)

I've been browsing this site lately out of curiosity and if you look at any city (besides Taipei), the rent index in Taiwan is cheap as tits. I've found it to be even cheaper than Vietnam or The Philippines, yet Taiwan as a country is way more developed.

This place could be great if you're looking for a reasonably developed, modern city with cheap cost of living. I'm seriously considering living in Kaohsiung for a little while since I've visited the city before. Kaohsiung is quite large (~3 mil), but the people are laid back and there is still an adequate amount of clubs. It's a worthy tradeoff in my opinion. Yes, Taipei has more nightlife but the princess complex is much higher there and I felt more positive foreigner capital being in Kaohsiung.

I realize this thread is specifically about Taipei so I won't blabber too much about a different city, just wanted to comment about the rent prices.

my gal is from Kaohsiung, and I can absolutely, 100 percent, confirm what Collide is saying about the girls from KS vs those from TP. Far fewer foreigners, higher ISO as a result, and sweeter, nicer girls. However, probably not nearly as easy to get a one night bang in KS as opposed to TP. That would be the flip side, so for a short trip, TP might yield more, and for a longer stay, or a work assignment you might have a much better time in a southern city. If you're ltr hunting, I'd definitely head to KS.

Question about living in Taiwan...

I spoke with my neighbor regarding her time living in Taiwan. Her opinion was don't live in Taipei because it gets cold (50's F) and rainy, and there are no furnaces or heaters. Though she lived further south in a small town, she had friends in Taipei and said with the cool damp weather and no heater it's not pleasant, sorta like camping in humidity. She suggested further south along the coast where you can still get to Taipei via high speed rail.

Any thoughts on this?

Well...it gets cold, yeah...for about 3-4 weeks a year. Other than that it's pleasantly cool to mostly warm to very hot (rainy though).

So I don't quite see why you should make your decision based on those few weeks where it gets cold. Worst case just buy a small space heater.

In any case Taipei is the happening place. None of the other big cities have comparable nightlife.

Having a cold month or two is not a detriment but a positive. Just like how it should be, not 2 months of summer and 10 months of cold.

The whole of Asia is like this. But these are extreme examples anyway, and Taiwanese girls still tend to have the best bodies overall (Girls in Japan and southern China are shorter and flatter)
