As I sit here on the shitter and contemplate my early time in game, I realize I have put forth a ton of effort and not gotten a true lay out of yet. I have banged my ex gf, and a chick in the dominican, neither of these needed real game to accomplish. I'm a decent looking dude, tall and in good shape. I know with good game I can score the women I want. But alas, my game is pretty spotty and weak.

That being said, I have improved massively, but have hit a plateau after the first 6 months. So far I have:
-greatly improved my style
-been lifting like a fool, and starting to go from tall and lankey to tall and fit. Gained maybe 5lbs of muscle so far, maybe a bit more.
-gotten a few dates
-gotten the balls to kiss close the last 3 dates with success
-gotten a couple second dates with heavy makeout/dry humping
-talked to more chicks in my every day life

One chick I made out with was a smoking hot 5'2 blonde with a perfect little petit body, that felt great. First time I have just gone for it with a hot woman like that and gotten any success. But she flaked shortly thereafter, and the number is dead. This has happened a few times. We all know hot women have a million options at all times, and my game is still weak, so I am not having tons of luck with them yet.

What do you guys think about stepping down a bit to chicks who are bangable, but not smoking hot babes? I have a couple of those that are quite interested. To be honest, these girls are starting to look more appealing, and I am thinking about taking swings at them to get some practice. These chicks all pass my boner test, but they are not my ideal woman.

Is this a decent strategy, or should I continue to plug on with the hot bitches? I feel like tasting some success might be a stepping stone to help me try things out and gradually move up the scale.

I'd keep going for the better looking women. This is a great opportunity for you to try different things with them to see what works and what doesn't. Make them remember who you are (in a good way) and why they met you in the first place. Continue being confident and step out of your comfort zone.

If the other girls pass your boner test, then pursue them. That doesn't mean settle for them and put the more attractive ones on the back burner.

Good advice Rem.

I think I am getting a bit frustrated with my slow progress. I am a pretty motivated dude, and have had good success in a lot of areas of my life, but this one seems like its going to take some time. I have 30 years of training and behavior to re-learn!

Have you other guys experienced this frustration getting started? Maybe after I get that first true lay that I can attribute to my game I will feel better about it.

It took me a while to even get into a lifestyle change. I'm more actively working on game now. It's already been about 2.5 years and I still consider myself a beginner. However, this is largely due to my logistics.

You'll progress much faster than me if you keep at it and don't have other things to deal with (eg work, family).

I have pretty tough logistics too, that makes going out and going for SNL tough. I live an hour from the real town where there are bars and women. I live in an amazing log cabin at the end of a dead end road in the mountains, great place, but it makes meeting new women a job, and it is taking a lot of time!

Re the chicks, if she passes my boner test then I approach. I would bang, then purposely avoid a second encounter. Move onto the next chick, get the ball rolling so to speak until its a friggin great snowball rolling down the mountain gathering momentum.

That is kind of my thoughts, get the ball rolling and get some practice in. I am an engineer at a small firm that is very busy. I drive an hour each way over a mountain for work, but its worth it for living in paradise.
Just makes it impossible to bounce a chick to my place one a first date.

Cool, I'm looking to get into some basic engineering. Bought a lathe and will be getting some practice in turning some bushes and pins for repairing machinery.

Your place could be a hook. "Wanna come back to mine to see the mountain lions/bear/whatever it is you have there?".

Though I'm lost as to how you could spin this without letting on that it's an hours drive, or having her freak out half way.

All depends on your baseline confidence.

If you are approaching hot girls no need to downgrade.

If your confidence is low enough you don't have to balls to approach hot girls then it might be a time for a slump buster.

For a guy that can't even imagine himself banging 7s I would recommend banging enough 5s and 6s so he is literally forced to upgrade. You don't sound like that guy.

I think the subject of gaming 5s/6s vs 8s has been discussed before. (9s or 10s are a different type of game)

Generally it's a bad idea to game 5s or 6s as you started out. Field experience by most members here have shown that they are not necessarily easier to get than 7s or 8s. A lot of them have anger or self image issues. And they have the same bitch shield like 7s or 8s. Most likely you will put out the same effort to get something much less rewarding.

What's bad is that even if you score you don't feel entirely justified, and sometimes may even end up hating yourself for it. Sex with someone you dont find attractive is the most disrespect you can show yourself.

I would say hit on 7s and 8s as much as possible. The girl need to be at least pretty enough so that you don't want to cover her face during sex. Once you do well here move on to 9s.

6-8 is the sweet spot for beginners.

Every guy will vary based on certain personal characteristics though.

Don't dumpster dive, but if you have no game and you start approaching 9's, don't be surprised if you get blown out and get discouraged.

You get frustrated with slow progress cause you're too picky about who you even talk to. I've been there. I didn't talk to girls I wasn't immediately attracted to. I was on/off type of a guy. I either went hard with some girls and was aloof with the rest. It sucks balls. That's when you get too procedural/analytical about the whole game which fucks you up.

Get over it.

Game them all. Talk, flirt, escalate on girls wherever you can. Make it like you're lost in the moment. For example when you buy new jeans you can ask a sales clerk if they fit your butt or would she leave a date with you if you wore those. Or when you walk in the venue and 2 girls stand on stairs you go "oh hey sorry for being so late, yeah I can be a dick sometimes, let's go to the bar to drink and bury the hatchet". Simple spontaneous stuff like that with no 'end goal' thought at a time. It makes you let loose, get talkative, get more experience, get used to taking initiative, become more fluid, etc. And the best part is that pickup will no longer be like a rigid blueprint to execute, it will become more like a one big blurred gray fog to you.

Most of the natural players I know tend to enjoy a wide rang of women, from ugly as fuck to hot as fuck.

I think a lot of them were able to build skills with women young because they didn't discriminate. And because mediocre chicks got them horny, and they knew the poontang was there for the hitting if they wanted it, my guess is they didn't pedestalize hot women as much.

End result - they developed a lot of experience and comfort with the opposite sex at an early age. And at the end of the day, most women tend to operate about the same.

I say yes. Tone down your expectations - without shooting down to rock bottom - gain some skill and confidence, and then start setting your sights higher again.

MtnMan, these are all good things to improve on. But what seems more pertinent is:

- How are you bringing in new girls? Do you have a process?
and
- How many nights a week do you go out to game?

For the first part, you need to find a niche that consistently brings in new girls. It could be a networking or happy hour group. It could be going to a dance class that brings in a lot of cuties. Find out what works for you.

The second, and most important, part is if you are going out to game new girls at least 3 times a week. This is at least a few hours at a bar of your choice with the goal of having a few drinks and talking to a bunch of girls. You'll get more numbers, which means more dates, which means more lays.

Also it sounds like your logistics are a bit tricky because you're far away. That's ok, just BE PATIENT. Take the girl for a drink on the first date, and talk about an amazing dinner you can cook for her on the second, at your place. If she won't come over on the second date, it probably won't happen.

Lastly, what Mcqueen said is onpoint. Game 6s-8s, start having regular sex with girls and guess what? Your confidence grows, your charm develops, you get better at sex and eventually you'll eventually feel the need to game girls at the next level.

It's like lifting weights, before you can bench 200 lbs, you need to incrementally go up 5-10lbs at a time over a period of months. You can't skip these small bits of growth.

You get good at all the mechanics of closing on a first date, and keeping her excited to see you and sleep with you regularly. Then you focus on better looking girls and continue the process, while honing your skills even more along the way.

-I go out about 2 nights a week on average, I just don't have time or money to do more. I am already spreading myself a bit thin as it is.
-I don't have a go-to process for bringing in new girls yet. Been doing the online thing with moderate success, but I don't like to rely on that. The last two possibilities that I picked up were from social circle house party. I actually like that scene quite a bit, however being 30, there isn't a ton of house parties with single people. I got lucky and ran into a younger guy who interned under me a few years ago and started to get in with his group which includes several mid-20's single girls. I got a hook up at of that group saturday night, and there are a couple other decent leads.

2 nights is ok, 3 is better. Grab a couple numbers so you can setup dates. Don't spend a lot by pre-gaming and buying two drinks at the venue (at most $25).

Coffee meets bagel is a free app that doesn't take much time, where I got my last notch.

Networking groups are hidden gems. Plus they meet for happy hour, which is inexpensive. Look for ones from your university or pick a subject that you like (film, tech, etc.)
