Mr. GM nice thread! So how much does it run for a nice apartment (not pimp, but nice) in Sao Paulo? I just saw an index that said Sao Paulo is the 7th most expensive place to live in the world. Maybe someplace nice but close to the action, not too dangerous.

I would say somewhere between 1000-1500 BRL/month can get you a nice apartment in a nice SP neighborhood.

Im biased to answer this because I love Floripa, used to go there every year in the summer.
There are definetely LTR material down there , but they are not the easiest to crack. Lots of German / Nordic looking girls.

Mr. GM, props man this is an amazing thread.

I got a question for you Brazil experts - this relates to schools/cities. Earlier (when I first joined the forum), I made a post about Curitiba, and got some great information (Have to thank Vacancier for that as well).. However, I've recently found out that the two schools/cities I can pick to study for a year are in Fortaleza and Recife.

If it makes a difference, the schools are Catholic University of Pernambuco (UNICAP), which is in Recife - not Pernambuco..
and University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR). Is one of the schools more prestigious than the other? Are the women different in either city?

Now I've done some research and I know these aren't the most sought after destinations for a lot of guys on this forum, but I was wondering if you could give me some insight. Which city would you guys choose personally?

In my opinion Fortaleza is a better city to live , it seems to have more infraestructure than Recife.Honestly I never heard about those Universities , but I advise you to check in some local forums in Orkut (You know portuguese right?) because this must be an easy question for local Nordestinos to answer.

Boa sorte , abraços

Mr. GM, thanks so much man. This thread was great. I've been doing some research and I think Fortaleza would be a better fit for me. Yeah I really need to get on Orkut and see what's up. Learning portuguese would actually be my main objective in studying abroad, but I have a while to prepare. abraços my bro!! haha

Some Goianas that I was happy to meet.
they tend to have a "small town" vibe.

Or Aspen! But if they are asking about in Brazil, Rio, Sao Paulo, or Florianopolis. Dude, I don't know what it is, but I just can't find quality Brazilian tale for the life of me in MIA. The only ones are the occasional tourists coming to my hotel. A lot of the B-girls I meet out here are ugly, or stuck B-girls who really aren't even B-girls anymore, they've turned into stuck up Miami princesses, but I've only even met a couple of those. I don't know what it is, everyone else tells me they're all over MIA as well, but I just can't seem to find them.

Not knowing portuguese I would recommend splitting your vacation time between Sao Paulo and Rio. In Sao Paulo you can find a good amount of girls that speak decent English. I think the nightlife in Sao Paulo shits on Rio's nightlife but Rio is an amazing place you need to visit at least once.

I've met a good amount of girls in Rio that speak decent English too.(I only spent 2 weeks in Rio) If you decide to go to brasil I would recommend studying some portuguese before you go. You can probably pick up a little to be able to explain where you are from and the basic greetings and survival things.

Agreed Tony...
...you need to learn some Portuguese...speaking.Otherwise seeing a pretty girl and having the communication skills of a baby is just plain frustrating and the girl will lose interest too.

Fortalezas fine if you have something to occupy you during the day:work, study etc ,otherwise you'll start to go Stir Crazy.

If you have that then the nights and weekends with the restaurants ,bars and beaches will be fun, especially when you have made some local friends of course.

Weekend trips to Cumbuco and Jeri are a bonus.

One warning...you need to like HOT weather 28-32 C in the day, nights around 25....humid but with a breeze.

Dude, I think the Brazilian women hide from me in Miami. I just can't find them anywhere, and when I do they are usually ugly. I'm not doubting there's a huge population of them here in MIA, everyone says so, it's just I rarely meet them. I did get a message yesterday though from one of the cute Brazilian girls I hang with in Aspen that told me her friend just moved out here from Rio and doesn't know anyone, she wants me to show her around.... I guess, if I must Wink. Funny thing is last week when I was in town I was hooking up with her best friend.... I love jelous girls sometimes. These are the type of insecure girls that are always trying to one up the other. I'm not doubting that she would get a little joy at making her friend jelous by getting me to hook up with this other girl. Crazy latin girls...

The easiest IMO to find Brazilian girls outside Brazil though is definitely Aspen. In Aspen they are just that much easier to find because it's such a small town, and if you know the 5 main places they go to, on any given night you're walking into a place with at least 5 Brazileiras. I kid you not, you go to the right club on the right night, you would think you were in Brazil. They actually have Brazilian parties all the time. I've also seen bars with Brazilian parties in MIA as well. I guess I just need to figure out the spots to go in MIA, cause I hear very often that there are many Brazilians living here. My boy even lives right next to Little Brazil, I still never see them around unless I'm at that little Brazilian cafe up there.

Amour like I said,I Think this represents more the SP scene.Probably Rio is more laid-back on this aspect.I hope it is.Lucky you.

I work in the corporate/multinational rat race and sadly this kinda crap is an usual discussion topic in hang-outs/clubs near financial districts such as Faria Lima and Berrini.Avoid those places in SP if you don't want Fly gold-diggers checking you out to see if you have potential to be a (Beta)provider or not.
On the other hand they tend to be hot and well dressed ,so use your "acting" skills to deceive those bitches. They will find out eventually that you don't have a big office in your company , but why care after You've banged ?

Gringo comparing to Europe and NYC ,I think it is not that good. Maybe its good for a tourist but for daily life is not very good at all.We have very few metro stations comparing to London,NYC,Paris etc.I need 2 crowded and slow buses to get to where I work ,because we don't have a metro station there. And it is in one of the largest financial quarters in SP.

GM - Been considering & looking at Corporate/ Consulting job opportunities in Brazil. My question is how do I go about it, if I dont know Portugues for starters. I wonder if there's anyway a fluent English speaker can make a break in certain areas / niches of work?

Do you know of any good executive/ retainer search firms based in SP / Rio or other place that could help me look into that.. Brazil/ Arg related job opps for English speaking "experienced" expats?

I wouldnt mind learning Portuguese once I get a job or I move there. It will be part of acclimatizing & surviving. But, I'd be hard pressed to start learning and not find a fitting opportunity (I am sure Corporate Portguese writing skills would have to be much better than casual Port speaking to women on the streets ??)

Your thoughts?
