I just arrived in Lima about 5 days ago. I am here to study spanish. I applied for a bunch of grants and scholarships and got a shitload of free money to study here for the next 6 months. I have about 3 weeks until classes start so I'm gonna be doing some boucning aroudn until then.

On the flight all the chicks (foreigners and Peruvians) were very receptive to some chit chat. One peruvian from the plane i am supposed to go on a little valentines date this evening but I dont know if I want to go with her. I knew I was coming here for some time now so I did some pipelining. A strange thing happened at the airport in Lima as two different chicks were there to pick me up. Luckily I snuck out with one of them not seeing me.

First night I banged a colombian chick at my hostel. The last few days have consisted of going on one date after the next. One surprising thing about Peru is that because everyone lives with their parents, there is a lot of public affection. Almost all the dates consist of a lot of initial resistence to even touching their hand or something, but they ease into kissing very quickly. I mean heavy makeout sessions on the street, but they all slap me if i try to touch their asses on the street. At first I felt like a pornstar when making out in the streets because I felt like all eyes were on me, but nobody gives a shit. Only one of the 5-7 dates has resulted in a bang, but if i seem them again I'm sure it'll happen.

The dates consist of going to restaurants or bars. I'm going to have to insist on just going for walks with some beers or just sitting and drinking at the park because these dates can get expensive. I dont know how much money these chicks have, but they seems to have enough. Sometimes I do just pay for myself but i feel like a dick and usually just pick up the check. Twice the chicks have picked up the bill which was nice. That gesture of kindness will ensure a 2nd date even if they are somewhat less hot

Other agendas. Find an apartment which I think I already foudn. Gym for boxing/bjj which there are plenty and I went to one yesterday. Another nice things is the pullup and dip/exercise bars near the beach. I would like to lift weights but its summer here now and its much more enjoyable to run aroudn the beach and do calesthenics. I talked to some peruvian dudes there and they invited me to join their group on sundays. I have a very minor job that is almost more like a volunteer gig writing articles about my travels for elementrary school kids. Its a shame I wont be able to tell them about fucking chicks and trying to buy coke. Another thing I want to do is get a local bank accout which is going to be a bit more complicated than i imagined. Back when online poker was more legal in the states I had a modest monthly revenue stream (300-500$) which I would like to resume.

Sorry for the shitty writing and misspelling but i dont feel like editing this. If anyone has any questions/suggestions let me know. Also, if anyone wants to get together and meet up let me know. One final observation is that the chicks here are not as ugly. If people seem interested, I will update this when i feel like writing

This sounds like something I could get down with. I always wanted to make Peru my first SA destination to work on my Spanish and gaming Spanish chicks there where it may be a bit easier then jumping straight into Colombia.
How did you go about getting the grants an scholarships?

Also when you find a apartment let me know...I'm interested in the housing prices as well.

thanks creepin. There are shitloads of furnished apartments all for about $300 for a nice room in a house or apartment. USually the rooms have a private bathroom and sometimes not.

Usuallly foreigners live in these types of places. For example, one house I looked at has three french chicks living there. Others have South Americans. Some have views of the beach some are really close to the center of town.

I think its nice to have some roommates especially in a new city where I dont know anybody.

Food can be really cheap too. For a nice 2 course meal with a juice costs between 8-12 soles or $3-4 and its good ass food.

As far as the grants go they are all just for students. The Pell grant is automatic and can be applied to study abroad. The secret is going on an independent, unstructured study abroad trip. Otherwise you'll go as part of a shitty program and will only meet people from your school or whatever. The other is called the Gilman scholarship and is good for about $5k. These are only for poor people though. Hope that helps

I just said mediocre chicks in the title because it sounded funny. There are plenty of hot peruvian chicks here.

I just moved into a new apartment with 3 Peruvians, and almost the first thing I had to do was take a dump. I didn't clog the toilet but there was one pesky little turd that wouldn't flush. I didn't want to say to them, "Hi nice to meet you, can you help me with my turd that won't flush." I had a problem on my hands. I couldn't leave it there because it would leave a bad first impression. I started to panic. If I asked them to help they would witness my gringo shit for sure. It seems insane now, but the idea that came to me at the time was to fish the turd out with a plastic bag and throw it out the window of the bathroom. That is exactly what I did. Luckily the bag landed on a roof and not on the sidewalk. My god, what am I doing with my life. I throw bags of shit out the window. Jesus christ.

I definitely agree that there are plenty of hot chicks around, especially in Lima. Will you see the high level that you see in Brazil & Argentina? Definitely not, but the receptiveness of the Peruanas compared to Argentina is nice. Brazil is still better hands down...

I preferred Barranco to Mira Flores. To me it felt less gringoed out and a little more "bohemian" if you will. Ayahuasca on Av. San Martin is a cool bar to start the night at, it's a giant house with multiple rooms. Standard Latin America with tables & chairs everywhere, but my friend and I met some girls there and ended up going to another bar with them. The drinks are a bit expensive, but it had quite a few cute girls.

Also, El Dragon in Barranco (I think) is pretty fun, although small. I got my first flag here on my first night in Peru!!!

Gotica & Aura are good, but they've already been covered in detail.

Also, if you can haggle a ride out to the beaches, Asia & Playa Silencio, they're pretty fun too. Maybe a place to take a girl(s) for the day. There are also some clubs by the beach, but we didn't venture into them.

Mine is exactly same time as yours, end of April, but I am off to Cusco and then onwards to Amazon. I did meet a really cute chick online. She is just like me with light skin, eyes, hair ect in Cuzco. Lookin forward to this So ya, it really is just a joke about the mediocre because they are no more or less hot than in T-Dot where I live now. It's about the same, but mine is certainly above average compared to a lot I have seen in t-Dot.

Had an interesting experience while batting 4 for 4 the last four days. So I met up with a chick that I met online a few days ago, and my new move is taking a walk in the park and drinking beers. Damn I just saw this thread right now. I was down in Lima in February and left March 6th. I am strongly considering returning and staying a few months as well in Lima once I get everything taken care of here. I love how everything is really cheap, well everything except for buying real estate. I could go eat at restaurants everyday and it would probably be cheaper than preparing food for myself.

I've calculated it before and I could probably survive easily on $600 a month in Lima... $300 for rent, $300 for food, entertainment, and transportation. But if I do stay awhile my budget would be over $1,000/mo because while $600/mo is doable it wouldn't be that much fun.

How much was your apartment and how did you find it? How much more would it be for your own apartment without roommates?

I live in an apartment with 3 Peruvians and a French guy. I prefer living with people because they add to your social circle and its nice to have peeps around sometimes. I found it on http://www.adondevivir.com. Live 1 block from the beach in Miraflores for about $240/month. My friend has his own 1 bedroom appt for about $400.

Creepin: the climate in Peru is drastically different from region to region. Lima is a dessert and never rains. Now is the perfect time to be here as in the southern hemisphere it is summer. The weather in Lima is rather moderate all year round, but I heard it can get gloomy in the winter but not really cold. I don't know about the seasons in the highlands or the jungle.

Yes, Peruvians are more native looking than other Latin countries, but you can easily find more traditionally Latin looking girls here as well. Not to mention the mountain of gringas and European chicks studying here or staying in hostels. If your staying in hostels, good luck. The chicks are usually hot and easy. Highly recommended.

Thanks for your reply on my earlier question. I have decided Lima Peru is where I will be going in the next few months instead of going back to the Philippines. I didn't see any places listed on that website like you found... maybe I didn't search right. I would like to find a place to live similar to how you seem to be living. Something on a month to month base thats furnished is ideal. What area am I gonna wanna stay in? Miraflores? I want it to be safe and near some malls and restaurants and such, also a gym would be cool to be near by. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated and I will buy you a beer sometime after I arrive.

I got a 183 tourist visa. Try to have a document saying that your going to be studying or something, but if you dont have anything it shouldnt be a problem.

I would stay in Miraflores. Plenty of bars and restaurants adn cafes and a shitload of parks. There is a street called the MAlecon which is on a cliff overlooking the ocean, its a pretty amazing view.

Gym membership is expensive. I workout on the malecon where there are a bunch of exercise bars. I do pushups, pull ups, differnt ab eercises, dips, and some leg exercise. The malecon is also a great place to run and to get to the beach you just climb down some steps where a lot of people surf. I am however going to join a martial arts gym to continue practicing BJJ and boxing. The price is about $40 per month.

you should be able to find plenty of rooms for rent on adondevivir, also try doomos, and craigslist. Just stay in hostels until you find the perfect place.
