His rent last weekend was 2200 pesos a day. It seems thats a bit over $50 a day. With only $7000 he needs to cut that down a lot. I wouldn't be paying $50 in rent a day unless I had atleast 2500 disposable on top of that so $4000 a month.

If I were OP i'd shack up somewhere cheap for 400-700 a month and get going with the business side. It will get harder and harder the more his savings are depleted. I hope it works out for him a lot but if I were a betting man, I'd say hes back stateside within 3 months...maybe he toughs it out for 4 if he goes super cheap the last 2 months but thats my guess.

I moved to Bangkok in December with 5000 dollars thinking I'd walk into a job (From research, way easier to get a teaching job here compared to DR and it pays way better. Plus I have all the must-have credentials for the profession i.e blonde hair, big nose, blue eyes, experience and a degree)

Two months later I've only just secured one and I could get down to as low as 300 dollars before my paycheck comes in at the end of the month.

If I didn't rock up at a 180 dollar a month apartment I'd be screwed. Two weeks ago I was budgeting to live off 8 dollars a day until the March hiring season begins and my April paycheck would theoretically come in (a worst-case scenario!). But, I got lucky with a corporate gig.

Have fun by all means, but be careful man. Last five weeks I stopped going out to make sure I stayed afloat here. That's not to say it's been boring, you just gotta be thrifty. Invite girls round for a film and fuck them rather than trying to pull from clubs. Still had a hell of a lot of fun with multiple girls despite the stressful job hunt and shit budget.

But, to give balance to both sides:

I moved to Taipei last year, got blind pissed for my first week and secured a job the same week by merely sticking my resume on the internet.

Anything can happen, just be aware of both possible scenarios. Last thing you want is for the party to end, right?

OP. the unbridled banging lol and then rule breaking like sleeping with your friend is what seem to be not good, After 30 I learned its not always about the bang, some bangs will have after effects.. now that she has feelings for you, rid if she catches you up, and kicks you out? no job and only a couples g's left will derail your entire move. This trip of yours sounds more like a spring break vacation than a sensible move. you had the right situation when you got there like free rent, I would have taken advantage of that and got right to business. the chicks aren't going anywhere..

Masdinero you don't have any experience with internet marketing? I think its the dream for guys like us, Ive been working on a few new droppshipping sites that will allow me to sell products online without ever touching a thing. Im planning to hit the Caribbean in a serious way later this year. which my startups will be in full swing by then. Ive been doing this for over 6 years and I live in California and hardly work. Arguably the third time I've jumped on his dick on this forum, but Beyond Borders' blog is good IMO. Perhaps he should take something from that.

If you jump to an Asian country, you have English teaching as a very supportive back-up. In the non-Asia part of the world though, you haven't got that back-up.

Either way, I hope he keeps himself afloat in the DR and doesn't have to return to the US any time soon. From his posts he doesn't want that.
