I still prefer the real thing...even if it means lower quality. But I have never considered porn to be the WMD that some people on the manosphere say it is. I harness my fap energy to meet the needs of every day. If I need the courage to ask out or make the moves on a girl, I won't fap for a week prior. Any longer than that i risk ending up in the paper the next day.

That being said I'm not an everyday fap advocate, or completely abstaining from it advocate. Moderation is fine and if you really need to hone in your confidence on certain occasions go twice as long without it.

1. There is a point at which the reward from chasing women becomes inferior to porn, either because the women are too low of value or because it becomes too difficult or demanding. But there is also a point at which porn becomes inferior to other ways of getting happiness. It shouldn't be compared against just sex with real women.

2. Watching porn has the potential to make you physically incapable of sex with real women, but never the opposite.

3. Real women can bring other benefits to your life other than just sex (was this Beta?). Porn will never provide you with love or other emotional experience, cook for you, bear you children or provide you with any benefit other than a strictly physical one.

4. Getting good at getting sex from real women is a skill that is rewarding both in itself and through improving other areas of life (maintaining good health, earning money, developing social skills and courage, etc.)

I have absolutely nothing against guys who have given up on women and fulfill all their needs through porn. It's an admirable choice. However, to me it seems that this thread is needlessly inflammatory and laden with

The way I see it is that activities which decrease personal freedom are bad.

If your buddy stresses over a few days without porn isn't he dependent on porn, and isn't his dependence a limiter of his personal freedom?

With porn you may have the 'freedom' to chose who/what you want to jerk it to for sexual release, but take porn away (ie. no internet connection) and you're left with a deficit of this freedom, you can no longer choose to jerk it to porn. Whereas if you jerk it to mental images or fuck real women you're only limited by the amount of effort you put into the task.

It's important that the Manosphere have some core values, some sort of belief system and identity. Otherwise we become like feminism which "isn't an philosophy, but a discussion" and all that bullshit. We have to stand for something.

I think it's important that porn NOT be a part of that, or at least in very very small amounts. I watch porn and occasionally masturbate to it, but I see the immense value in not doing it. To me it's last-resort maintenance so I don't jizz in my sheets while I'm sleeping.

As a movement that is centered in self-improvement and positive change, I think it's important that our stance on porn should be a mostly negative one. Porn does nothing to improve a man's life, and the negatives are plenty.

If you're a MGTOWer, that's fine, but you too can benefit from no porn. Your imagination is the best porn.

All that said, Cardguy definitely isn't trolling anyone. He's got a history as a solid poster that offers a lot of counter-current opinions that challenge the establishment, which is largely what red-pill is all about.

Yet - for alot of people they are here because they have an earnest desire for self-improvement in their lives.

I don't expect all threads posted here to be 5 stars-of course not. Mine aren't. And Cardguy has posted some good threads such as the Cool Hand Luke thread which I thought was interesting. But that essay would have been better posted at a film geek forum of which there are plenty. Mostly he appears to use this forum as a dumping ground for his random thoughts and musings and passive aggressive attention seeking without really contributing much of anything.

Is he a troll? I don't know, although this thread is certainly trollish. Perhaps he's been subtly mocking us for the last year in that dry British style by presenting himself as the diametrical opposite of the sort of man we aspire to be and seeing how much he could draw us into arguments or distractions.

Or perhaps he is in truth "weird" and "nutty" as he describes himself. Either way, I don't see that he contributes much of substance compared to the amount of posting he does here.

This forum has members with a wide variety of views on politics, economics, social issues, and game and who are different ethnicities, nationalities, personalities, ages and socio-economic groups and certainly there is no ideology enforced here other than expecting members to be generally on the side of men and opposed to feminism, and an expectation that they are here because they want to make themselves and their lives better.

But someone with this posting history and especially with this thread which really goes over the line in saying there is something wrong with men who prefer sex with a woman instead of rubbing themselves while staring at dots on an electronic screen, raises the question of whether another place on the web might be a more congenial home for him
