Bet. I'm either heading to Bleu or the Danny Brown party at the Masonic.

RE: Detroit and Royal Oak Data Sheet
I've been able to visit Ann Arbor a few times this year since I have friends that live in the downtown area. Here is a mini data sheet of the area.

Ann Arbor feels alot like a poor mans San Fran. There is a burgeoning start-up scene and the downtown area is very walkable, featuring alot of bike trails and the like. Living in the most logistically advantageous areas is very expensive. The city is pretty liberal featuring a weed festival, lots of hippies and everything you associate with that. For the sake of hunting you definitely want to be around during the school year which is about September-to the following May, as the scene which is already mediocre tails off precipitously in the summer. It is also consistently rated as one of the 10 most livable cities in the US.

Girls: The girls in the area are really nothing to right home about. Very plain-jane Midwestern girl-next-door types from middle class and upper middle class backgrounds.

This is probably due to the fact that University of Michigan is very difficult to get into and thus you can expect that the quality takes a bit hit for this reason. Also, there is not a ton of diversity on the scene as far as chicks go. Mostly white girls with a small minority of Indian, Black, and Asian chicks.

Scene: The scene around the university is divided into the South University(on campus) and Downtown area. They are about a 10 minute walk apart.

South End
------------------------
Charleys- A restaurant/ bar. 2 dollar pitchers on Sundays. Also gets extremely crowded on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ricks- Dance club. One word:Debauchery. Usually a long line to get into after 11 and turns into a grimy sweatbox around that time. If you're looking to get wet this is your place as its known for hook ups and chicks are pretty open. I've seen/heard some crazy shit going on in there. Hip hop, techno and pop music.

Blue Leprechaun- Bar. The epitome of a bro spot.Tons of frat and soror people in here. There's an upstairs and downstairs, which is mostly groups that already know each other.
For best results, go with at least one friend, to help occupy the the other girls in the groups you approach.

Brown Jug- Lots of tables and booths since many go to watch the game or hang with a group of friends. Not really good for pickup.

Cantina- Mexican restaurant/bar that is good on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Features good burritos and tacos. This is a 18+ spot, for those that like macking on the barely legals the weekend.

Downtown
-------------------------
Habana- Probably the best spot downtown(not saying much). Located in the basement of a Latin American restaurant called Lena. Features a bar and a dancefloor that plays mostly hiphop and pop. Hit or miss talent wise, but probably the best place to try and pull something as far as downtown goes.

Necto- 18+. Big dance club. Thursday and Friday are "Pride Night" and "Gay Night" respectively, so you probably want to go on Monday or Saturday which is college night.

BABS- A ducked off, hard to miss bar with a more mature crowd and a speakeasy feel.
Nice, laid back vibe thats conducive to approaching. There's also a ton a seating and a low ambiance so it almost doubles as a lounge.

Rush Street- Club with a big dancefloor and awful ratios.Yuppie-ish crowd.

Overall, Ann Arbor is just OK IMO for chicks. Its still worth checking out since it has quite a few highly rated restaurants, festivals, fairs, coffee shops, indy concerts and other happenings like U of M football and basketball games. For amazing uni chicks, you're better off heading to East Lansing(Michigan State), Kalamazoo(WMU), or Mount Pleasant(CMU) though.

You're on point with Ricks and Habanas. They have free one hour salsa lessons Thursdays last time I was there. I took a few girls there who were students as a date spot. I went to Ricks a couple of times up in East Lansing. Pretty easy to pick up there so I assume the same is true in AA.

I found people in AA always asked if I went to UM. If you didn't then they didn't want to socialize. Since it's a larger city and another mid size university is so close that could be a reason. Then again it's the best public university east of the Mississippi so that could be it.

Interesting. I've never had anyone ask if I went there except a couple times and even then it didn't seem like much of an issue. People always ask if I'm on the basketball or football team though kind of funny.

used to come up there to see shows back in the 90's. White Stripes played a lot of their early shows there, its a small live music venue/pool hall. back then I skateboarded and hung with a lot of punk types, my buddy there is in a punk band and that scene there is one of the best in the US, if you like the suicide girl types...

How's the real estate market over there? I'm hearing mixed things. I hear some people are buying up and others say it's a ghost town.

I recently went to a Pistons game with a friend of mine and it did not disappoint.

Tiger games host more girls but the Piston games brings a variety of ethnicities. Black girls, Asians, Latina, ME girls you name it. Many were in sets of two and threes. The atmosphere promotes as much friendliness as baseball games do but girls tend to go out in larger groups to baseball games vs basketball games from my experience.

Just walk around the atrium and you'll find sets hanging out and just waiting to be approached. We ended up chillen with this set in the 3rd and exchanging numbers. My friends girl was more DTF then mine so he already got the bang.

I agree. I actually ran into Chauncey and KCP in a bar/club the other day.

I think I might take a trip to the upper midwest to Latinify the place. this is my catcall to latinify a place: "Also, there is not a ton of diversity on the scene as far as chicks go. Mostly white girls with a small minority of Indian, Black, and Asian chicks."

Laugh jk.

I am curious to go to Detroit and see the decline there. excellent data sheet. Smile

Never been, but my boy said it sucks and there's a heavy redneck contingent that doesn't take kindly to their women being hit on. I'll probably avoid. Let me know how it is if you go.

RE: Detroit and Royal Oak Data Sheet
Can't believe I never saw this thread before, so much to comment on... where to even start?

First Coliseum, I've been there a couple times, and that place cracks me up. Last time I went I had several strippers believing my buddy played professional football in the CFL.

Second, Old Shillelagh, I actually kind of like that place... definitely trashy, but it's Detroit, what do you really expect?

I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention Gusoline Alley for Royal Oak. Not a great place to run game, but a good place to get a drink. I think Blackfinn was touched on... I'm not really a fan, too crowded/too bright to really maneuver how I want to. Luna would be my pick though. I really need to get over to Royal Oak more often though, hopefully this Summer I will.

I should really put together something more comprehensive on Ann Arbor as a couple spots went unmentioned: Live, 8Ball, and Circus in particular... as well as Heidelberg and Conor O'neills on Main, and then Mash, Arena and Bar Louie. I just haven't done it because I figured NO ONE was in this area still! I honestly need to get out of this state, try something different and warmer.

My guide for newbies to RVF.

Gusoline Alley has great beer, but no girls. Also it's cash only.
Old Shillelagh is not bad and it's has like three floors. Don't remember anything about their drinks.

Honorable mention of the two relatively new speakeasy places.
- Sugar House in Corktown (near my favorite Motor City Wine)
- The Oakland in Ferndale (do not mistake with the gay bar next door)

Both look like nothing from the outside, just a dark door with no name on it. But once you are inside you feel like a made man. These are the places worth suiting up for. Drinks are expensive (~$10), but they are good. Also, the girls are classy and surprisingly nice. There is no loud music and rarely any crowds.

No longer with us
- Caribou Caffe in Royal Oak (under remodeling)
- Barnes and Noble in Royal Oak (shutting down)

Royal Oak beer Fest (I think that's the name) is coming up in late April. Could be hit or miss but usually those types of things are sausage parties...

RE: Detroit and Royal Oak Data Sheet
You know what's a dope bar in Royal Oak? Commune. It's right across the street from Blackfin. I never noticed it because whenever I walked by it I thought it was a restaurant. The first floor is a restaurant but if you go downstairs it's a bar, and its surprisingly bangin. I would definitely recommend checking it out...actually looking back at the first page you did recommend this place Mentavious.

And about Ann Arbor, there is some SERIOUS talent in that city, but it's almost like the economy in the US, it's concentrated in a few hands. Social circle game is king in this city as most girls are incredibly average/below average looking. I knew a few guys in frats and they used to bang really bad bitches and do a lot of coke, but I think it's pretty hard to meet high level talent in AA without being pretty connected to the clicky social scene. I actually got in a bit of trouble in this city recently so I don't think I'll be getting drunk there for a while.

I've never been to The Penthouse, but I like Trumpps as far as strip clubs go. I actually have some pretty funny stories about going to that place, but I haven't been in a while. I used to kick it with the DJ who played there and he used to put me on girls who worked there. I haven't been out in Royal Oak in a minute though.

RE: Detroit and Royal Oak Data Sheet
I’m very interested in Detroit metro area. I’m looking to make plans for a visit in July/Aug, I have a few questions:

- It seems like Royal Oak is poppin. Any recommendations on hotels downtown? Preferably a spot with a bar/lounge downstairs. For logistics purposes.
- I have this stereotype of Midwestern white chicas as on the thicker side, polite, and easygoing. Any thoughts about optimizing my game? Can swoop a few girls over a 4 day weekend, using my high end, New England game? Or more down to earth approach (new in town, like it here) is required?
- My trip serves a dual purpose: scouting the area as a potential move destination and also gaming local girls/checking out nightlife. For this dual purpose: I have Royal Oak, Dearborn (I’m Middle Eastern), and Ann Arbor on deck to visit. Are there any other towns/cities you recommend keeping in mind that I’d like get a good feel for the region?

Sounds you guys have a nice setup between easy access to females and a decent cost of living.
