Either it's a terrible country to approach, you come off as creepy or you need to work on your looks.
When I getting comfortable with approaching, I would only approach girls a point below me or on equal level in looks. Helped me build up the momentum and initial confidence. Might help you

I really don't get this thing of going after numbers, specially if you didn't even build a connection, it's totally non-sense, and the worse is that some people think that getting the number count as something.

Personally I just ask for a number after making out and liking it, or if I had a great conversation with the girl and I want see her again ( before asking for the number I would try to get a kiss ), actually it's rare for me to ask for the number of a girl that I didn't kissed.

Agreed, notches are the only honest metric.

Numbers are a good metric for day game. Night not so much. Girls will give there number out to anything.

For day game, you NEED the numbers or else you will never see her again.
