I think it's wrong in this case to look to media to validate the popularity of Asian women. Lucy Liu is probably the only Asian actress to work somewhat regularly in either television or film. Ming Na has done some stuff, and maybe Tamlyn Tomita, but most of them only get gigs in films that call specifically for Asians. Joan Chen had her moment many years ago. Liu is the only one I can think of that gets mainstream stuff that a white actress would normally get. Michelle Yeoh only gets martial arts/action roles, and most of her work is still done in China.

White male/Asian woman matches aren't a burgeoning trend. When white males have married outside their race, it's frequently been with an Asian woman. Asian women were often referred to as the "model minority." There was a trend for a time of white couples adopting Asian children also.

Not trying to derail the thread into a politics thread...

I've had a conversation about the likelyhood of an Asian person in the White House with my Asian friends. I could see an Indian-American making it e.g. Bobby Jindal (who is Indian-American) was touted a possible runner against Obama a couple of years ago but he fucked up a speech so he didn't make the cut.

I think the only way you will see an Asian-American in the White House in the near future is as the wife of the President.

I think you may be right - I never even looked at Asian women when I lived in UK. The Asian women in California are a lot better than the (very few) I saw in the UK. Conversely, the Indian women in the US are pretty horrible - they're way better in the UK.

Men were dumped as the target demographic for ESPN? They have a 5% female viewership. That would make no sense.

It doesn't matter who they're owned by, their goal is appealing to their biggest demographic which is young men which is why all of their newer and more popular anchors have trended towards younger guys and more attractive females. Sportscenter has had the no-frills layout since forever. Disney is capable of appealing to differing demographics, they do it on the channel with their namesake with programming designed to appeal to different age groups and sexes.

Never once did I say that the majority of media does not cater to women. I agree completely with that point.

Even the male dominated markets are becoming increasingly feminized.

But in the end, there do still exist markets where men make up the majority consumer. In those markets you are going to get at least an idea of the tastes of the average male consumer. You think women give a fuck about Jeff Van Gundy?

Sure, they force some shit down people's throats but they also research the fuck out of demographics and their preferences.

Yes. A lot of young women are like that. Their metabolisms still haven't slowed down and they can get away with not working out. They take their figures for granted. I've seen it a number of times with girls I new in high school. They aren't ready for it and one day they just explode. I can usually tell just by looking at their arms.
