I think that our intelligence should be well rounded. Social intelligence, financial intelligence, emotional intelligence, self-intelligence (knowledge of self), chaotic intelligence, etc, etc.

If we are only intelligent in one area, we are only prepared to succeed in that single area. Life is often very complex. Life requires us to be knowledagble in multiple areas at the same time.

Use your intelligence to be funny, use your intelligence to acquire power and money, use your intelligence to put yourself in situations were you will be surronded by the type of women who like guys like you. Use your intelligence to address and fix your biggest problem -- women!

Most successful comedians are extremely intelligent AND they are also attractive to women. Why? They focused their intelligence into areas that women consider attractive.

If you can't get laid, how smart are you? Sex is our most basic and fundamental duty as a man. If we can't accpmplish that, we should reconsider the way we focus our brain power.

Lol, people seem to be missing the point and derailing the conversation here. This isn't a discussion about whether not all smart guys are nerdy, and confusing high intelligence with dorky behavior.

The main point made by Roissy is that the women in the survey didn't seem to actively look for intelligence, ie, in a list of things women say they want, intelligence doesn't rank high.

This is not surprising, but I would like to explain this from another perspective. Humans, and in particular women, are driven by a huge urge to quell their cognitive dissonance. The community explains this by talking about the rationalization hamster. This is an extension of the same principle:
"If I am not very smart, then I can't actively state that smart people are attractive, because that would make me unattractive."

If you take a bunch of physically attractive women that consider themselves attractive because of their bodies and ability to be chill, it is natural that they would state these as the qualities that make everyone attractive.

This makes sense, because intelligence by itself is useless. All that matters is what you're able to do with your intelligence.

Think of it like this: would a man want to date the hottest woman in the world if she never never had sex with him? Of course not. Her beauty would be wasted.

It's the same thing with intelligent men. Women don't give a fuck about your high IQ score by itself. It means nothing to them. This is why nerds get no play. As far as women are concerned, their high IQs don't even register, because they aren't being exercised in a practical (sociosexual) manner.

Hide? why?

Higher intelligence is a form of dominance. Like everything in life, it all depends on how you finesse it.

For example, one of the most socially acceptable way to display higher intelligence is comedy.

The funnier a comedian is, it is almost guaranteed the higher their intelligence.

It is hard to see a really good comedian that is dumb.

Good Comedy: thoughtful, intelligent social observations(basically, pattern recognition of social interactions) delivered in light-hearted manner through good story telling and physicality.

that is comedy in a nutshell.

Instead of turning that razor sharp intelligence inward, direct some of it outward. that is what really good comedians do.

Watch people and their mannerisms and take note: this is the chief source material of comedy.

On high IQ popular males with hot chicks, some people brought up james wood here....i think Dolph Lundgren is a better example: fulbright scholarship to MIT for advanced, graduate studies in chemical engineering; graduated from Amphibious Ranger school military training; graduated 1st in his class(masters degree) at the best school in australia(university of sydney); world class karate champion fighter. a male fashion model. etcetera.

This might be my fault for not saying more in the original post. I didn't suddenly discover last night that talking to girls about rare video game collecting and differential equations won't get you laid. That's common sense even outside of game forums. It's more about the point Roissy was making where, all things being equal, high IQ types generally don't do nearly as well sexually as average or below average IQs.

I almost feel like women have a sixth sense for identifying these types of guys and disqualifying them, or they just never really develop sexual attraction to this type of personality. Intelligence can be obnoxious without social grace.

In general you will appear more wise if you do not go out of your way to butt in to someone's conversation to one-up them and be humble about your own intelligence.

When with a person of lower intelligence do not condescend but be patient and if she is not an idiot she will grasp your intelligence. Make connections between things, ask probing questions, demonstrate instead of lecturing, etc.

Agree and amplify works just fine with intelligence. My last notch asked if I was smart and I said 'I'm incredibly intelligent, I'm definitely the smartest guy you've ever met'. It's not as if you're ever going to gain new knowledge from a chicka anyway. Honestly, ask yourself, when was the last time you learned something from a woman? Unless it was in the job training, or something from a gossip blog, it never happens. Never. Talking to a Girl about economic theory is the same as talking to her about sports, she'll absolutely eat it up so long as you lead the interraction correctly. Smart is fine, brilliant is bad.

Most of the posts here concern "smart" men.

Being smart doesn't present anywhere near the issues that being brilliant does.

Imagine driving a race car on roads designed for Toyotas.

You can't just say, "Drive the race car slowly!" It doesn't work that way.

But unless you're IQ is in the range where people say things like, "He's one of the smartest people I've ever met," professors praise you and try brining you under their wings, etc., then there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between smart and brilliant.

What specifically should a man do?

I know what I did.

I stopped looking to make any sort of intellectual connection with women. I learned to "keep things light."

I read well over 100 books (and far more articles in serious scientific journals) on personality development, social psychology, psychopathology, narcissism, body language, etc.

I basically used the same brain that had served me so well in an academic environment to learn human psychology and persuasion.

Really smart people tend to live in their heads more and have to learn to get "outside" of their heads.

That means ending the non-stop intellectual inner monologue.

Stop probing for deeper meaning and truth.

Just getting jacked and dressing well.

Now I basically look like a caveman. No one would guess how smart I am.

I'm physical and always escalating. Always aggressive. Very intense.

I'll occasionally use my knowledge of social interactions to play fun games like, "Look around. Can you guess who is on a date? Who is on a third date?"

And to play games that sexualize our own date, "Is that guy going to get laid tonight?" Let her talk. Then say, "Nah, he's too shy. Look how timid he is." Then pull the girl close into you, tight, look her in the eye, smirk, and push her away.

"See, that's how a guy shows a woman she is desired."

But all of this takes substantial time to learn and someone could probably write a 100 page or so ebook marketed to the highly intelligent man.

There's two different issues here. Some guys don't get laid because they're nerds, and often aren't even smart at all. But its true that guys who are 'brilliant' don't always do as well as you'd expect. My dad went to Wharton, got an MBA and the professors thought he was so smart him they offered him a Phd in economics in just 1.5 years. He's got an IQ over 160, but he now works in a trade.
A guy who goes to an Ivy League university/ Oxbridge, should be enjoying his good luck. You've got all the tools to succeed, but aren't going to spend your whole life frustrated that you're not a billionaire or doing something monumental.

Mike's right.

A man only has so much time.

He needs to split it between his brain and his boner.

When you learn to consolidate these two factions, then you are acting as single entity.

Make your body hard, like a full body erection. That turns girls on, and feeling your muscles flex all the time will take your attention away from your head.

If you can't feel your body's presence, nobody else will.

You need to feel heavy like an ape, even if you aren't ripped. You have to move with gravitas. Can you feel the weight of your fists, or is all the tension in your body blocking your energy?

^ A brilliant brain just moves faster and operates differently than a smart brain or an average brain.

Think of the dumbest person you know. Not someone who is mentally retarded or anything, but someone who functions normally in society but you just think, "Man, that guy is dumb." Someone who is just slow and plodding and doesn't follow along or "keep up."

To someone with a really high IQ, that is what talking to a smart person feels like.

Now that doesn't mean you can't find a way to effectively communicate or relate to a dull person.

Just like having a high IQ doesn't mean it's impossible to relate to a smart person or above average person.

But it definitely takes a certain set of skills and requires mastery of learned behavior.

An evolution. Always fit and aggressive from fighting background. I just kept that in a box. "Fit and aggressive to fight, not meet women."

Then I took it out of that box and started applying it to my game. It worked like crazy.

Suffice it to say that most men are not nearly as masculine, dark, dominant, or assertive as they could be.

As far as intelligence torpedoing you, I'm finding it's learning what NOT to do as well-- you don't want to reveal your hyper-sensitivity to tense situations. I think intelligence may co-vary with anxiety

I'm finding when I make a joke and try to deadpan and her expression starts to move towards bafflement, I ruin the sexual tension by cracking up and I can see her attraction crumble as I giggle.

They want some kind of solidity which slower guys have, it actually is strength in a form, strength which I don't have--I know I'd rather be dead than work full time 25 years without a significant break to raise a kid through college and all that.

This is just a fancy way of saying that high IQ people are marrying and having kids with high IQ spouses, and low IQ people are doing likewise. In the past, there'd be more mixing of people of disparate cognitive ability. The classic scenario is the corporate executive marrying his secretary.

Of course, who cares about who marries whom when it comes to game?

Funny that you ended up bringing up assortative mating, because that is likely a key driver in why dumber men get more sex--they associate with dumber girls, who have lower impulse control and higher discount rates--and are thus sluttier.

And dumber men have lower impulse controls and higher discount rates themselves--that's why you see so many lower SES men drill and wife up some utter wilderbeasts, whereas a fair number of high-IQ betas still end up with girlfriends who are 6's+.

Physical attractiveness and intelligence also broadly correlate--both are the result of low genetic load.

Net net, I think high intelligence is a wash.

It's an advantage for interacting with girls who are maybe within 1 standard deviation of you, but a disadvantage otherwise--it is not easy to build rapport with someone significantly dumber or smarter than you. And because most of us are on the right tail of intelligence, we're going to mostly be running into girls materially dumber than us--hence why alcohol consumption helps make interacting with girls less painful.

So from a pure population bell curve perspective--high intelligence is a disadvantage. However, as others pointed out, one can leverage high IQ to figure out ways to better oneself in passive or active game.
