I'm not all that old, but old enough to say that I have been in the bars for like 10 years now. I had a reminiscent grin on my face just watching the vibe of that bar because its so far gone from how it used to be. I can't even remember the last time I seen feminine chill girls in the bar like that. The women their looked open to being approached and talked to and were for the most part in small workable groups, no cell phones, etc.

I'm not sure how old that video is but I can tell its dated because people are dressed plain, no cell phones, and the dudes are all wearing shitty dress shirts.

It was developed in a different era and culture.

I had a period where I did Mystery game word for word. And it worked really well.

Mystery is a magician, an illusionist. He used his illusionist skills to get girls. He created the illusion that he was an alpha and was in high demand by hot girls. They were tricks. Some people can pull off tricks, others can not.

I think a lot of people prefer something less flamboyant and more down to earth.

The only thing "flamboyant" about Mystery is his clothes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

His social advice is just basic human psychology.

You could dress "normal" and follow the same patterns of interactions.

However, "normal" can be boring to a girl. Most of their lives are "normal" and boring. They want a make to take them to a sexy, exciting, and new place.

In terms of getting girls, OTHER-WORLDLY is probably better then "down to earth".

Exactly. You can talk to a girl, get her number, text her and likely take her to your house at some point. But, when it comes to smashing that cookie, its a different ball game. Many girls will definitely go to your house but not the bedroom. It's important to get past LMR and find ways to get the girl in bed smoothly. So far, LMR should be discussed at greater length since flaking from LMR is a big problem from what I seen and heard.

I'm currently rereading the Mystery Method and I personally think it's the greatest book on social dynamics ever written. I understand that for a newbie, the jargon might be kind of a turn off but if one truly takes their time to really understand the concepts within the book, then they will benefit tremendously from it.

In my opinion, Mystery should be respected more by current PUA's mainly cause he established the framework that they use to this day.

I remember telling one of my analytical friend about MM, and he was all intrigued by it.

I told him, you can either do MM or just don't give a shit about anything. Approach any, all girl anywhere, anytime and just assume the sales and escalate. Either method will work. He said he prefer MM.

The major problem with MM is guys get stuck in their heads and not being in the moment. Someone alluded to that observation about Mystery. Once you are stuck in your head thinking if she says x, I say y, you vibe gets affected. We all know that the vibe is the most important element of attraction. Vibe is all the subtle body language you project that makes you attractive.

If you ever meet a really good natural, you'll see them calibrate on the fly just like Mystery, they may even neg once in a while, but it is all done unconsciously. The really good naturals some how learn this so early in life that it is integrated in their being so they can execute MM white being in the moment and not stuck in their heads. Most of us trying to learn it at an older age cannot pull it off. Hence the RSD guys started being so focused on having fun, being in state.

I think the very, very loose skeleton of MM is good. Other than that, most of us benefit a bit more form having fun, not giving a shit, maybe occasional DHV if it occus to us.

I never used MM to get laid and still dont. But it helped me understand socio sexual dynamics. Every time you mentally identify a shit test, amog, dhvs and lmrs you are using MM to deconstruct a social scene.

I use elements of his teachings. Game isn't easy and for newbies, its very confusing, especially when you get different pieces of advice. Mystery is the only PUA (at least that I know of) who has systematically broken down the process of gaming into distinct phases. When I first started out and watched RSD videos, I was applying techniques randomly (ie. a kino close move would be used just after an opener) and whilst I was grateful I was at least talking to a girl, the interaction didn't get very far.

Now I am more aware of the timeline of how to apply routines, isolations etc.

I also gained a lot of insight into the female mind and can understand/read their reactions much better than before.

Mystery is cliche PUA because most dudes aren't Mystery. His style is not natural for most people. You can fake Mystery and it might work for a while but you can't keep it up because you're faking it.

He was a classic introverted intuitive with extraverted feeling.

I reckon his game style is natural to less than 10% of guys.

I learned a few things from MM, but never implemented his method because way too technical (A-1, C-3, etc) which made me think too much and killed the flow/vibe.

Also I'm convinced that "social -> seductive -> sexual" is a much better framework than MM's "attraction -> comfort -> seduction" framework. The former puts more emphasise on escalation. In the end you create comfort mostly by not being needy, which you must show during the whole interaction.

Huh. I went out last night to 2 hipster bars in my city and got curious, unsolicited IOI/openers from 2 girls by just sitting at the bar and being cool and aloof, sipping my beer, in my back military jacket, while surrounded by hipsters. I got a third IOI from a girl on the street outside afterwards while standing against the wall eating a brat. "Hey, what are you eating there??" This was one of the core tenants of Tom Leykis 101. It seems it would fit in A2 category of MM. I think it helps if you're good looking.

I like how MM puts a road map in front of you, how he breaks down female psychology scientifically. The acronyms/lingo sounds fucking silly, but it's true, oh so true. When a friend of mine first introduced me to his material via his video seminars, his differentiation between "Attraction" and "Comfort" talk really cleared things up for me. Cold Reading, DHVs, relational banter, etc.

You have to remember MM was also developed in hardcore *NIGHT* venues: clubs, bars, etc in an age before smart phones. A lot of hate for MM is because this stuff will make you look like a jackass if you do it in broad daylight in more relaxed environments.

On that note, I think Roosh's coining of Night Game/Day Game and his GALNUC tactic is solid gold. I learned bait dropping by trial-and-error on my own when chatting up girls in coffee shops, shopping malls, bookstores, etc., but it would have really helped if I had Day Bang all those years ago to help lay it out more clearly for me.

Resurrecting this thread again.

I remember when I discovered Mystery Method reading the book The Game by Neil Strauss.

use a few Mystery Method things, but adapted to my personality such as the peacoking (I use a nice suit, blazers with Levi's jeans and nice shoes), the DHV (confident walking, having a relaxed attitude), and the basics of that method (opening, attraction, seduction and sex). Also, thanks to the MM I understood the basics of social interaction and useful things like the shit tests (11 years ago I had no idea why girls do that). Today I only read MM when I feel nostalgic about the good times.

Nowadays I only use gaming tips from this forum, obviously adapted to my personality.

Mystery deserves all the credits he is due, give the guy a break, and a medal.

Consider the fact that he is a fragile, emotional guy, he was willing to put in all the work at that time when there was no official leading authority figure on the subject. He laid the groundwork for everything we had to day, and one of the first who correctly map out the seduction roadmap of that period. LMR, buyer remorse, negs, peacocking etc. all were largely thanks to him.

Saying that he was silly because of his style is like saying the bow was useless as the first tool for organized hunting, because the guy wielding it was an inbred caveman.

If somebody applies MM to today's situation letter by letter, he deserves a kick in the head anyway.

When you boil it down, attraction-comfort-seduction is still the proven way to carry out a textbook pickup. The fact that smartphones, alcohol and feminism fuck shit up just mean that men need to adapt, not to abandon the foundation of the game.

I dont personally use MM but I know guys who do and recognize its values, and would still buy MM a beer for all he did.

The experienced players can, of course, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I understand correctly the main complaint today about Mystery's approach to seduction science is that it was a little too one-dimensional. Mystery had the science of it down, and in fact was the main innovator of it, but whiffed on the lifestyle aspect of it. He was broke and his physical and emotional health wasn't very robust.

Nowadays, the focus is more on a whole-life approach to game, i.e. it's a lifestyle not a hobby that you engage in when you hit the club on a Thursday night. Your focus should be on putting game into everything you do- career, family relationships, lifestyle, athletics, fitness, and in your approaches to women. Now, you're a neomasculine, high-value, ambitious, goal-achieving, successful man. Much more than a pick-up artist.

Anyway, I personally still try to use his techniques: compliance testing, cat string / hot-cold, etc because that stuff works and Mystery deserves the credit for figuring it out an operationalizing it.
