I will be happily called a cunt for criticizing a misinformed and emotion-driven post on this forum. I'm am neither an American atheist, nor an internet atheist and I don't identify with them either. It is just very telling that once the Christians feel attacked with logic and facts, they resort to the same name-calling tactics as the feminists.

Calling people butt-hurt for anything you don't like is exactly the same as the knee-jerk reaction of the Jezebel writers with their creepy.

I'm not butt hurt when I'm arguing this. I like the subject and used to discuss it a lot as a younger kid. I didn't ask for anyone to get banned in the other thread; I was the one getting a ban for my tone.

I love heated debate where both sides are passionate but reasonable.

What's happening with religion on RVF, is that the religious guys make some statements, and once these are challenged by other members, many of them resort to fallacies/selective hearing/trolling.

Why not discuss it?

Is it because minds are made up already, and the facts have to be bend to fit your preferred ideology?

Where have we heard this before?

If we look at the western world where we have the opportunity to eat more than we need, Its easy to see how fatness and religion go hand in hand.

The article seemed somewhat trollish (that's OK by me) and while the atheist community in general are obese poseurs, the religious are not much better. I was raised Catholic but am an atheist.

Most people who describe themselves as religious probably never bothered to read The Bible - if they can't even sit down for an hour a day for (maybe?) three weeks and finish off a book that's about as long as anything Michener ever wrote then why would they ever deserve to avoid eternal damnation? It's probably the most sold book in human history but inexplicably the least read.

Go to church sometime and ask everybody to raise their hand if they've read "50 Shades of Grey" (should be pretty much all hands up, very few men bother going anymore), then to raise their hand if they've read The Bible (five, six hands maybe, all liars, likely). The only person I could have serious religious discussions with was the pastor.

Catholicism in particular should purge their membership, separating "believers" from "churchgoers" and creating standards for who should be allowed to go to church - e.g; must have a comprehensive understanding of The Bible at the very least. They've focused so long on just converting every soul they could get their hands on that they've forgotten to earn the obeisance of the people, unlike Islam.

How about pointing out that higher income people are more likely to eat better and work out at the gym? And that such people are more likely to be atheist?


Or how about just focusing on banging hot women and stop writing shit about religion and politics etc.

I hope I'm not giving away the secret here, but go look at how many responses other RoK articles get on this forum. Now compare that to this "fucking ridiculous" one.
