"The Anti-Male Craziness at Yale"
http://www.mindingthecampus.com/forum/20..._yale.html
Quote:As Yale guidelines say, "the goal is to achieve a resolution that is desired by the [accuser]." Generally, we do not have processes in which the goal is to benefit the accuser, and this procedure is designed to give the accuser choice of and control over the process.
For a year, just how "expansive" this definition wasn't wholly clear, until, in its February 2013 report, Yale unveiled a category called "intimate partner violence," which spanned the gap from sexual assault to a student threatening a roommate with "economic abuse."
So in two different ways, Yale has made it considerably more likely that the school's students would be branded rapists. First, it changed procedures to make determinations of guilt more likely (or, in the cases of "informal" complaints, all but certain). Second, it dramatically broadened the definition of sexual assault to include activities that are not, in fact, considered sexual assault in any criminal jurisdiction in the country.
Quote:The editorial asserted that "the preferred punishment for nonconsensual sex at Yale must be expulsion." Again, keep in mind that Yale's definition of "intimate partner violence" includes threatening your roommate with "economic abuse." The "preferred punishment" for such an offense, according to the student newspaper, "must be expulsion." Expulsion for withholding money from a girlfriend or causing her worry? That ought to satisfy the "activists."
Some scary shit.

RE: "The Anti-Male Craziness at Yale"
Economic abuse is one of the biggest steaming piles of bullshit to have appeared in feminist writing in recent decade, and is trickling its way down to actual laws and regulations as we speak. It labels literally everything that a woman doesn't like as abuse.
For example, if a man prevents her from using their joint money however she likes, it's abuse. However, it is also abuse if he uses their joint money without asking her for permission. Also, complaining (no, not threatening, manipulating or using force to achieve something - COMPLAINING) about the way the woman spends her money. It's insane.
Of course, it also ignores the fact that, if economic abuse as described is abuse, then women are at least 20x as guilty as men here. Most girls will eagerly nag about money.

"Joint money"?
If you get joint money with a woman, you are asking for it just as much as a scantily clad white girl is by prancing through the Puerto Rican day parade.

Hehe don't worry, even if it's your money and you refuse to give it to her it's still abuse ;-)

I'm still pondering because I live in Croatia, where you can at least have an illusion that things aren't so bad (although we've recently gotten several harsh new laws concerning rape, domestic violence, divorce, paternity, prostituion and so on) copied from Sweden, so you can easily tell which way things are going). Feminism isn't nearly as strong as in USA or Australia here, but it's way stronger than it should be for our level of economic development. Poland is now more developed than Croatia and has much less of it, and Czech Republic is significantly richer and isn't too infested either.
That said, I applaud your decision and wish you all the best!
