I'm looking to make a solo trip somewhere starting in the end of July for a couple of weeks before I start school.

I've never been anywhere outside of the US by myself, so pretty much everywhere is open. I can't spend that much money though. I want a mix of relaxation, new experiences, and girls.

I'd like to go to Europe, but I hear August is a terrible time since that's when all the Euros are traveling themselves. Is this true of Eastern Europe as well?

Come on guys. I really need to take a trip and my only time is in August. There doesn't seem to be anywhere worth going in August. Help!

You didn't get replies because your question is too open ended. If you have it narrowed down to a few countries then I'm sure others will share their experiences.

im open to anywhere but most realistically Caribbean (Jamaica?), Europe and S. America. Specifically E. Europe and Brazil, Peru, or Colombia.

I'd avoid Peru unless you like archeology.

Colombia is good if you don't have a lot of travel experience, as it's relatively safe. Plus it's very affordable. If you speak a bit of spanish you should have a shot with the girls if you work.

Brazil breaks the bank (it broke mine anyway) and the real is getting strong again.

thanks Roosh. im leaning towards Colombia, but I'm surprised you say it's good for a novice traveler. are you planning on writing up a guide for Colombia while you're there? do you recommend staying in a hostel in Bogota?

Fatima hostel in the Candelaria district is the best place to stay if you want a hostel in Bogotá

About $10 per night and the hostel has wifi, it's own bar and (on some nights) a good DJ.

Bogota, San Gil ,Medellin , Cali Up along the coast . A bunch of towns and some national parks to visit .

Yes I do want to write a guide, but i've only been to bogota and medellin so far.
Medellin has better weather and is more manageable due to its smaller size and subway. The girls are slightly better i'd say.

Colombia is a great move, but don't discount the beaches of France and Spain in August.

Its on like Vietnam.

Eastern Europeans tend to travel themselves in the summer. I'd go where they go.

If you want to party all the time relatively cheaply (or at least not too expensive partying), I'd recommend Cyprus (especially places like Ayia Napa) - it's going to be packed with party-going Eastern Europeans, which is great. And you're not going to spend half of your vacation on a toilet, which is what can really happen in Latin America.

I just spent the last year and a half in Latin America. I did not get food poisoning once despite routinely eating street food.

Good for you. That depends on a country and a place and what kind of water they have (I'm not talking about food poisoning, if you eat friend/grilled you should be safe - I'm more concerned about water and water has stuff that will make you sicker than food poisoning). In any case, Cyprus has gotten some great reviews and I'll try to check it out end of summer/September myself.

that sounds exciting. what part of Cyprus exactly? getting there seems pretty expensive though, from Prague at least.

I got diarrhea for like 2 full days just from a pizza in Mendoza. Got it a few times in Chile and once in San Pedro de Atacama had to find some bushes to hide behind and let loose as my stomach started rumbling while I was mountain biking in the middle of nowhere. Didn't get it in Brazil but spent several days straight feeling nauseous everytime I ate and almost got sick in a department store. My guess is that I swallowed too much ocean water off the beach in Rio. Their water probably has all kinds of bugs in it given the runoff from all favelas and stuff going straight into the ocean.

Never got the runs once in my month spent in Europe.

Ayia Napa is the place that has a lot of parties, I've heard. Apparently, you fly to Larnaca (not the capital) and then Ayia Napa is an hour bus ride or so. I'm sure it's not that difficult to get there from Prague since Cyprus is a major European trip destination. If you go, I'd be curious to hear about it.
