Yeah, I've never actually been one to submit to a [human] authority figure and trust that the person will "guide me" the right way. When I've done experimental shit it was either with my best friend and we both know we'll support each other and help each other out if shit goes wrong, or with a cool chick who was down. Many girls cant handle psychedelics though.

Kumare is actually a really good documentary, I highly recommend it, interestingly although he poses as a guru and it's all a shame, he does actually come up with some really good philosophical insights and teachings.

I am just going to throw down my experiences with friends who have been smoking a lot of DMT over the past year. For the record, I have not tried it (yet).

I have been highly observant of their behaviors both before and after their experiences. Keep in mind how they describe it is exactly the same as others describe it. Its beautiful.

Now for what I have noticed that has concerned me the most, is the growing divide between those that have tried it and those that have not. There is an attitude that my friends have adopted that they know the secrets to the universe and are somehow more enlightened, elite (for talking with the DMT goddesses) and that there is no way the rest of us (that have not tried it) will ever understand.

They have no patience for any "dumb questions" or any "questionable negativity". In their eyes it is only positive, not a single negative. Hence, they seem to smoke it recreational (once or twice a week).

It has turned one of my best friends into a manipulated man. For all of the time I have known him he has had amazing skills with women, natural red pill kind of guy. Now he has this total love for freaky (DMT goddess type look) women and spends his time following their every command and involving himself into their drama to the point where it consumes him.

A Croatian buddy and I had to put it to him bluntly. His desire to believe that the world is made only of love, and that all women (and men, possibly) deserve to have this, has made him an easy target. Our Croat friend thinks it has turned him "30% gay".

I am inclined to agree.

Got a few friends who have taken the journey with 'the mother healer'.

Supposedly the plant will find you when it is the right time for you.

You can't eat pork a week before and it's said to not eat meat for a week before.

My one friend took it and saw his past lives. Said he also sees life for what it is now and that nothing is real. He also got a very hot model girlfriend since but he always dated hot girls so no surprise there.

My other friend it totally changed him. He's very indifferent and doesn't really care about anything but doing handstands and human flags.

My third friend is the exact same. Smokes weed all day everyday and is still an annoying person.

My fourth and final friend I know who took it is a complete maniac. He's become a music artist, writing songs and going to open mic nights. His voice sucks but his confidence is incredibly high. I like the fact that a good amount of hard core drug addicts go cold turkey after taking the plant mixture.

Interesting Stuff. This is why I love this forum..one stop shopping for just about any question.

Im not sure how I'd react to it....I've had some 'spiritual experiences' when I was younger and grateful that these occurred. A small glimpse that there is something more out there and the world is an illusion.

Recently my life has become mundane and I could use a 'shake up'

my concern is that the only drug aside from alcohol I've tried is weed. The few times Ive spoked it Ive been a mess: once with my cousin when i convinced he was going to kill me; with a girl when I became catatonic and scared the f out of her, etc etc.
haven't touched it for years. friends wouldn't even let me...

that said, don't know wtf would happen on this ayuwahsca ish..

The "rules" associated with most hallucinogens are scarier than the effects themselves. If you want a rule/advice with some truth behind it, drink flavoured milk or iced coffee before you take anything so your vomit comes up nice and easy. You'll thank me later.

That being said, however, there is one thing I do like to tell people - These are psychoactive drugs. People take them specifically because they alter their mental state for a temporary amount of time. I'm always dumbfounded when someone takes acid, or DMT, or some other potent hallucinogen, then suddenly decides to shave their head or some stupid shit like that. Then again, apparently I'm pretty weird in this respect...

I've done ayahuasca, yoppo, daga, salvia, morning glory seeds, San pedro cactus, you name it. Some good trips and some awful ones.

Ayahuasca is intense. There's a reason that shamans and medicine men exist. You need a guide for this shit, someone who knows how to brew it and how to guide you on your trip. I'd say all psychedelics are like this actually. For ayahuasca you need to take an MAO inhibitor, which comes in many forms, some plant derived others you can get from someone with a pharmaceutical hookup.

It's extremely emotionally intense, lots of revelations, and even if you have someone there guiding you, you definitely feel like you're being guided by another being somewhere "out there". There's a feeling of familiarity to it, that you're reconnecting to something that you remember from a long time ago but can't put your finger on it, it's very mental/spiritual. More so than acid IMO.

The standard psychedelic quote applies: "To he who has had the experience, no explanation is necessary. To he who has not, none is possible."

That's a realization that some people come to after a dozen or so trips. The drug just opens the door to what is possible. The real path of spirituality is in practice and prayer (meditation).

So while it's not strictly necessary, it does open the door for many, many people. Ram Dass explains this process quite well and I can relate to it. You take the drug because you get attached to the spiritual high, but eventually you come down. You always do, and eventually a sense of despair sets in. Psychedelics give you a taste of boundless spiritual energy, but you get taken away and the confines of our ego set in again and it's back to the 'ol 9 to 5.

Any psychedelic drug is dangerous depending on the circumstances. LSD is physically non-toxic, but people lose their shit. I knew one. After a 3 day trip he was found running down the highway 30 miles away without any clothes on. Others, like commercial morning glory seeds are extremely toxic because of the pesticide coating on them, but dumbshit kids looking for a cheap high grind em up, fill up gel capsules, and pop them anyway.

Well my boy did it once while eating meat and pork and threw up bad and the other time went vegeterian the whole week before and didn't have a bad detox affect the second time. I agre there are no rules but many people have had this observation so I have heard.

i agree with the dude. i was an extreme atheist before smoking DMT and drinking aya, after that i realized that atheism is a religion through detaching yourself from nature and those around you, hence why majority of internet addicts are atheists: they don't experience. i'd like to say DMT and aya helped me live my life to the fullest, since they do simulate the feeling of death and leaving the living reality we're in now, but no, it hasn't. i just believe in god, but i'm still pessimistic, which is my own beef that i need to work on without the assistance of drugs in any form.

I think as long as you have a sitter, you are ok. Nobody can really guide you at the end of the day, you have to run on your own steam, find your own way. I think a guide is often just a crutch, a way of abnegating responsibility.

And a lot of these guides/shamans, well, you are giving your power away to them, and they are quite often abusing that trust and power. If you find a good one, fantastic. But many of them are wolves in sheeps clothing.

And you can brew it yourself, you don't anyone else to do that for you.

That quote is really indicative of old school thinking about psychedelics. Alan Watts was largely only using LSD. The point is with the plant medicines is that they can really help you to realise and heal what is going on inside you. LSD and other synthetics are often much less useful when it comes to that to kind of healing work.

Psychedelics are interesting in that they most definitely alter your consciousness in the short term (obviously right after consuming the drug but also in the weeks following the experience). How radically it alters your personality in the long term? I'm not sure.

Everyone should try psychedelics once, regardless of whether they have any real spiritual or personality altering effect. Having your ego disappear while remaining conscious is an intense experience, comparable with a few college philosophy courses. LSD = existentialism 101.

My take. I've yet to meet anyone who has tried Ayahuasca. From what I gather from Joe Rogan Podcast and Erowid it seems like an intense drug. Having an intense experience that very few people can relate to? Be cautious. All those designer drugs online, ones which slightly alter chemical compounds so as to remain legal, scare me for that same reason; they are mind altering substances that few people have ever ingested. Better to have a relatable experience. (You may need someone to help you sift through what the lows and highs of the trip). A side note - Joe Rogan podcast is very entertaining but has little no to intellectual merit.

Obviously all of the above is just my opinion.

DMT is a naturally occurring molecule that the body naturally produces. One theory about alien abductions, medieval "fairy visions," and even caveman art from 10,000 years ago (see Graham Hancock) is that its a result of a sudden release of excess DMT by one's body.

What's been strange about my experiences is that I saw what I think a lot of other people see "naturally" to some extent, but that I didn't see before because perhaps I was proverbially blinded for whatever reason - so it's not like I'm unable to relate to people now (especially women), but that I can relate substantially more to healthy, positive-emotion-seeking individuals considerably more so than before.

The Ayahuasca experience has actually been quite well studied. See this book:
