It's a pretty major route.

There WAS a horrible massacre of civilians on a number of buses in a particular incident in Mexico in 2011:

However, it doesn't seem to be a major route. You might exercise caution to avoid routes that aren't MAJOR and/or tourist.

200 people died, about what happens when a plane crashes. The statistics on how many people die every day from ALL CAUSES are pretty staggering. Death DOES happen even when you take the best precautions. You might even say its inevitable....

When my day comes, at least I will have some good stories...

Those massacre were in buses known for carrying migrantes, the kind of buses that make stops in every possible town. Try to use buses that don't stop like that "no ranchean" or "directo". Turistar and ETN are your best option.

That's the common sense advice. I'm asking for more specific advice, like stay away from this area or this route or this part of the city at this time. Or in this area this type of robbery is common. If anybody has any advice like that it would be greatly appreciated.

I just read some chilling stories about journalists murdered, dismembered and hung from overpasses in Mexico by cartels. One of the locals I was hanging with in DF, she's from Monterrey, and was a journalist there but had to flee to relative safety of DF because her life was being threatened. When you actually meet people going through that shit it makes it real in a way it isn't just browsing a news article.

When people just nonchalantly buy marijuana and cocaine in the US they don't give a shit how their quick high is killing people and turning entire cities into warzones south of the border. If you are snorting blow, you are part of the problem and some of the blood is on your hands since you are the final link in the chain. These cartels wouldn't even exists if it weren't for the demand for drugs in America. It makes me sick.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one.

How not to get killed in Mexico:

- Dont be involved in drugs
- Dont be a cop
- Dont be journalist

Or more realistically:

- Dont ride mopeds drunk
- Dont drive around back roads at night, while drunk
- Dont swim in an unfamiliar beach, at night, while drunk

And how to keep your cash:

- Take registered taxis (sitios)
- At night walk on the main streets (or better yet take a registered taxi)

Certain areas of the country are heavily controlled by narcos, or battled over by narcos. Those areas tend to be the ones tourists aren't at anyhow, and generally at the edge of the country (border zones). Morelia is supposed to be run by narcos as is Mazatlan. It is true that in some areas you can't just walk backroads without being harassed and/or potentially killed. Just ask locals about different areas. But if you are in major cities it won't be an issue.

Like I said, if you are worried, just stick to the major bus routes. Those buses are high class like you wouldn't believe, with LCD tv's in each seat, and male and female bathrooms separate. Greyhouse finally upgraded some buses cuz Mexican companies givin them a run for their money...

I remember going to Reynosa during the day in '07. I took my boys down there to see what it was. So its five brothas walking around the markets. So we are doing our thing and this lady stops us and tell us, "do you know where you are? Dont go down that street." Like Narcos would really fuck woth us for no reason. I know we didnt go down that street though ha! True story.

In '12, me and a buddy drove from GDL to Puerto Vallarta. Its a five hour trip. So one of the towns we drove through was El Chapo town. Straight mob town. We didnt stop or need to but it was wild driving through a billionaire's city. The Feds know where the fuck he is at but they wouldnt touch him. He is playing his role. Violence is down compared to '08-'10. Why destablize the gains they have made.

Shit IMO is overblown. Street smarts is key. Ive been to a few Narco strip clubs. Just mind your own business, dont start shit, and know where the shitty parts of town are and you are good.

At least this thread was specifically asking if Mexico is safe. There are a few of us on RVF that could start telling Mexico stories. In fact, might not be a bad way of getting some fun intel out there that does not focus specifically on the hard logistics but rather the fun, beauty, and adventure the country has.

I am hard pressed to think of another country that offers so much adventure and variety in one place.

I'll be doing down there more in the future. Mexico is definitely underrated and the fact that everyone is scared to go down there means it won't be ruined like Rio and Medellin for some time to come. The only places Westerners go is places like Cancun where they are surrounded by other Westerners. The interior of Mexico is off the radar for most gringos, but that's where the hotties are. I can't wait to check out Monterrey and return to GDL and DF. Coming from L.A. it blows my mind to walk into a club and see stunners that aren't using their iphones, attention whoring and who are actually friendly when you open them.

Just arrived in Guadalajara. Got what the achievement THC calls "the golden touchdown" Getting laid within 24 hours of touching down. We need a new one for within 1 hour of touching down. Yeye. 100% spanish looking girl with green eyes, curly hair, and big boobs. Guadalajara is starting off very well. I have also seen plenty of hot girls in the 30 minutes I was outside of my hotel coming from the airport. Mexico may just be under rated. I will find out!

you're already falling in love with that city like I have since I was a kid. when you leave that place for good, you will be in tears like I was while boarding the plane.

I'll be doing down there more in the future. rest assured, Mexico won't get ruined like Colombia and Brasil because americans mostly hangout in cabo, playa del carmen, cancun, and mazatlan. they don't venture into GDL, monterrey, culiacan, and guanajuanto (last one mostly are retirees who go there). and thanks to the stupid american media, they keep away the betas and omegas with the hype of cartel violence.

add to that, to get tail in those places, you have to know good spanish and most americans can't even say a complete sentence in spanish.

god, you got to love the stupidity of americans once in a while. it brings in great benefits if you see how you can exploit them.

Well the safety factor is a serious issue. The buddy I recently visited in DF just got robbed at gunpoint last week steps from his apartment. Two dudes rode by on a motorcycle, rode up on the sidewalk, one of them hopped off with a gun and took everything he had. This guy said he lives in a safe neighborhood and was constantly raving about how he never feels in any danger there. Mexico is a place you can never really let your guard down.

Fair enough. This thread was about the danger. I was talking specifically about other Mexico threads.

There is a danger presence in Mexico but what I have been trying to say (along with others) is that there is little chance of the danger directly causing harm.

That sucks. A week after I left DF last time my friend and his girlfriend were kidnapped for 48 hours so they could tap their accounts twice. Its rare, it sucks, but it can happen.

The crime in Mexico makes good, juicy news. Every day the papers there are talking about "more headless bodies" or "mass grave of cartel members". North American mass media can not resist these headlines. They are like crack cocaine to news media.

I met her online. Taking the 30 minute taxi ride from the airport to town, then getting ready to go out, then taking a taxi to a club, gaming her for 5 minutes and getting her to bounce, and disarming all mmr with the 2 minutes remaining would indeed be impressive. But I met her online and had her meet me at the airport. So I just did some work on the taxi ride, got to my hotel and went straight to seduction and disarming lmr, but to be completely honest there wasn't much other than "this is dangerous" as I started taking her clothes off.

2 days in Guadalajara, 2 lays. This girl was working at my hotel. I first met her when I had the first girl on my bed in my hotel room, but I don't think she could see. I gamed her every time I saw her after that. Was able to bounce her to a bar last night after her shift. I guess it's "prohibido" for her to be with a guest, so I wasn't able to bounce her to my room. No worries. We went over to her room so i could show her my travel photos. Started out in the main room, and was able to get to her bed. She was a mexican girl with a small asian body. Probably a 90 lb girl. I had basically no LMR. Strangely enough, from the 2 girls in GDL I have been with I haven't gotten any. I have read on the forum that girls here are conservative but I haven't seen it yet. So far a pretty nice place.

I WAS IN San louis and mexicali...acouple weeks ago. I had an attempted set-up/robbery take place. But Averted it.
But before that... my friend was kidnapped and was found. WE had connection down there with locals, we just didnt use them like we should have.
