It has the highest murder rate in Brazil. I found out after I bought the tickets. The upscale part of the city is ok (a couple of miles of the beach and maybe a couple of blocks from that area). My friend and I walked there at night and didn't have any problems. The favelas are fucked - the pic says it all.
   

Lots of beautiful girls there (that is, in the good part of town, not in that shithole), but my friend and I didnt' know which clubs to go to, just went to a few random places. My friend had a bad cold, and he is not really a player type even compared to me... and I don't speak any Portuguese. As a result, I didn't approach anybody, didn't even react to IOIs. Kind of regret it now.

Kiruna, Sweden.

Me and my family were gonna sleep over there for one night after a long drive through Sweden. After 1 hour there we renegotiated to get a refund for the hotel and continued to another shithole in Norway called Narvik. Happy days!

I did some charity work back in 2009 in a place called Bunia which is in the eastern congo (the bigger congo), not far from the border to Uganda. When I was there it was a shithole. It was hard to imagine how someone could plan a life in the place.

Paved roads? They don't/didn't have them yet. Forget about finding a cold drink either. Fans is the luxury, on occasion there was some internet. Last time I got excited my email was working. Needless to say it's very hot there, and it's a different kind of heat, not the "it's a hot day in the summer in the northern hemisphere, I better get myself inside", you wake up in the morning and feel totally blah and while you're shaving at 630 am after your shower you notice there's liquid running down your calves and it's not shower water, and it seems like even lifeless objects sweat, such as apples, everything's just kind of perspiring, shoes as well. If you're not dripping it'll conveniently rain for 3 or 4 minutes to turn whatever dust you're walking in into mud.

Africa... civil war one day, buzzing economy a few months later, rinse and repeat.

There was an airport however. I'd be curious to see how the place has changed within a couple of years, sometimes places just transform from one year to the other.

Oh yeah, just going to add most unreal experience: witnessing two sisters being told one of them is HIV+, then other not, and they just kind of broke out into embarrassed chuckles, each saying they thought the results would be reversed. Did I try and get with some of the locals you ask? Nah.

For me the worst of the worst have been Karachi Pakistan, if there is a hell in earth, this is it. Horrible place, there is not a single place I can say, this is nice.

Basically no women (just black blocks walking), way too much people, extremelly polluted, no infrastructure at all, mountains of garbage in every corner, nothing to do, no alcohol and to make things worst, full of stubborn pakistanies...

Been twice, absolute shit hole.

Peshawar was pretty cool though. I went to apply for an Afghan visa at the Taliban run embassy there ( 1997 ) and the Taliban ambassador spent an hour discussing my travels and trying to convert me to Islam. He gave me his personal Koran as a departing gift. Nice guy. I often wonder what appended to him when the war on terror started.

Pakistan is probably the most fucked up country I have been to though. The tribal areas were insane: shops selling piles of heroin and marijuana openly. The law of Pakistan only applies on the asphalt. Once you take a step off the road you are in a lawless place where you are at the mercy of the locals. Fucked up.

In the States I'm going with Newburgh NY. It had the most stereotypical, straight out of a movie ghetto I've ever seen. Outside the states is for sure Afghanistan. A typical rural home looks like the manger scene from the bible. You are truly fucked if you live there.
