Hungary: Part of the West or EE?
For those who have been to Hungary or live there, how would you rate it in terms of quality of women, etc. Are they more Westernized than those in Poland, Ukraine, etc? It seems that Hungary has always been closer to the West, even pre-1989, so that's why I'm wondering...

RE: Hungary: Part of the West or EE?
There are posts on here about Hungarian women and Budapest, why not read them and form your own opinion.

Better yet, why not take a trip there and then you can tell us your thoughts.

I have been to the Country.

Culturally its a middle ground between east and west, which is why Hungarians often proudly insist on a "central" European identity. Unfortunately with the poor economy and terrible government it's not helping Hungary to integrate with its prosperous western neighbours.

As far as the women go, my experience is a decade out of date so I'll leave that for others to comment on.

You mean the women are scammers? What kind of scams exist there?

There was a horrible scam attempt where a nasty gypsy lady followed me around offering a blow job making the indicated hand to mouth gesture. While she followed me around, she had some other male partner run circles around me trying to pick pocket. Really bizarre..I just kept my hands in my pocket and got away unscathed.

I've heard there are instances where going into a strip club will cost you big time even with no drinks or dances. There was a story from my hostel in Bratislava about strip clubs in Budapest. One instance where a group of 2 guys and a girl entered a club for kicks with no intent to spend more than 15 minutes or any $$ in there. Once leaving, they were forced to pay a huge tab.

I'm sure you will find more stories in the insurmountable amount of data given in other threads too.

You'll find such clip joints all over the world. Commonly run by Russians.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Hungarian girls have some interesting features. many have remarkable eyes. Some hungarians look very german, others very slavic, others have slight turkish/oriental influence in their faces.

I didn't really see as many hotties walking around as in further east countries.

RE: Hungary: Part of the West or EE?
My personal impressions from a October 2009 visit are:

-Older Hungarians can be very generous and gracious people.
-Lot of older single dudes here. I know some older divorced Hungarian dudes in the US who remarried American women bc the chicks back home have serious issues.
-According to something I watched on Fashion TV before departing on my trip, Budapest was once a big recruitment hot spot for young aspiring models.
-Women in general I encountered were pretty fashionable during my stay. Also very snobby and pretentious new money.
-I think that goes for younger Hungarians in general. While the older ones are cool, even the crowd not fascinated with money tended to be quite insular. I didn't really make any serious friends during my stay.
-I also had my own apt for a great deal in the center of the city for a good price. Didn't get to take advantage of that though...I tried..5 nights..pushed hard..nada.
-They are apparently really talented in bed according to the lucky ones on this forum. I wouldn't know anything about that.
-Poland and Hungary apparently have a strong political relationship. One country has cool hot females (Poland). The other has an abundance of single dudes because of the major bitches back home (Hungary). I have a Polish friend who is now dating a Hungarian dude...since he's the younger type, he's probably an insular prick who can go eff himself.
-I know maybe Turkish or darker toned western Asians who go into Budapest have faced blatant racist incidents with locals. I didn't have any issues as an Eastern Asian dude as the older drunk locals loved giving me high fives.
-Budapest as a city isn't really all that expensive. But there's also many trendy establishments via restaurants or night clubs that will charge 9 USD per drink or have outrageous prices on the menu.
-With regards to scams, I think I read somewhere local chicks will ask a foreigner to buy a drink while ordering an entire bottle clandestinely. This thing happens in many other places too like Beirut, Lebanon apparently but Budapest women are infamous for this.
-Lot of Hungarian chicks I saw at clubs or bars would stand in a corner while not dancing. Instead, they would stand around staring condescendingly at others. This is the opposite of Polish chicks.
-My best shot at a Hungarian notch was this one university chick with braces. Yeah I had to resort to that. We danced...clicked..she then decided to go home with her friends. I then blew her off...she got offended.
-Lot of high end places in Budapest will be a big time old man sausage fest. I remember talking to these chicks from Finland who were pretty cool. Shifted right so I could get the bartender's attention...1 minute later..old Hungarian dudes were all over them...scared them off.
-The cost per notch in Budapest is a little too high for my liking...bringing me to my next point.
-Younger locals appear to have too much pride and take themselves too seriously. It's similar to the Catalan crowd in Barcelona. I really don't know which one is worse.
-I probably would've had a better time staying in a hostel back in 2009 as there would have been more cool shit to do with other travelers. If you're looking for a CS event, etc to kill boredom..it doesn't really happen too frequently in Budapest.

I've only glanced over some Budapest posts real quickly on this forum, but my info was just based on a visit from some years ago. Might be on par with others have written...might not.
