I think you just hit on what I was speaking of several posts above. I asked if we could coin a phrase that slaps back "slut-shaming." What you just said hones in on it. Here is my phrase: Accusing men of slut-shaming is really man-shaming because it says men's preferences don't matter, but everyone else's do.

Feel free to tweak that or make it even more sound-bitish. For now, that's what I'm going to use on Facebook when people start in with those stupid memes. We'll see how the hamsters react.

Her anger and bitterness are completely transparent in everything she writes. It's blindingly obvious that Lindy West has a severe case of penis envy. It's really that simple. She's just really, really mad that she was born a woman, and even more unfortunately, an ugly woman.

Jessica Valenti already trod all over this "purity myth" bullshit years ago; in fact, she even wrote a book about it. All Lindy West has done is dollop Valenti's stupid, easily falsifiable thesis in globs of her godawful prose. I mean, just look at this:

I'm more concerned with her intellectual vapidity than her poor prose.

1). So "slut-shaming is bad, but when men have preferences for younger, less jaded women, they're to be shamed. Shaming for thee, but not for me, in other words.

2). Studies have shown women with fewer partners are less likely to divorce. So science backs up why men have these supposedly unfair ideals. It's advantageous to them and their future kids. Here's a blog post that speaks of such a study:

3). She doesn't realize that her analogy is meaningless because she's comparing apples to oranges when she compares the preferences of men and women. Women don't scout younger men, for the most part. What they do each scout is a particular "type." And if you've ever gone through online dating personals and seen the way they attempt to micro-define the guys they'll date, that is creepy.

Actual examples: "Vanilla seeking chocolate: let's swirl." "Preference for law enforcement types." "Only attracted to tall, skinny boys."

Attempting to pick men out like dolls is creepy, but West is too obtuse to see that women's creepiness would be something different than men's.
