Apologies. But you didn't notice anything fishy about Bolton from the previous episodes? And wasn't he the one who captured Theon at Winterfell in season 2. So you knew he was up to no good.

What I don't get is why they have this Theon storyline. Nobody enjoys watching him get tortured (unless you're into that stuff), and I don't think what he's done merits that much punishment. Agree. its the only subplot I don't enjoy. It might have been OK for one scene but they've had this pointless torture for weeks now. I feel like I'M the one being tortured, having to watch this pointless drivel! The rest of the show, I really like.

In the books Theon disappears sometime after he sacks Winterfell and does the deed to the orphan boys. Then he reappears in book 5 as the destroyed husk that Ramsay turns him into. At first you don't even know this character is Theon and when it is revealed it is horrifying.

Realistically the show can't just put the actor who plays Theon on hold until Season 6-7, so they have to show how his character goes from being who we know him as to what he will become.

While the torture does seem unnecessary it's actually quite fitting. Ramsay was telling the truth that he's only doing it because he enjoys it. There's really no other reason. No one knows where Theon is or what happened to him. The complete meaninglessness and horror of his fate is somewhat reflected in the seeming pointlessness of those scenes. Ramsay's simply a complete psychopath, and it sets him up later for his own part to play in the story, so you know just who he is.

I talked to a few girls who are fans of the show, and almost none of them feel any sympathy for Theon. I asked all of them why, but none of them could really articulate a reason. Perhaps women despise Theon because he is so beta in how much he craves people's validation of him as important or noble or respected.

Tywin is boss, Joffrey is such a rat, Tywin just puts him down like a little dog even though he's King, Joffrey needs to remember Tywin was the hand of the king before.

Daenarys really is fucking up by fighting these cities in slaver bay, just wasting fucking time, typical female who can't see the proper light. Fuck the slaves, get feeding your dragons and get your ass over the Narrow Sea. She'd be better off plundering the cities on the west coast of Essos.

True, but Shae is nothing like she is in the book. Her denying Tyrion's gold and just wanting to be with him? As far from her book character as it could be.

While I'd not like to add to the anti-feminist vibe on here, the show really seems to remove as much of the "female evil" in the books as possible and make the women on the show more likable and appealing to the audience. Now the Kingsguard attempt on Tyrion's life is not on Cersei's hand but Joffrey's, a convenient dumpster for all evil so that all the females watching can still relate to strong Cersei who now has a drop of compassion in her. Not to mention how the TV writers similarly changed the baby-killer of Robert's bastard by the prostitute to be Joffrey instead of Cersei, who in the show just seems trapped in the position of having a really evil son.

Eg. Catelyn having prayed for Jon Snow to get better instead of all-out hatred

And now if Melissandre keeps being so nice to Gendry...

If a reader of the books is asked to name the some really wretched female characters, a few immediately pop to mind. But ask that same question to someone who's only watched the show and they would draw blanks. Of course, cause all the really horrible deeds have been transferred to the male characters' hands.

Not to mention how they split the book in the current season and now we have to spend a 1/3 of an episode watching filler gooey eyed drama instead of action. The show has become so popular that they have to have material that appeals to housewives I suppose.

That scene with King Joffrey and his Grandfather was hilarious. His Grandfather was mocking his Grandson, reminding him that he may currently be King but please watch your tongue towards the people who are actually working to defend you. You ungrateful, spoilt, little boy. Otherwise I may have to throw you off that chair and spank your forgetful Arse, so continue to act how you want with everybody else as you are King but don't you dare get carried away with your family elders.

Very true, a few of the girls in my very emasculating office were laughing about him getting his genitals cut off. They like Tyrion though, despite him being a dwarf. Height Trolls beware, it's all about alpha. Ha.

I'm not sure if it's me or the show, but I've given up on watching it. The same subplots just keep dragging on and the characters all seem the same.

Seems more of a feminist subtext too, and I'm tired of the cute blond who every man underestimates before she wipes them out; of course it's justified because they're white male sexists and slave-owners.
