Well it depends how you look at it. I smoke weed and I drink. Thing is, I can't drink every day personally. I just don't like waking up the next morning and feeling like shit. When I smoke the night before, I wake up in the morning feeling the same as I would had I not smoked. I can only handle drinking once or twice a week. I can also operate a vehicle perfectly fine when I smoke weed. Millions of people die each year in the US alone from alcohol related deaths. You know how many people die from smoking weed? 0. I see where you're coming from, when I go out and have some drinks with friends, my nights tend to end up funner than when I go out after smoking a couple joints. But like I said, I can't do that every night. And people who do drink every night have problems. It is MUCH more healthy to smoke weed every day than drink every day. Alcohol causes more deaths than any other drug in the US. Trust me, my stoner friends are WAY better off than the few alcoholics I do know.

Yup. Funny how weed is illegal.

With privatized prisons, it's easy to see why it's illegal.

They are 2 different social tools as well..

Alcohol makes you more social and outgoing.

Weed makes you laid back, and calm.

Yep. Another point. I'm a snowboarder, and I do some pretty gnarly shit. When I first started riding and I didn't really go that big, I would drink sometimes. Now, there's no chance in hell I would drink, sending 65 foot jumps, that shit's crazy. I will definitely blaze a joint going up the lift though. And on a powder day, that shit makes me focus. I crank up my music, smoke a j, and pick out my line and murder the mountain.

I think that's only an unpopular opinion in the US and Israel. And I think it's becoming even more popular in the US. Israel is really fucking up. Did you see what they did in Damascus yesterday?

A few years ago when I was attending trackdays with a couple other WRX drivers, the two other stoners in our group and I would chill behind the pits and burn one down and discuss the track before going back out for the next session.

Some would be surprised that we'd post up faster times and have better runs after smoking.

I never feel the effects of alcohol the next morning. Unless I have gotten so drunk that I have passed out. Which is something I no longer do.

Do - people feel the effects of 4-5 drinks the next day? Even if they were not drunk? I only drink bourbon and have a very high tolerance. I can drink a bottle and still be pretty sober. Other drinks go straight to my head - but not bourbon.

So - I have forgotten how others react to alcohol.

To add gas (petrol) to the fire of the football (soccer) v football (handegg) debate:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/american-football/22290474

2 players were drafted into the NFL last month who have never played a competitive game of football in their lives. This shows that pure athletic ability far outweighs skill, experience, or even understanding the game. Some NFL players are freak athletes, but dumb as shit.

You could never take a gifted athlete that has never played soccer and start him on an EPL team.

Ice Hockey is the sport that requires the most learned skill, while not requiring the same fitness as either of the others mentioned. Dustin Byfuglien plays for the Winnipeg Jets. He's easily 30 lbs overweight, but his skill makes him good.

What do you mean "haven't played a competitive game in their lives"? Watson was taken by the Oakland Raiders out of Florida State(a very good football program), and there's a good chance he won't start this year. He is a physical freak, and is considered to be very raw. The offensive and defensive lines can sometimes forgive a lack of great skill in exchange for being a gifted athlete.

If you think someone like Messi(who is an awesome athlete) could come in dominate in the NFL, then you're delusional. Hand him the ball, and 10 seconds later he'd be carted off the field with his eyes rolled back and blowing snot bubbles.

Football also causes more injuries per player than any other sport:

Quote:You knew this would be #1 before we even started. But you probably didn’t know just how much more dangerous football is than other sports. Sure, it was second in total injuries to basketball with 2,490,000. But there are so many fewer people playing football, which means the rate of injury is astronomically higher: 4.85%.

That’s right, football players are more than twice as likely to sustain injuries as a player in the next most dangerous sport. And despite all the hullabaloo in hockey about “head shots” this year, football is king of head injuries with 274,455. It’s also tops in shoulder (144,896), lower arm (88,266), lower trunk (98,565), and lower leg (88.234) injuries.

So play football at your own risk, folks. I’m going to stick to soccer. It’s not even on the list.

http://www.totalprosports.com/2012/06/08...sports/#12

In three years of playing football, I had twice the amount of injuries than I did in seven plus years of boxing.

Football is dangerous because of all the fucking shit you have to wear as gear.

Look at Rugby vs. Football, Rugby doesn't give you shit to wear but football is much more dangerous.

Here's another one of my unpopular opinions

Canadian Football (CFL) is much more fast paced and entertaining than American football (NFL) in terms of watching. The NFL is too boring to watch on television (live is different, live is fun). It doesn't help that on TV the NFL is super commercialized.

Some more opinions:

I find most sports super ass boring to watch on tv, at least when you are watching it live you have a nice atmosphere.

Playing sports is 9000000X better than sitting at home watching it.

I find the super dedication some people have to their team an extension of useless tribalism. Especially when they hate any other team other than theirs.

I was not referring to Watson. I was referring to Tom Wort and Lawrence Okoye. Okoye has not played a game of football. I thought Wort also had never played, but with more research I learned that he played for the Sooners.

That slight mistake aside, my point is still valid. It is fully possible to take a freak of nature that's never seen a football and have him play in the NFL within a few years. It is not possible to take a freak of nature and have him play in the EPL in a few years.

No where did I say Messi could play in the NFL.

Please, all the hacks that can't make it into the NFL go to the CFL. The talent is way better in the NFL. You guys get all the second class players that don't make the cut for the NFL.

Okoye went undrafted and was signed by the 49ers as someone who will not make the roster. If he shows a ton of potential he might get a spot on the practice squad, and maybe after a couple of years could develop in to a decent player. Look at Brock Lesnar, easily one of the most physically gifted athletes in sports. He couldn't even make the Vikings roster as a back up defensive lineman, and NFL teams have 53 man rosters.

The Messi comment wasn't aimed directly at you, but to those who think that an athlete can come in and compete at a high level in another sport despite having never competed in it.

He is right that the CFL is a much faster paced game, but you're also right that any CFL player would happily jump ship to the NFL whether it's for money or prestige.

Yes because that is where all the money and attention is. Who would be stupid to chose to play in CFL instead of the NFL.

My original comment was the fact that the CFL is faster paced and more entertaining to watch on tv, when you watch NFL on tv more than 50% of it is
A) Ads
B) "Analysts" talking
For the time investment there is very little action involved.

Now watching the game live in a stadium atmosphere is amazing, and blows watching the CFL live out of the water.

I've been to two Seahawks game, and if there is a game on whenever I'm in Seattle I make sure to attend.

You failed to properly read that I never said the CFL was better than the NFL, only that I find the CFL more entertaining to watch on TV due to its nature being faster pace, I never mentioned the quality of the players yet you still chose to jump to conclusions and start an argument in a thread called "Unpopular opinions", which mine surely is. Anyways IP you're the first whos going on my ignore list for being one of the on the forum. Shame because a lot of your game posts (except for that whole jailbait moral high ground you took) and data on cities is top notch and, like the CFL, entertaining.

This article highlights the problems I have with watching NFL games on TV.

As a Brit on the forum, and after discussing sports with you Americans, I'm going to make sure I watch some Basketball etc as I feel I'm missing out on some excellent entertainment and athletic prowess.

Oh, another unpopular opinion: I get irritated when I see celebrities from the South of England harping on about how much they love Man Utd when they have no connection to the city. Foreigners its alright, as it's to be expected...but Olly Murs...facepalm.

Born in Liverpool, lived there for 3 years then moved down south when my parents split up but yeah, effectively I'm more southern than northern. Big Grin

Still, the point remains. Cockney Liverpool or United fans makes absolutely no sense to me. If you're in the midlands or from some other place in the country without a "massive" team nearby, then I can kind of see the point, but when your family is all from London, you're from London, and you live near big clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and the plethora of other London clubs, why the fuck would you choose a team in the north west?
