International Swagger in Monterrey, Mexico
I’ve been hitting up Monterrey heavily since last November 2011 (I fly down about twice per month for 3-4 days at a time). Met a stunner from there who works for a Television Station in Playa Del Carmen during the Mi Casa House Music Festival in early October and she’s been getting me hooked on the place. I haven’t been going out gaming since I have been rolling with her but I have been able to scope out some spots that you fellas may find interesting If you are ever in town. Monterrey is widely known as the city in Mexico with the best looking women and It doesn’t disappoint in that regard. Most of the top soap opera stars, actors and on air personalities in the country come from here. Even though the city has earned a reputation for crime and danger in the last 5-7 years It’s still a good city to visit If you have connections already on the ground or making your way through Mexico.

Let me address the #1 concern for people worried about danger in Monterrey...Firstly I’ve been shown nothing but love from everyone there and have no hint of danger everywhere I’ve been. I’ve kicked it in Centro, Barrio Antigo and the more well off parts of town in San Jeronimo and San Pedro and near Plata Fiesta/San Augustin. No problems whatsoever. The city is really beautiful, set in a picturesque valley with mountains surrounding it at night it’s simply stunning.

I think the best places to stay are in and around San Pedro & San Augustin areas but San Jeronimo & Downtown Monterrey/Centro aren’t bad either. I’ve stayed in all those areas on my 8 visits there. San Pedro and San Augustin will definitely have more talent since it’s the richer side of town. Monterrey isn’t a walking city in the high end areas so you won’t find many girls on the streets in the nice areas unfortunately which I miss about being in heavy walking cities I normally frequent and love (Rio De Janeiro/Barcelona/Paris).

The best place to stay IMO is Hotel Habita in San Pedro for the high end cats in the forum, beautiful views from rooftop pool & bar and extremely modern with a dope restaurant and right next to the most happening restaurants and clubs in-town all in one development with some top notch restaurants and bars in the same development that I will point out. This hotel will cost you but a high level player with the $$$ would undoubtedly want to stay here.

To start the night off you want to hit up Amalia which is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. My girl treated me to a night here on my birthday that I will never forget. The ambience and the vibe put this place over the top. It was a restaurant but had a bar area set in a garden and tons of stunners milling about with cool lounge music playing. This place is reservations only so dress to impress, I thought I was somewhere in West Hollywood, Soho or South Beach it was that impressive.

After that you could check Kitchoan which is a dope lounge with a DJ set up playing some good music and is located adjacent to Amalia and Hotel Habita, again sick talent in this place too, anyone in Mexico for the first time won’t believe their eyes. Eve Mendes and Penelope Cruz in their prime level chicks all around this place.

After that If you pull something nice you could either slide to the Rooftop Bar at The Hotel Habita which has a pool and I hear SICK pool parties with a view in the summer which I will definitely be checking out or take it to Centrito Valley which I really haven’t had the chance to explore yet but has a multitude of bars and clubs and cute chicks. The Hotel Habita area was definitely more mature & monied.

I normally stay at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel which will will put you walking distance or a less than $5 cab ride to Plaza Fiesta San Augustin which has three MONEY bars/clubs/restaurants you can hit up with good talent....

The names of said bars are Canto Piano Bar, Munster and Vinoteca.

All solid spots with excellent talent. I was with my girl but that didn’t stop from girls eyeing me constantly and approaching when I hit the bathroom. Some really nice lookers in there, had me thinking how it would be If I was with one of my wingmen there.

Vinoteca is more chill restaurant vibe on the patio where you can approach in a more relaxed atmosphere and Munster plays the Music Videos with Music that seems to be popular in Mexico with the top club songs of today mixed in with good Mexican Pop in a Irish Pub type setting and people are dancing. One of the few places in Monterrey where I didn’t see the friends all grouped together and not socializing with anyone.

Canto Piano Bar played more rock music and had nice eye candy as well. You can hop around all these places since they are in the same development.

Munster is a really good spot as well. I was recently there for the USA vs Mexico match in a USA outfit cheering the home team on during the recent 0-0 draw and it was dimes in the spot. Noticed many tables full of girls and some with a mix of guys and after the game music was played and a live band so definitely a good place to pull a fly MTY girl.

I have been to a few other places in San Jeronimo where the Casino was bombed out a few years ago but that place was wack IMO. I will get the name of it I would avoid it unless you are with a girl. I just don’t like places where they set you up at a table and everyone is grouped together and no dance floor. These type of places seem to be popular in Mexico.

The closing time in most clubs seems to be 2am-3am in the newer developments but there are some other spots that close later in Centrito Valley and other areas but the upscale places definitely close shop. I had no need to be out that long since I was already rolling with a fine MTY girl already.

After All the Girl Chasing their is plenty of cool recreational and cultural things to do in Monterrey where you can easily meet girls in that manner that I would highly recommend. I’m a big fan of “cultural macking” meeting girls at museums and active pursuit activities is very underrated. With that said...

Museum of Modern Art in Monterrey
Hiking in The National Park surrounding the city
Mountain Caves
Historic Old Mexican Town
Lakes in The Summer
Barrio Antiguo
Cola De Caballo Adventure Park
Downtown Monterrey with it’s multitude of museums.
Azul Blue Spa- Excellent Spa located in Obispado great prices, services & very relaxing
Mercado Juarez - Biggest Market Area in Monterrey, awesome place with great restaurants and markets with everything you can imagine. No need for a grocery store when you have this area at your fingertips.

Definitely give Monterrey a shot...The girls all seem friendly to foreigners who visit during this time and If you want to meet them on vacation hit up Playa Del Carmen to scoop one like I did! They all seems to go there on vacation similar migration like Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City to Acapulco. Any questions just get at me, I will be in MTY at least twice per month so will continue to have the dial on this spot. Shot out to RVF member GERMANICO for meeting up with me on one of my initial visits an giving me some game on the spot as well. Good dude spending his time between MTY and DF these days so look him up if you touch down. I'm headed down again this weekend so any questions just holla at me. Saude!

solid information man. and speaking fluent spanish makes everything just gravy for you. i'm not into spanish chicks the way i used to be as a teenager anymore, i have a ukraine/russian-slavic fetish at the moment. but i like the fact that you have scouted the place out real well and layed out the blue print for us brothers to follow.

i mean we have to put in the effort if we want results.

but i admire that you have some solid game man. i mean you really got this shit down pat. Do these girls you smash with ever get emotionally attached to you? or do they get it that you just stopping thru and will leave?

i mean clearly you're not there for a LTR but you got you game plan down real well. how do these ladies respond to ONS type guys like you with some game. i mean clearly your a good guy, but is it clear to them that you just stopping thru?

RE: International Swagger in Monterrey, Mexico
As usual, great trip report IS. What was the weather like in the city during your trip and did the city have much pollution? After spending so much time in SE Asian cities, those two factors are going to become more important when I select future travel destinations and Mexico is definitely on the short list.

Also, for a guy not running high end game, do you think the larger Mexican cities such as Monterrey could be done on a budget of about $100 USD/day?

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

RE: International Swagger in Monterrey, Mexico
Solid datasheet. I've told two or three members about Monterrey and always refer them to Bars, G, and you. You been gone for a minute ISwagger. You dont have time for us or what? I was there in '07 before it got real bad with the cartels and that casino bombing/fire. I'm glad things are looking up.

Two questions: How do Monterrey girls compared to DF girls? I know you fuck with the fresas/hiso girls so you have access to top talent but still how do you compare the two. Next question is the asses. I have been vouching for the Monterrey and GDL asses. Some of the best in the world. Not on Brasil/DR level, a step down from Black Americans but way better than White girls. What is you opinion on Monterrey asses?

I live in the valley so I deal with fresas all the time. Knocked down a few but that was because they were attracted to anything black and hiphop. Do you have a different strategy for fresas or you just dress to impress, good salsa, good spanish, and dhv with your international travel? I know you have a girl but how hard is it to SNL and cold approach? Or is social circle king with our conservative Mexicanas?

Sorry for all the questions. Alot of players have been curious and want to make that trip.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

IS-

Great breakdown. How is the door at the spots you mentioned above? Drink prices? Are all of these nightlife areas within a cab ride of each other? Thanks.

Just wanted to throw in a bit of intel for the brothas. Hanging out with this cute girl from Monterrey at the moment. Without me even bringing up race or anything, she mentioned that many women there are very curious about black guys. She was even telling me about her cousin and that she is crazy about us, but that none really exist down there. We were at a bar watching an NBA game and she was like, "any of those guys could come down to Monterrey if they wanted wives".

None of this is my personal experience, I haven't been there yet, but this was coming straight from a cute girl Monterrey girl that lives there and she mentioned this randomly without me even bringing the topic up. So could be a great spot for brothas to hit up. Just look out for the cartel violence.

Nice!!! +1. I've got the looks but when you have girls that just want the chocolate it makes life that much more easier. Monterrey seems to be one of the few last remaining places that specifically cater to us brothas it seems like. If any cartel mothafucka lays a finger on me he gon learn. No just kidding but cartel violence won't stop me from milking out one of the last remaining places that love us brothas.

Being born and raised in Monterrey, I can vouch for everything IntlSwagger said.

Solid info man.

And what thar girl told Speakeasy is also true. Just drop by and youll be getting attention from the ladies.

Ozzy, unless you are trading guns or drugs, you have nothing to worry about "cartel violence" whatever that is. It used to be the safest city in latinamerica, people even used to sleep with their doors unlocked, so the sudden spread of gang violence came as a shock. But you can be sure that you would be in more danger in the seedy barrios of monterrey that you would be in certain neighbourhoods of detroit or new york.

How about the drive to Monterrey? I live in Corpus which may be about 6 hours away. I have driven in '07 with no problems. We had a nice little car.

I have an '01 Dodge Ram. POS but its still a truck.

My Dad drove to Belize in December with no problems. We normally drive straight through but Veracruz is a little crazy now so he stopped at night. First trip he has ever stopped since we moved to Texas in '03.

RE: International Swagger in Monterrey, Mexico
Oops, I meant "wouldnt be in more danger"...

Trucks are common in Monterrey. The stereotype of the norteño dude is that he wears boots, owns a truck, drinks Carta Blanca, and listens to corridos.

Even with Texas plates, you wouldnt stand out. But watch out for transit cops, they have a reputation of targeting cars with out of state plates to give them a little shakedown. Even if you have all your documents in order, theyll find something to bother you with, just carry a $20 dollar bill along with the papers and tell them thats all you got. They will pressure for more but desist after a while.

Avoid driving through Veracruz if you can. The roads are fucked and unpatrolled. If you are going south, try driving through San Luis - Queretaro, and then go over Mexico City through the Arco Norte highway. More distance, but better roads = less time.

Just wanted to echo that from a travel perspective Mexico is quite safe. The press exaggerates the narco-trafficking violence for those not involved in the business.

I ride my motorcycle down there regularly and have had no incidents on the border or points south. In fact being on a motorcycle I have found the riding to be safer than here in the US.

What cities do you ride to/thru? Drop a datasheet. I hope you hit Tampico and Veracruz.

I ride just about anywhere I get the urge. Veracruz is on my list for Mardi Gras (Carnival), but not sure if I want to suffer through the crowds. Nevertheless I hear it is one of the best Mardi Gras in the world, though largely unknown in the US. Carnival is not associated with Mexico in the US, so most Gringos won't know about the Veracruz or Mazatlan carnivals.

I'm not sure I'm fully with the 'datasheet' concept, unless that just means describing a successful encounter in a particular town. The venue has never mattered to me, so I can't rate one place as better than the other, i.e., NYC better than D.C. I read a month or so ago at Return of Kings that D.C. is a hard town to get laid in, but that has never been my experience. There, like in most cities, I have found that solo traveling businesswomen, who are married, are the easiest successful encounters. And they don't come looking for you later.
