I'd argue that bang outlines a pickup structure that is very much like Mystery Method, but it isn't written so formulaically.

Heartiste did a post about the difference between "masculine" and "feminine" game, and how the guys from the "The Game" were intentionally emulating the mannerisms of females. They were trying to flip the script with their attitudes and dress so that they'd be the seen as the center of attention in a room (hence peacocking). The also employed a kind of girly/playful banter with their targets.

The masculine version of game is what is mostly preached here. It's having the stereotypical John Wayne manly/alpha vibe that goes against the feminine energy instead of co-opting it. This seems to be what's in style around the game blogs now.

I am because it is clear that Mystery was trying to look like a rockstar. Neil Strauss said that when they'd go out, Mystery was peacocking so much and was wearing lifts that made him like 7' tall, and girls were opening him up instead of the other way around.

1. The game sold over 300K copies at $28 a pop royalties in near 10-15%. That corp is set up as a tax shelter so max tax on that is 10%. Run that number that's only hard copies already at mil
2. TV show failure at two sets is another 1-200K
3. If you run eCopies of books we can at least assume half of e copies relative to hard copies were sold (this is an incredibly low estimate) that's another 2-300K
4. Look at all the blogs back circa 2005 all of those ads + click through (they were running a scam back then because if you clicked on it it flipped you to a sales page, however if you were google monitoring it the ads would flip to the real link, those being in $1 a click easy (god knows how many clicks he got from 2005-2010, undoubtedly a scary number
5. Layer in his own book on mystery method couldn't track down sales number lets assume it blew and only sold 10K copies with all his fame attached (that's straight profit as well, aforementioned tax shelter)

As described in the "Why do you think Paul Janka was so successful?" thread, both Janka and Mystery got massive numbers. Janka met women at his apartment and escalated immediately. But Mystery had a "seven to ten hour" rule with no guidance for SNL's. To his credit, Mystery wrote about "freeze outs" to overcome last minute resistance. But I never read about Mystery ending dates early, kicking women out of his apartment, or postponing a sure-thing in favor of more convenient inventory. Mystery was strong on opening, but weak on closing.

This matters because Mystery bolsters his advice by boasting of success. Mystery's outlandish attire might have actually worked for him in L.A. clubs. Or maybe he could have done better by working out and dressing normal. Who knows? More importantly, this stuff won't necessarily work for his students in other environments. Some students could even get discouraged because they suspect Mystery got 56 women per year. Instead, Mystery got 9 per year. Considering that he went out 3-4 nights per week, that is comparable to Roosh's recommendation of going out 2 nights per week and getting 3-8 per year.
