Went in a trendy suit & tie to a big office high-rise for some meetings.

The response was overwhelming. Eye-raped by 1 out 3 girls. I think I must have had 5-6 women staring me down like a Gucci handbag on sale in the cafeteria alone.

Completely off the tourist radar. Filled with professional women, many of whom probably do not go the trashy bars/clubs that get filled with tourist guys on weekends.

And an entirely difference response from when I last went to an office building wearing street clothes.

In fact, it almost made me want to get a formal "overseas office" of some kind, just to revel in this atmosphere.

For the business entrepreneurs out there, I highly recommend looking into an overseas "office" in a big high-rise building filled with local white collars workers.

Weekly networking mixers in your office, with invites to everyone in the building, would yield some spectacular benefits in my opinion....assuming you are in a Central/Eastern European/Baltic country that is.

I think that this is the way we are going to have to distinguish ourselves from all the mongers out there. I'm noticing that foreigners are just viewed as "johns" which is making it difficult to hustle local girls.

Cue the haters, but I have never actually met a hater that has actually spent the time, resources, actually OWNS and has worn a Custom Made Suit.

Yep. I get my suits custom tailored when I swoop through Kuwait. The selection of English fabrics, cashmeres, and wools are impeccable. The quality of stitching is great, although sometimes I need to have it re-tailored by my guy here in the states. As an added touch I have a tie cut from the same fabric as the suit. It makes it obvious the suit didn't come from the shelf. Nothing feels better than wearing them. Also,having them is an incentive to not gain weight so they still fit correctly.

Assuming you buy off the rack, one thing I totally recommend is getting the fitted European cutting (my preference is Italian or French) versus the traditional, baggy US-style suits. The baggy US suits are really unfashionable in my opinion.

The other item I HIGHLY recommend is splurging on a very expensive winter/trench coat. In Europe, you'll wear it every day for at least 4-5 months out of the year, and it can transform your look.

Absolutely. I wear an Italian cut cheap Zara suit and get seriously eye raped. One button and two buttons are the way to go.

In the picture the third trench is really doing it for me.

I spend so much time in warm weather climes that I haven't worn one in years. (I have a sick one packed away).

I'm a suit guy myself.

Do you guys rock a tie all the time, or just occasionally? I'm still not sure whether it's too formal or not. I'm not wearing custom trendy suits, yet.

Hard to go wrong with a black skinny tie. At least in D.C., it wasn't played out at all.

Guys in Iceland rock bow ties. And they make it look good. I may have to try.

I do skinny ties with my suits. Makes everything look a bit more hip and young.

This morning, as I was scraping snow off my car in full suit + trenchcoat, a redhead teacher passed by with a bunch of school kids.

She was a solid 9+. Beautiful with a curvy body that was a work of art. And she gave me a long, yearning look that made my heart skip. Unfortunately, I was headed to an important appointment, but the next time I see her, I'll go direct.

God I missed Europe.

Custom suits = ALPHA.

I recently started wearing custom suits from Men's Warehouse not just at work, but also during my nights out in Miami. The difference in responses I get from women is almost laughable...I get an instant DHV even before the chicks know me and I hav noticed I am now gaming chicks about 2 full points higher on the 10 scale!

Now I just need to learn to be a true ALPHA 24/7!

I'm saving up for another custom suit but luckily I invested in a custom black suit a while ago and the versatility is amazing. I usually have my initials stitched on the interior so people know what's up. Depending on where I'm going I'll either rock I tie, pocket square, or both. I only really rock the tie if I'm going for the "executive look," but if I'm doing something more casual I'll keep either a pocket square or just nothing with unbuttoned collar... I only usually go out with solid color ties or ties with simple designs, the tie's quality should be enough to speak for itself, not weird @ss designs.

I always feel custom dress shirts and footware are neglected though, I can't wait till I've saved enough to get a pair of John Lobbs or some Charvet shirts. Recently though, Asian tailoring is on the rise: http://leparvenue.blogspot.com/2011/01/s...ve_19.html

What types of venues do you wear custom suits to? Dive bars? Lounges? Only high end clubs? What do you do when someone asks you why you are suited down?

You're wearing a tailored suit. Custom suits are when you pick the fabric off the bolt, then the style, and finally go in for an initial and final fitting.

It depends on your mojo. Wear the suit, don't let the suit wear you. There's limits though, like wearing a custom tux to a backyard bbq...unless your James Bond on a misson.

When I stopped by my boys at Ozwald Boateng on Savile Row in London, they were heavy into skinny ties. I had to pick up a few myself.

I am not totally sold on them though. I still remember the 80's. I veer a little more toward classic and timeless.

"Men's Warehouse" and Custom Suit don't belong in the same sentence (even though I just did it).

You could buy 40 suits at the Men's Warehouse for the price of one Custom Suit.

Bikini is the shit.Brazilian nights are especially good if you are looking for the non-Catalan girls.

Next time I am in Barcelona I am going to suit up and hit some high end venues.

G, I know suits have been your thing forever and they work great for you... but a few questions:

- Have you noticed certain venues or cities where being suited down wouldn't be an advantage or may even be a disadvantage? Like maybe you could come off as a cheesy Wall Street guy or something.

- Do you think there's a big drop off in results with quality of suit. For instance, can a guy pick up a $200-300 suit that looks decent and get 90% of the results of a guy in a custom made suit?

- Are there countries that respond better to suits than others in your experience?

Fuck yeah. The suit will look like the box your Maytag fridge came in. And the quality of fabric? LOL. DON'T get suits made in Asia. Their style is totally different, and the stitching sucks...big pockets, baggy thighs, and tight pant cuffs. Bernie Mac will laugh at your ass when you come back. Banana Republic, Express, and Macy's sells slim fit suits that need little tailoring that run under $500. Keep an eye on Dappered and Guilt. GQ did a couple articles on the "best suits under $500". I can't stress how important it is to find a tailor that understands current style and what you want. A good tailor can make a $300 suit look like it cost $1000. The rest is up to you. There's a difference between a blazer and suit top. Pocket squares are a must. Cuff links and tie clasps are to be worn when you wear a tie. Don't over accessorize. None of my custom ties are over 2.75 inches. Off the shelf ties can be tailored also. My mother owned a fabric shop for 25 years, so I was brought up in the textile industry. And no matter what, wear it confidence.

Winter suits:
Cuff length- between the knuckles of the thumb.
Pants length- 3/4 to full break.

Summer suit:
Cuff length- just above the top knuckle of the thumb.
Pants length- 1/4 to 1/2 break.
