So I went to meet her Sat night, arriving about 15 min late per usual. Texted her "are you here?" before I valeted my car (only option at this venue). No response even after she'd entered my frame when she said I always respond hours later.

You just never fucking know.Stating the obviously here but texting is right next to online dating as far as shit I hate fucking with, but unlike okstupid, text game is necessary but is so unreliable it needs to be abundant. +1 for setting up multiple dates per night and always going for more than number close.

Bummer dude. Like you say, sometimes you just never know. One of my favorite nuggets of wisdom: "Sometimes you do everything right and fail. Sometimes you do everything wrong but succeed. Just have to keep trying." The shitty thing here is that this bitch was probably lying about her eye in the first place and you gave her the benefit of the doubt and she returns the favor by no-showing. Pretty typical. In hindsight, you should have just told her that was a weak excuse and cut her loose then. Live and learn.

As far as texting goes, the smart move is to avoid the problem as much as possible — keep it to a minimum and keep it mostly transactional/logistical. And look at the bright side: since the barriers to entry to texting (or OKC for that matter) are so low, the market is flooded with chumps who have no idea what they are doing. That means there's a huge advantage for those with the tenacity and intelligence to figure out how to stand apart (i.e. you).

If you hadn't sent the "Are you here text?" you could always give one last Hail Mary by pretending you flaked on her. Go to the bar. If she's not there send her a text saying, "Shit something came up. We'll have to reschedule". Works about 10% of the time.

It's a nice lounge less than a mile from my place. Parking is a bitch everywhere here anyway so it's almost easier.
