I was thinking about this topic recently. I think this women chase bad boys thing is a bit of a illusion. It's not the fact that they are bad, it's the fact that bad boys have a powerful frame. But you don't need to be bad to have that. George Clooney has a powerful frame too and he's a good guy. Would he get laid any less than a bad boy?

All this talk about alpha vs beta traits. It all comes down to one trait. The frame. If you don't know what I mean by frame I'm saying your ability to frame the reality around you by your terms. When you talk everyone listens and nobody talks over you. When you say "let's go here", everyone goes without question. When you ask someone to do something, they do it. Nobody tries to pull one over on you. You have everybody's respect and nobody wants to cross you. You dominate the situation. Dominance. That's what it means to have a powerful frame. Bad boys exhibit this trait naturally and nice guys don't. But some guys who are not bad boys per se also have a powerful frame and they do very well.

I don't believe in trying to emulate assholes and jerks. Those guys don't get girls because they are jerks, they get them because they are dominant, but you don't need to be an asshole to be a dominant male. I've always known alphas who are very cool guys, never had a problem getting laid and aren't acting like dickheads to everyone.

The relationship between women and bad boys is a little bit like the relationships that people have with drugs. It's like those old anti-drug commercials, no one starts out wanting to become a crackhead. No woman starts out wanting to be a punching bag from some low-life or holding down a dude doing a fifteen-year bid up north, but some women are emotionally fucked up and just can't help themselves. And some women go their whole lives without giving bad boys any time.

Those are the extremes and most women fall somewhere in the middle. Either they fuck with bad boys while their young and then try to find a beta male to shack up with long term or they find a regular dude with some bad boy traits.

This is one of those threads that shows you the limitations of discussing game (or anything else, really) with others and expecting to learn something and improve. Especially online.

The thread was started by someone who actually was speaking empirically, you know, from real world observation. Then Neil agreed, also noting his EXPERIENCE and what he OBSERVED.

Of course most of the guys who are saying they're wrong, stupid, and even accusing them of being trolls are using some sort of theoretical rationalization of why girls go for bad boys -alpha traits, blah blah- and the one guy, a veteran poster, posted a picture of the biggest herb in the world, as if that represented what houston was referring to as an "artificial badboy".

It's completely true what they (houston, Neil, et al.) wrote. Most badboys do better than average with women from my observations as well, but not with attractive women. That could be from actually being more attractive or having lower standards. But who gives a shit, they're not doing that great anyway.

All that theory and rationalizing done by a few of the posters here is just an attempt to deny the truth. Face the facts, then act.

You're better off just learning how to talk to people in public settings and working on your looks, and lifestyle. All of these feed off of each other and are easy to improve in unison. You can find better sources for advice on these elsewhere than a game site. Or you can sit there theorizing on how bad boys get girls and what biological impulses cause that. But that's dumb as shit.

I actually think the best part of this site is probably the travel section, ironic since I barely read it. The rest is just distraction.

All the advice on making money is kind of lame -seriously, just work your way up to something good in your 20s while you can work that hard, and make good connection, none of that online be your own boss BS where you work your ass off to make what an entry level college grad at a big firm makes then maybe figure out a business to sell in that area if you can. If you fail, you still have a good job.

The best --as in, the most practical and immediately useful-- stuff you can glean from game/manosphere websites on women will take you maybe a couple of days of reading, the rest is intellectual masturbation and theorizing on whether this guys an alpha, or some crime against men..blah. Face the facts, then act.

The fitness advice...you're better off going onto actual fitness sites, and *GASP* testing things out for yourselves and adjusting as you go along.

SO yeah....I took a break from these kinds of sites for a couple of weeks and honestly lost nothing, in fact gained time and energy. I realize that was a good choice and I should have continued.

The information age is overrated. info really only has so much value, then it actually becomes a bad thing as you forget to think for yourself and learn by doing and experiencing.

Anyway, continue with the responses about how it's imperative that the female mates with the alpha bad-boys and men of power and strength and all that... no way just being a fun cool guy would work better.

Very well said. I often think about his in the context of a couple of coaches - Bobby Knight and John Wooden. Knight was a notoriously foul-mouthed tyrant, who used intimidation to get what he wanted. He won 3 national titles, and his defenders point to that. He instilled discipline, and garnered respect from all around him, and no one had a bad word to say about him. One great example was how he dealt with Bill Walton, a strong personality. Walton was a total child of the 60s - heavily into the protest and counter-culture movement. He spend his summers traveling around following the Greatful Dead and protesting shit, occasionally getting arrested. Bill returns to school in the fall for practice, and he's sporting a big, bushy beard. Wooden had a no facial hair rule. He instructs him to shave, but Walton responds that his freedom of expression is being infringed upon. Wooden responds, "William, I respect your opinion, and you'll be missed around here," or something to that effect. Walton went back into the locker room and shaved, and had to do it quickly because you had to be dressed and ready for practice at a particular time, or you had to run laps. He didn't curse or raise his voice, and didn't attempt to intimidate him physically. He merely stated the rules, and the consequences of not abiding by them. And Walton was a 3-time college player of the year, and had a couple of the greatest single-game performances in college basketball history. But he wouldn't have played had he not shaved. Good example. I'm also reminded of Phil Jackson, one of the most successful yet cool and collected coaches I've seen. And the late Jerry Buss. Totally alpha, vast fortune and accomplishments, banged 20 something chics up till his death, yet he was known to be a really cool guy at the same time. And then of course Richard Branson, you can't get more alpha and he's the archetype of the cool guy super alpha. People don't follow him because they fear him, they follow him because they want to be him.

Dr. Buss is a major reason why Magic Johnson headed down the path he did as a businessman. Magic, though you wouldn't have known it to hear him speak back then, is a very intelligent man. Buss mentored him, and over the years plugged him into his own network of people.

And yeah...he does it without being a dick to people. You can't be successful and be weak - I'm sure he commands respect in his own way, but people definitely want to be around him. I question whether or not people feel the same way about say...Donald Trump. The Donald seems to be the kind of guy that has to always get the attention by DEMANDING you look and/or listen. Branson just does his thing, and if you want, you can follow along and watch.

Women love a bad boy but badness is relative. The bad boy cannot be bad in a way that puts the guy outside their social set.

The teenage daughter of a billionaire going to a super uptight elite private school might think a boy is a "bad boy" if he wears shoes from a rebellious label and doesn't tuck his shirt. A thug with prison tattoos would be completely outside her experience and not even nearly someone she could bring to meet her friends so she won't even consider him. Even if she thinks he's hot he'll probably have no chance - women are not like men and they routinely reject sex with even guys that they consider "hot" if the other conditions are not right.

And then of course the teenage boy that is a "bad boy" for a 13-year-old girl would just be a silly immature teenage boy for most 21-year-old women. The bad boy of the court room will impress the lawyer chicks at his firm but to a stripper he will be just a lawyer who makes so and so much $ per year. Badness within one sphere doesn't immediately translate to others and most girls go with a guy from their own sphere. The way to appeal to a chick is to be like all the other guys in her world but to be the baddest of them.

Even if this were true (and I contend that it is not - being a bad boy is its own kind of value), it would still be merely a difference of degree, not of a kind. Sure, she won't get wet for a murderer or explicit psychopath, but she will squeal with delight at how he makes constant fun of her, physically escalates strongly, and doesn't take her seriously as a person, behaviours which are signals of psychopathy that no "nice guy" would ever have.

Reminds me of Tony Dungy. He never had to curse or raise his voice, yet his players respected and loved him. You can be good without having to be a jerk. You just have to make sure you don't let people run all over you if you go with the nice route.

Houston, this is a classic case of calibration. When people talk generally about women wanting bad boys it's in COMPARISON to a pushover nice guy who would end up in the LJBF category with almost all women. You're just arguing against a strawman because you're not putting it into context. See the definitions and the examples below. If you don't think that most women would choose the former vs the latter (actual choice, not what they SAY they would choose), then that's a bit nuts:

I was the nice guy and I've observed plenty of my friends who are bad with women as well as good with women. The confidence, the non-needyness, the dominance, even the ability to be a dick, win over girls way, way, way more than the men who lack that but are otherwise decent men with highly successful careers, in great physical shape, and good looking.

The more a bad boy I've become, the more women I can bed or get into a relationship with at any one time. I have my nice guy traits too, but without some bad boyish traits, I would've never landed a tenth of the women I've dated.

There are lots of different ways to define a bad boy. I would consider you to be a "bad boy" when compared to the average guy, and from what you have told us, you seem to be plowing through chicks.

The average convict is getting far more tail than the average IT geek. Women are attracted to the traits that bad boys posses, its just the way it is. Dominance, indifference, masculinity, aggression, etc.

I have always believed though that women are more into "types". Its just part of the social pressure they feel and women are drawn to men that embody a specific type of guy that they feel adds some sort of social value or validation for them.

From experience, I think part of it too is rebellion and daddy issues. I banged plenty of "innocent" college girls by putting them on the back of a Harley. Some of these never wanted to be seen around their friends, but secretly live out some fantasy.

They do want to feel like the guy could rape them at any moment. This is, I believe, part of the appeal of the bad boy. It's that sense of danger, and being completely submissive to a dominating force that excites them. It's the man who isn't controlled by any force of nature. The badboy is a force of nature.

Girls get turned on in their minds. Their imaginations are the best place to direct your game. You don't have to be a bad boy, she just has to think you are a badboy, or even that you could be one and aren't letting her know about it.
