One of my friends last night was telling me that in his country (he is from Seychelles) they speak the same language (french creole) as the state of Louisiana. I was like wtf, the state of louisiana is located in the US so they probably speak english there. We argued for few mins then we verified it on wikipedia and he was actually saying the truth. According to wikipedia there are 250,000 native speakers of french creole in the state of Louisiana.

I became curious about Lousiana and want to ask few questions to whoever has been there.

Is the culture in Louisiana totally different from the rest of the US? Do you see people speaking french creole on the daily basis or almost everybody just speaks english? How friendly and easy are the girls there? Lots of big butt chicks there?

I am sure we have few players on here who know about this place.

Louisiana has many faces. I spent a lot of time in New Orleans and people speak English there, small minority who speak Creole or understand it. West of New Orleans there are Cajuns, not Creoles (people mix them up a lot but they are distinctly different cultures and people). Cajuns used to speak French but were forced to use English in the early 20th century so their French dialect is endangered and mostly spoken by a few oldtimers. It is definitely more fo a relic than a practical everyday language.

I'd like to check out Louisiana someday and see what is left of Cajun culture, they have an interesting history. The French Cajuns ended up down in Louisiana after the English deported a bunch of the Acadian French people from my home Province, Nova Scotia back in 1755. Many weren't deported or simply avoided deportation by hiding in the woods, today they Acadians number over 300K in the Maritime provinces of Canada and I grew up in one of the Acadian communities outside of Halifax.

Pitt, you're studying French right? The French spoken by the Cajuns and Acadians is a really bastardized version of French, people from France can't understand it but if you speak French and English you will because it mixes the both, for example an Acadian might say "J'ai park‚‚é mon car dans le driveway".

I would say so.

Along with Miami, New Orleans is probably the most unique city in America. It is also known as "America's Most Exotic City".

I have driven through the state, but don't know much of it as a whole.

I do know that the north part of the state and the south are often at odds.

The southern part being more French and Catholic. The northern part more English and Protestant.

Or at least that is my understanding.

Many people get this wrong and think New Orleans is Cajun.

It is definitely way different than the rest of the country especially when it comes to the law. If I didn't have my kid situated here I would be living there right now with my Acadian brothers. I was looking for a house right before she was born on the Pearl river MS which is very close.

It's funny that this came up because I had a dream last night I was the Governor of a Parrish there. In my dream they separated all the Parrishes. It kicked ass and I feel great today.

I have dated a few Creole women from Louisiana. Yes, they speak a different language.

Every state in America has it own culture. California, New York, Texas, Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, Carolina, Etc.

We have many different cultures!

Depends where you go. In the big cities, everyone speaks a dialect of English, out in the country people might speak more Creole.

I missed this question.

To answer it, I will say a huge yes.

I do extremely well with girls in New Orleans for whatever reason. Always have. Even better than Las Vegas.

I am going to be going soon, so we will see if it still holds up (so to speak).

And yes, they are the friendliest girls I know. I love them. (Keep in mind, I typically hang out in places with what most would consider "un-friendly" people).

Its good to be a guy. There are hundreds of subcultures in New Orleans. Its easy to guess personalities based on parish (county equivalent), neighborhood, and even street. For example, el mech would fit right in living on the pearl river (except its a dry parish on sunday- no booze legally sold so maybe not.

In the next month theres the Sugar Bowl football game, Chic fil A bowl with LSU playing, and the Super Bowl. Plus new years and mardi gras. Plus the summer is a nonstop party with music fests etc. Its pretty crazy.

You can walk and cab. They have streetcars too.

I am dating off and on is from a little further south and comes from a cajun background.Truth be told though she has kind of separated herself from her heritage.Her maiden name is mayeux and her mothers was pepiton.It is fun listening to the oldtimers from further south start talking together.They start speaking in a bastard french and you have no idea what they say. Laisse le bon temp roule.
