Look at the symmetry. You had a handsome friend, and the fat ugly girl had a pretty friend. The distinction is that the girl opened and got her choice of partner. Good for her - she got game!

This also illustrates the value of persistence. You were in the right place at the right time.

The final lesson is that women want to socialize too. You didn't manipulate them, you helped them accomplish their objectives. I congratulate you, sir, for providing a valuable social service by entertaining the pretty girl while the ugly one conquered your friend.
