I think this is accurate. It will just depend on the country. Here in Thailand they don't ask US citizens anything about their criminal record I don't believe. I have read the same thing about Brazil, but don't know first hand.

Just tell your buddy shut up and not tell anyone about his record. Do you think US shares this information with other countries?

However, I've found that in private if you want to have an intelligent conversation with a German about the subject, they're usually okay with it.

In my eyes..Nazis arent a big deal in Germany and not as touchy a subject as people think

I went to one of Germany's Military Universities.
WW2 is barely a touchy subject.
Theyve had it hammered into their skulls for so long that its like a joke that got old..so they reinvent it to make it funny.
Ive heard more nazi jokes from german officers making fun of hitler and the nazis than anyone else.
They could care less..they know it was a bad time in their countries histories..but they are still proud to be in their military even if some people in their country feel otherwise.

During my first week with the officers..we had a movie night...And watched Saving Private Ryan...
The only time it got awkward was when they would make fun of the german soldiers.
It was also the first time I was told about this scene..where they told me the german army had prisoners fighting





Anytime the subject popped up around younger kids..they didnt want to talk about it because of embarrassment..they didn't want to talk about it because they had talked about it a million times before.

very true seemingly all germans.(regardless of social status,age,gender etc)are having it difficult to talk about wwii.as if they want this time to be erased from theyr collective memory.

To talk to the Germans about Hitler is viewed by them similar to talk to Americans about slavery and extermination of Indians or to Russians about Katyn.They regard it as a 12 year interval in their 2000 years history nothing to be impressed about.

i was always interested to know if the unspoken barbarism of those days is having to do with the german psyche in general.while all historic nations are having theyr share in cruelty.the way germans performed all tis tragedy is unique in human history.im talking about theyr well orderly executed operation of massive extermination.which still remains a black seed that is throwing poison over europe's unity.

I was just searching for a beach to spend next summer at in Europe and found these places to rent in Albania ( which seems to have a stunning coastline with crystal clear waters ). They have ocean front apartments,fully furnished with bills included for €300 a month. Cheapest beach side rents in Europe?

Simple fix. Use her place as a home base and then head off on 3-day to week-long side trips to check out other cities and sites.

Chances are that she has to work anyways, so she won't be able to run all over Europe with you. And if she doesn't have a job, take her with a couple times but let her know that sometimes you just like to do your own thing and travel solo. She's not your girlfriend, so she hardly has the right to nag on you about it.

Yes Albania is a very cheap and great place to go, I consider it the last hidden gem of Europe. If I had the money Id invest there although there are a shitload of rich Albanians living outside the country who also have the means.
