Hi, i have lived in Oaxaca, the state is one with the highest levels of poverty and as you mention this is one of the states where the majority of people is indigenous, say like 70% of people is native american, 25% is mestizo and maybe <5% is white. There are not many pretty girls, so in a sense this is the Bolivia of Mexico, and if you don't like the looks of american indians, then you probably won't enjoy your time here with regards to local women.

That being said, this is one of the most beautiful and exotic state in terms of nature beauty, you can find forests, tropical places, beaches, arid zones, the weather is great even in winter and also the people is friendly and this is a relativately safe place.

As you can imagine, it is one of the states that attract more tourism, so you may have a chance with the tourists, it attracts mostly mexican, american and canadian tourists, but you can also find lots of european tourists.

The beaches and the city of Oaxaca in particular is where most of the action is, so this is where i would go. The city of Oaxaca is known to be a place where many artists are located, so the place has a bohemian touch on it. The beaches are known for being great and not being overcrowded as other parts of Mexico, this a great place for Surfing if you are into that, i recommend Puerto Escondido for partying and nightlife and Huatulco for a place where you can relax in front of a beach, and with a more "family" touch.

I spent a week in Oaxaca city. It was the summer/fall rainy season so I didnt go to the coast (puerto escondido).

Its generlly true that the locals here have a more indigenous look. However, like all of mexico, there is a mix. There were definitely a lot of girls who were petite, which can be found in all of mexico.

My experience with mexico is that most girls are either pretty F-ing fly or they are pretty horrid man beasts. It seems to be a spin of the rolette wheel as to what percentage of european, which tribe mixed, etc..

I actually thought that Cancun had the most coke can shaped indigenous women, with Oaxaca being slightly better. There were definitely some cute girls in Oaxaca. I would say that 7s were not hard to find. But anything above was very rare. There were also a few european chicks around too.

I think if you have great game or good looks then you probably can score if you spend a few weeks in Oaxaca state. I´ve heard the beach there is good too, but you might want to make sure to go in the right season, I dont know....

I would say if you just want to go to a nice beach with cheap places to stay, with raging nightlife every night, and chicks around every corner who are DTF, you cant go wrong with PLaya del carmen. The only caveat being that the nightlife is loud clubby music which ended up annoying me. The beaches are beautiful, and daygame is doable on the beach. The only drawback is that its more touristy and you have to travel a few hours to get into more ancient culture and shit. For example, oaxaca city has an amazing pyramid site on a mountain above the city (30 minute bus ride). Whereas playa del carmen has good snorkeling and archeological sites are going to be further away. But they are good ones. For example chitzen itza is like 3 or 4 hours away from playa del carmen. And its considered one of the 7 new wonders of the world.

PLaya del carmen is like a genetic meeting ground. I stayed in a luxurious hostel with a pool for $12 literally a hop from the beach and nightlife. The mexican who ran the place had a Ukrainean girlfriend who he met in playa del carmen. Its basically a playground for north america, south america, and europe. Argentinians, germans, israelis, mexicans, you name it. But the place does still feel like its down the road from Miami and therefore is super touristy feeling. But its comfortable...

I don´t think you can go wrong with either place though. You just need to weigh the more rugged authentic oaxaca experience versus the more DTF sexscapade ambience of playa del carmen. I wouldn't say that the girls were that much better looking in playa. Just that its an obvious what stays in vegas culture there and you have the worlds women to pick from. And while there werent 8s and 9s poppin up all over the place in playa, its definitely going to be easier to find high end there unless you really like the pocahontas look.

One more thing about Oaxaca city...

The nightlife can be pretty dead weeknights. Whereas playa del carmen seemed to always have enough sets any night.

And about mexico in general.... Keep in mind that it might be good to call girls/friends. Sometimes people are out of telephone credit and so cant return texts. Then again, maybe its a good qualifier to see how interested she is in you, to force her to buy a $2 credit for her phone...

Here's a few 2nd tier cities I can recommend in Mexico:

Leon: spent a few days there. Saw exactly one obvious foreigner the entire time. nightlife is a little quiet during the week, but you can probably squeeze something out of it. Quite a number of bars within walking distance downtown. Women were attractive, almost on par perhaps with guadalajara. A local told me that there are clubs filled with fresas if that is your thing. The town is pretty modern with a metrobus system like mexico city. Seems to be a lot of artists, hippies, and punks.

San luis potosi: also very few foreigners, at least at night (was not there during the daytime). Went out friday night. Nightlife seemed a little weak downtown, but there are a few happenin spots. At a hostel met a girl who invited me to go with her and a few other people (including a greek girl living there) to visit a cool town nearby. The area around is known for waterfalls and natural beauty. Overall, seemed like a town with a lot of potential..... Girls were also attractive with perhaps a slight french touch to them.

Then you must have been to one of the most upscale clubs in San Luis. Girls down there are, on average, nowhere close to attractive.

I have very little intel on Mérida. I was there for less than 24 hours and spent most of those at the airport, so I couldnt tell.

Please do tell, Merida is on the docket for me, if you spent 3 weeks there it must be great, because I was only thinking I might spend a couple nights before heading to spend much more time in PDC. I've heard it's a pretty city, great architecture, etc., but any decent nightlife and potential to hook up with either locals or tourists?

So I got my plane ticket for the end of the month, it's a one way flight and only cost $300 so I am keeping my options open and may considering opting out if some unforseen shit occurs, I can't handle all my last minute financial stuff and odds and ends. At this point I'm 90% going though, so it's more or less going down.

Here is the route I have decided upon, let me know if you guys have any feedback! Fly into Oaxaca City (1 week)... Puerto Escondido (1 week)... Bahia Huatulco (4-5 days)... San Critobal de las Casas (4-7 days)... Palenque (3 days)... Campeche (1-3 days)... Merida (2-4 days)... Playa del Carmen (1 week).... At this point I will either fly back home out of Cancun, or if I feel like it I may check out Isla Muejeras or head down to Caye Caulker in Belize for a min.

I'm here in Playa del Carmen ahora! It's ridiculous. Got here yesterday afternoon. LOTS of work on these streets! I don't think I've ever seen such a relentlessly high level of talent anywhere, even Montreal. I'm not sure if it's because of New Year's and BPM Festival (started yesterday) or what but it doesn't make any sense.

So far I've checked out some spots on GManifesto's sheet that he sent me. Great recs actually. Checked out El Fogon first things first because me and my boys were hungry and craving Mex. It was very legit and authentic while also inexpensive. Even some fancier spots like Sur that he mentioned we've been hearing about from people we've talked to. I also recommend The Glass Bar for lunch.

Mandala was serious last night. Approached a set of chicks visiting from Italy and almost closed. We were feeling out venues and going OD at the bars so it wasn't a big deal. Tonight is a different story. Going out with some chicks to Alux which is a resto that turns into a club. It's in an underground cave or something. Tomorrow night I'm checking out the Carl Cox set for BPM at Blue Parrot. My bday is on the 7th so that should be special.

I thought I was going to bust out a sheet but I think G's is a pretty good guide. The nightlife is pretty centralized so just hit 5th Ave where it intersects with 12 and you're good. The resto scene is all over the map so I think G already covered that pretty well.

I can't say if Playa is always like this but so far the talent I've seen out here is mindblowing. The overall vibe is very chill and it's heavily catered to tourists so there's always crowds of people moving about. The beaches are decent and topless optional. Lots of ta ta's out on full display today. Relentless talent.

G - Yup. Euro chicks going topless. There's lots of chicks from France. Also strong representation from other Eurozone countries as well as Russia and North America. Really surprised by the numbers.

As for Mex girls , lots of high end chicks from DF mostly. They carry themselves with a certain confidence that you can spot right away. I've also met a couple from MTY.

Merenguero - So far I've met chicks from Czech, Italy, Hungary, Russia, Spain, France, Sweden, UK, Canada, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil...pretty much everywhere. I think BPM attracts a worldwide following.
I gotta keep this place on the radar in the future to run some hard game and determine if its usually like this. The numbers are def here. People said New Years was wild and that its been a 7 days per wk party atmosphere for the past few weeks.

I was just in Playa before Christmas and afterwards.

I ran into mostly South American tourists from Brazil and Argentina. I hooked up with a Brazilian chick after we had breakfast at the condo complex we were staying at.

If you want Canadians, Australians, Asians, and Americans go to Cancún, if you want Europeans and South Americans, hit Playa.

Personally, I ended up having much more of an adventure in Mérida, but a lot of things happened there, that just didn't take place while I was in Playa.

Let me tell you, if you plan on going to Playa during Christmas/New Year's, make your arrangements well in advance.

Once it hit the 21st, the prices for everything nearly doubled and shit was booked solid. I was sending PMs on Playa message boards to locals trying to find housing.

I ended up having to stay in a spot a little off the beaten path, but it was nice as hell -- my condo was the suite on the 3rd floor, upper left hand side.

I went solo and did pretty decent. I have been meaning to bust some stories. I had to infiltrate groups of girls and mixed groups on the solo creep tip.

I did get in a Street Fight with a Narcotraficante (I think? Makes for a better story), though.

So I think it might be good to have some back up.

Best to have a wing, the only chicks traveling by themselves are ones you won't want, they are there more to relax than to party.

Getting to Playa is easy.

Once you leave the Cancún airport, you walk out of Terminal 3 -- all U.S. flights land and take off at Terminal 3 -- and go straight to the right, that's where the buses are. Take an ADO bus, the ticket is less than $5, an hour later, you're in Playa.

Also make sure you hit the one ATM in Terminal 3 to get M$, ATMs give you the best exchange rate.

Unfortunately, I missed HC, I thought he was going to be there around NYE.

Chances are I'm going back from March 21-31, that's Spring Break, guaranteed to be bananas. Also March is the driest month in the area, you want to skip dead of Summer and early Fall. I met people who said they had been before but didn't have a good time because it rained their entire trip.

I got the impression that most Americans go to Cancún, and don't bother taking the ADO out of there.

I think Jariel is right here. Ive ran into few Americans, only two different sets of chicks that were both from Maryland actually. Bizarre. Pretty wild when considering how close this place is for Americans whereas other folks have to travel quite far. However, there are lots of Canadian chicks from Ontario which is worse to me than American chicks. I feel sorry for posters who live in that part of Canada. Those chicks are not feminine at all from what I have seen.

Prices have been high here this week and before New Years. There are many folks from Europe who are even sleeping on the beach. My boys and I were lucky to show up without reservations and lock down something in person. Many spots had no vacancy but we found something in the mix with great logistics and negotiated a considerably lower price than what was shown on the internet. Ive used that tactic in many of my travels in the past.

I guess best time of year might be this time in terms of traffic but if cost is a big concern then I wouldnt say so. First time here so I cant call it.
