Lets start a dialogue here on mastermind groups.

Is anyone a part of an online mastermind group? Which one? What kind of members does it have? Is it open to newcomers?

If you are a part of a mastermind group that meets up in person, how did this group come to be? What do you guys talk about?

Networking with men who are working towards similar goals is a powerful motivator. When undertaking a new venture you can do things the hard way and try to do it all by yourself, or you can link up with guys who have walked the walk and will show you the way.

Do mastermind groups that meet strictly over the web ever work out?

I wouldn't mind doing one with other location independent freelancers and online marketers....

Back in NY.

I knew someone in it who thought i'd be a good fit.
They needed another lawyer.
There was an architect, accountant, insurance guy, banker, artist, and a couple others. about 10-12 people

We would meet for breakfast once a month (breakfast was the only time everyone could meet, but it was tough for me), and just talk about how our business was going. You'd get to hear about a lot of other businesses. I know they ended up doing a lot of business amongst themselves and referring mastermind group members to their own clients and customers.

I preferred it to my lawyer networking meetings. Most of that is guys looking for clients from other guys, but we're all drinking from the same milkshake. Cause I can get a guy out of jail, write a will, draft an llc, sue a dead beat and defend an insurance company. Most of us are interchangeable to the general public.

In a multidiscipline MM group, I was absorbing a lot of different ideas and ways of thinking, and we don't really compete for clients in anyway shape or form. I learned a lot.

Very, very true. Thanks for the reminder, as this place really is an asset that can be easy to take for granted sometimes.

That said, I think the business side of things is where the forum is really lacking; a hyper-focused business group would be worth being part of. Sometimes the business threads around here are full of vague info or what seems like pre-pitches for someone preparing to sell something. And sometimes people bounce into a thread to mention how they're making a shitload of cash but never show back up to give any hint to the how or what.

Could be just a lack of focus, as everyone here is into something different. Personally, I think being part of something with serious businessmen - trading ideas, networking, and keeping each other going - would offer a lot that the forum can't deliver.

Before it became a private forum, the Stronglifts forum encouraged people to keep a forum diary of their lifting. People could then follow specific lifters to learn from or to teach or just to trade ideas.

Maybe that would work here on this forum. The best mastermind group would be a face-to-face thing but this can be a reasonable substitute/back-up.

Basically, for us that are hustling, we could keep a weekly online diary of how business is going. We could follow each others interesting threads and just toss ideas back and forth.

I think that would require a heavily moderated 'mastermind' subforum. Non-diary related stuff would have to be kicked out, and there should be an absolute non-tolerance of trolling.

Some potential rules:
1) The mastermind group is a dictatorship, not a democracy.
2) You will post a short history of your business/life/hustle, your thoughts on your progress.
3) With that post, you will post a date on which will be your next update of your 'business diary'; it can be anything between daily and 2 months.
4) Should anyone fail to post by his due date, he will be reminded by PM and given a one week extension only.
5) Any posts in response to a business diary update must add value to the the diary.
6) No direct negative comments will be tolerated. All criticism must be indirect. Should you have no idea how to argue indirectly, read Dale Carnegie's 'How to win friends and influence people.' I will soon be posting a summary of that book as well (I'm currently 75% done).
7) Breaking any of the above rules will lead to immediate banning from the mastermind group. See rule 1.
8) Failure to keep your diary updated will lead to banning from the mastermind group. See rule 1.

If you think the above could work, or there should be some other rule set, please post. I think if there are 10 people interested then it could be viable.

The other issue is, should we make this part of the RooshV forum or should we have a separate forum which can be more heavily moderated? (And obviously, it will be up to Uncle Roosh whether we can start a mastermind group in his forum)

I strongly believe in separating the group from Rooshv. Roosh is necessarily interested in getting publicity, he needs to sell books-- no criticism of him there, someone has to fight feminist ideas--, whereas people with professional licenses could be hurt by association with a pickup forum since feminist insanity is very real in the USA-- especially in bureaucratic institutions like licensing agencies. Future developments in data mining means you should assume nothing is a private post.

To paint a possibly paranoid scenario, think about all the credit card number "slip-ups" there have been, when it is obviously something the data people would have been trying to keep secure.

How much easier it would be to hijack something like "IP Logs linking all Comcast Users to their BBS logins ."

So on a public web site, your Comcast account holder name ( Jonny Intenetuser) linked with a list of all BBS's like Roosh's that user has logged onto. Nice. It can't happen here? It just takes ONE disgruntled employee who wants to fuck Comcast.

I don't know that much about computer security but you definitely want a hosting place that doesn't track IPs.

I don't think you can't keep your ISP from tracking you unless you do some stuff like go through a proxy. Comcast for instance keeps a list of which IP numbers it assigns to each house/apartment.

I personally don't want proxy hassle, I don't do anything illegal or that would get me killed.

EDIT: Here's some info on proxies, on second thought it might be good to use one ( they cost but are cheap) because you can appear to
be in a different country for banking purposes ( legal of course) or work purposes.

DON'T try to log onto a proxy site at work from a work computer or on their network, it is the most suspicious thing you can do.
The idea is when you want to log IN to work or the like you can control where you appear to be.

Mastermind group's are a Smart idea but not that easy to implement.
You need the right people with the same Goals and drive that you have.
If not it doesn't work out Long term.

I created a small Mastermind Group with a few Players from Germany who where interested in making Money.

I screened everybody by phone first and than we had regular meetings.
It was a nice experience and I learned a lot but in the long run we just had different Goals so we parted.

I am interested in a Mastermind group Together with other People who are Location Independent, that way we could meet up and everybody can bring Value into it.

A mastermind group needs to be small in my opinion 2-4 People so that it works effective and everybody get's something out of it plus it's important to have regular meetings and a Topic at every meeting.

Fore example someone making Money Online could explain his strategies, I could share how I invest and how I day trade. and so on.

At the moment I am in a Master Mind with a good friend and Capital Manager it's just the 2 of us and we discuss trading strategy and tips on how to improve our Privacy and Lifestyle. (2. Passport, Address etc).

I am open to creating or joining a new Mastermind using Skype.
But if I would do that I would keep it small just with people who are serious, successful and can add value. That way we can meet up
and really implement what we learn. Other than that a Mastermind can be a huge waste of Time if you have the wrong people in it so Screening hard is important.

this is dragging, this seems like one of those things where I'm going to have to go and set shit up, organize it, harass etc. Not really interested in that. Google groups if fine by me. Like this post if thats fine for you and I'll set it up, it will be basic and simple. I'm not into dicking around about what to do forever, lets get this started or not.

I'd be into doing a small mastermind group thing over Skype with a couple of other people who are having success with online business or freelancing. Not exactly sure how it would pan out yet though. Even better if the other group members are living in or going to be living in SEAsia - then we could possibly meet in-person over the next month or two.

My fear is getting on an internet chat with a couple of tire-kickers for no apparrent reason. If anyone is into this and has any ideas of how we can make the most of it, drop a pm. In my own case, I'd much rather do a virtual huddle with other people who are already making a good deal of income over the web.

I'll PM you the details of what I do. Thats sort of the whole reason not to run the mastermind on here. What I get out of it is a couple of good stories and some outside perspective on what I ran into during the week. Skype would also be a format that works.

This is a great idea with a lot of solid potential provided we get the right people with the right attitude. I'm interested so count me in. Skype is a great way to communicate or even do an initial multi user chat/conversation to see where everyone is in and take it from there.

I just learned about the concept today and it seems like a good arrangement. Mildly funny, I actually ran a large poker and bitcoin chat that was was very similiar to a mastermind group.
