Not sure anyone mentioned race in this thread...

I did.

There's a lot of statistics you could put up that show how the current government is doing a hell of a job handling hurricane Sandy.

Tenderman woke up on Veterans Day of all days and compared the current response to Hurricane Katrina.

Tenderman writes all kinds of shit in all the other threads about politics. Does he appreciate any of the work anyone does anywhere? Hell no. If so the first thing he would have done was write up this thread instead of "Happy Veterans Day" or something like that.

He had to take a shot at the current government. He can say he didn't but he did. That's what he hides behind.

This, of course, assuming he isn't a girl.

Aloha!

Seriously, read the forum rules and quit the personal attacks. You can disagree on here all day long but the straight up insults are immature. You shouldn't be having a meltdown over what's posted on the internets.

This forum is getting more and more entertaining everyday.

Yep.

Part of the reason I'm so pissed this old man even wrote this crap.

I was at the 2004 Tsunami in Indo and the work guys on our ships did over there was phenomenal. Then I was also at Katrina. The difference between the two was heartbreaking. Then you look at what a fantastic job they are doing now. The Katrina response was just flat out racist. I was there.

The US Navy is a global force for good. Happy Veterans Day everyone.

Criticizing the current government is not an act of racism. That is an absolutely ridiculous assertion to make.

Well, DID IT?

Posting links from Breitbart, a virulently anti Obama site and "fair and balanced" Faux news is POLITICS. So, don't give us this "it wasn't about politics" crap. If you are so upset about what is happening, why don't you go and volunteer.

You post up a new anti Obama thread everyday. Your last one got locked, and here you are with another one. Your posts aren't even original. You just come and here and regurgitate right wing talking points that you read on wingnut sites or hear on Rush Limpdick. You got this "Katrina on the Atlantic" crap from here:

It is. However, in this case, if you've read any of Tenderwhore's other posts you'd see this is just more of his crap.

Repeated criticism of the current government or the POTUS does not a racist make. However, perhaps Tenderman wrote something racist somewhere i'm not aware of? Anyone?

Its not a partisan issue its a issue of systems simply not working and them never being prepared to deal with shit like this. The type of stuff officials have been pulling during Sandy is laughable they really could not cut them selves out of a cardboard box if they were given scissors and a flashlight... its just that simple.

This isn't a stance against Government nor one for it. The left and right squabble on this point when the basics are left alone. The system simply does not work and people really just need to take steps to ensure their families, communities and most importantly themselves are taking care of and in a good position to deal with shit when it happens to break down.

Not buying it. Gov't can handle stuff like this---just look at the Japan disaster last year. If we seriously invested in preparing for these kinds of problems then the gov't would be able to handle these issues.

I suspect that with the GOP in the political wilderness for the next little while, the gov'ts ability to handle natural disasters will improve. It will take time, but we'll learn---probably sending experts to learn from hated socialist Europeans like the Dutch who've have lived under constant threat of storm and flood for centuries. Ask them if government works when it comes to mitigating the effects of catastrophe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_contr...etherlands

The entire article is about shit that the gov't does to make sure disaster doesn't take place.

Gov't doesn't work in this country because it is too often run by people who are busy trying to destroy it. That is changing---as will the efficacy of the gov't in natural disaster-type situations.

Really you do realize that the Japan Govt and TEPCO still don't know what do with the reactors which are still shooting out radioactive junk. The end decision is too deploy a suicide mission of encasing the reactors in concrete still has not been agreed upon (It was what was done during Chernobyl, all the men whom sacrificed them selves to do that all lived a life of pain, sickness and early death after doing so). If Japan had its shit together they would do seen decades before that those junky reactors where destined to fuck up at anytime. They knew damn well that a tiny rocker earthquake if zeroed in in the right spot would send those reactors Radioactivity skyhigh. But again the system an the Bureaucracy did not want to get out of its stone wheel groove to adapt its plan and fix a potential problem. Government can indeed properly handle and address disasters but disaster only become disasters from poor preparation, planning, and management that comes from Government and its systems being lazy to take on problems before they become crises.

Modern Govterment and Bureaucracy is inept to deal with crises because like I said with modern technology these things are easily able to be planned for.

The Netherlands has been prepped for flooding for 100s if not 1000s of years. It has been a issue in the low lying nation since its early days. I agree with you that is an instance where a Govt has realized a active natural threat and put forward the time and resources in using technology to prepare the nation for a situation that is bound to happen down the road. I can't even say Holland is Western as they have done their own style of systems and Government for a while and though it is a Modern and Western nation they really do things differently then we do here in North America. In North America damage and destruction is profitable. There will be people whom will make obscene profits off Sandy, in normal places this is not the case. If North America handled realistic threats like Holland then a "Superstorm" would not of kicked America in the nuts like Sandy did. It was far from a "Perfect Storm" and was weaker then projections forcasted.. it was a really bad storm that people in the Souther United States or in more tropical parts of the world deal with all the time. Aside from NJ the storm was magnified by the breakdown and destruction of logistical and support systems to deal with the Aftermath.

Good post---but you didn't disagree with the core of what I said.

The point was simply that if gov'ts realize an "active natural threat and put forward the time and resources in using technology to prepare the nation for a situation" then it means that gov't can respond effectively to situations like this. Sure, it often takes a tragedy to get the ball rolling on this stuff like this---but I never said that gov't was perfect. Only that it is capable if not being run by people whose sole mission in life is to destroy it.

And part of why people make such profits from disaster here in America, is because of the vacuum of gov't authority in stricken regions post-crisis. But once again, this weakness of gov't can likely be traced to it being neutered by people who are only office to destroy it as a matter of political ideology.

Kona has gone nuclear on you, called you out and you have no response.

RE: Katrina on the Atlantic -- The Third World Has Come to You
Comparing Sandy to Katrina is a joke, especially if it is done with the motive of smearing Obama. Both Governor Christie and Mayor Bloomberg praised Obama for his response. I live in NJ and the only thing I hear people bitching about is how shitty the response has been from the power companies (JCP&L and LIPA). Even in that anger, it isn't directed at the people on the ground doing the work. It's directed at the administrators who are fudging the numbers and have no idea how to coordinate the influx of workers because these people never touched a line in their life.

Tenderman, 3 day suspension for his neverending political trolling. His warning level is already at 60%. Another similar suspension in the next 90 days would lead to an automatic ban.

1 day warning for Kona.
