The only secret to expanding the market is to not act like a douche or if you do go for girls who want that. There will always be non-black chicks who want the stereotypical black guy (I dated an Asian back when 50 cent was big and she asked why I never said "Hey Shortie" to her). If you don't want to play that part then you have to separate yourself by being better than most other guys. Like they OP I have been the first black guy for some chicks and the most common thing that slips out is "You're not like other black guys." In most cases they don't know many black guys personally. Sadly as black guys in a lot of places we run into situations where people only have black images from the media to go on. That means that if we meet them and we are decent then we're the exception. If instead of us they meet the other type then they automatically assume that's the rule. Contrast that to white guys...a white dude can walk into a chick's parent's house, call them by their first name and shit on the floor without it poisoning those people against all white guys because in addition to tv they probably know decent white guys personally.

The good news for all non-white guys, especially asian and some hispanic guys who seem to catch it the worst, is that as the world becomes smaller and the west continues its economic decline, the myth surrounding white guys as all being super rich and super smart continues to disappear in a lot of the world. The standard of beauty also seems to be changing in a lot of places as well. I met a lot of chicks in SEA who had no interest in dating white guys because they had been to the west and realized that most white guys are nowhere near rich and that the notion of a white guy coming in and giving them a life of luxury is by far the exception. Granted, white guys dominated when it came to poorer girls under 23 but I imagine that with time more countries will mimic parts of SA in that being white will cease to be enough when their are enough other guys showing actual signs of wealth.
