Also i'm just clueless - why would you receive less educational opportunities there if you're not white; are there instances where schools care more about race than merit? Or somehow all the non-whites are assigned neighborhoods with shitty public schools, so smart mulattos are screwed?

Yeah, fuck that. You can respect the play, but know that this is the kind of zero sum thinking that has been on the wrong side of history throughout human history. The people who kept power with this type of thinking only did so because they were also dealing with a populace who thought that the world is flat too. You see this same bullshit perpetuated by the 1% of today, but contrarian information is available to anyone who wants to find it. 80% of Americans, for example, don't have a passport. But for the 20% who do, there is an entire world waiting to be explored. Regarding women, you can go to the PI, Colombia, FSU, Brazil, Argentina, Angola, Sweden, wherever. The world may be getting smaller and smaller, but there are more and more women who see past the provincialism of a man who will protect them and that's becoming less and less necessary. And men don't have to buy that stratification bullshit because we know better. The future belongs to people who can see past the end of their own noses, and I hope to fucking god that I'm one of them. I just recently moved to Texas, and I've met four or five guys who say they would never live anywhere else. But the thing is, none of them has ever lived anywhere else. Why the fuck would I take advice from any of them about where to live?

You are exactly correct. For all the Macro Analysis of social dynamics, there is always the Micro analysis of the individual and individual reactions to the Macro.

For example, two of my best friends who are both dark skinned African Americans - (think....Michael Jordan complexion) - are both married to white Brazilian women - both of the women are professionals - one an accountant - the other an attorney. They met the women when both groups were on vacation - outside of the US and outside of Brazil.

Outside of the restrictive pressures of their environments - they were able to mingle and relate to each other as individuals......

Most public schools in Brazil offer sub-par education. But still people that went to these schools didn't have access to higher education simply because they didn't want to. To be accepted in a good free uni here one simply has to pass a few exams which are held yearly and you can fail them as many times as it takes for you to get in.

Saddening fact is that they lack motivation to study by themselves and give up after they fail once or twice, then they spend the rest of their lives blaming the government for their lack of carrer situation. It worked... Populist government recently created a 50% quota in these free uni for kids who studied in public schools

If you acknowledge that the education they receive initially is sub-par, how is that same person going to be able on their own to study and pass a university exam? If a school is spitting out functional illiterates, they aren't armed with the tools to pursue education or to study on their own. You learn and develop study habits in school, and possibly from your parents. If your own parents had a similarly poor education, they are probably unable to provide any direction either.
